The Poor Before God
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Praise be to God, Originator of the heavens and the earth, who made the Agents messengers organized into departments — by twos, by threes, by fours.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله فاطر السموت والارض جاعل المليكة رسلا اولي اجنحة مثنى وثلث وربعHe adds to creation whatever He wills.
يزيد في الخلق ما يشاءGod is indeed capable of all things.
ان الله على كل شىء قديرWhatever benevolence God opens up for mankind, none can withhold it,
ما يفتح الله للناس من رحمة فلا ممسك لهاand whatever He withholds, none can release it after Him.
وما يمسك فلا مرسل له من بعدهHe is the All-Powerful, the Wise.
وهو العزيز الحكيمO mankind, remember God's blessing upon you.
يايها الناس اذكروا نعمت الله عليكمIs there any creator other than God who provides for you from the sky and the earth?
هل من خلق غير الله يرزقكم من السماء والارضThere is no deity but Him.
لا اله الا هوHow then are you turned away?
فانى توفكونAnd if they call you a liar, messengers before you were already called liars.
وان يكذبوك فقد كذبت رسل من قبلكAnd it is to God that all matters return.
والى الله ترجع الامورO mankind, God's promise is true.
يايها الناس ان وعد الله حقSo let not the present life deceive you,
فلا تغرنكم الحيوة الدنياnor let the great deceiver deceive you concerning God.
ولا يغرنكم بالله الغرورThe Diverter is an enemy to you: so take him as an enemy.
ان الشيطن لكم عدو فاتخذوه عدواHe only calls his party so that they may be among the companions of the Inferno.
انما يدعوا حزبه ليكونوا من اصحب السعيرThose who disown will have a severe punishment,
الذين كفروا لهم عذاب شديدand those who believed and did righteous deeds will have forgiveness and a great reward.
والذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت لهم مغفرة واجر كبيرThe one to whom the evil of his deed has been made appealing, so that he sees it as good [is he comparable to the rightly guided]?
افمن زين له سوء عمله فرءاه حسناGod leaves astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills.
فان الله يضل من يشاء ويهدي من يشاءSo let not your Self waste away in grief over them.
فلا تذهب نفسك عليهم حسرتGod is indeed All-Knowing of what they do.
ان الله عليم بما يصنعونIt is God who sends the winds, which stir up clouds; We drive them to a dead land, and by them We bring the earth to life after its death.
والله الذي ارسل الريح فتثير سحابا فسقنه الى بلد ميت فاحيينا به الارض بعد موتهاSo will be the Awakening.
كذلك النشورWhoever desires might should know that all might belongs to God.
من كان يريد العزة فلله العزة جميعاTo Him ascends the good word,
اليه يصعد الكلم الطيبand the righteous deed, He raises it.
والعمل الصلح يرفعهAnd those who plot evil deeds will have a severe punishment,
والذين يمكرون السيات لهم عذاب شديدand the plot of those is bound to perish.
ومكر اوليك هو يبورGod created you from dust, then from a drop, then made you into pairs.
والله خلقكم من تراب ثم من نطفة ثم جعلكم ازوجاNo female conceives nor gives birth except with His knowledge.
وما تحمل من انثى ولا تضع الا بعلمهNo being has his life extended, nor is his life shortened, except that it is in a record.
وما يعمر من معمر ولا ينقص من عمره الا في كتبThat is indeed easy for God.
ان ذلك على الله يسيرThe two seas are not alike:
وما يستوي البحرانthis one is sweet, fresh, pleasant to drink, and that one is salty, bitter.
هذا عذب فرات سايغ شرابه وهذا ملح اجاجFrom each you eat fresh meat, and you extract an ornament that you wear,
ومن كل تاكلون لحما طريا وتستخرجون حلية تلبسونهاand you see the ships cleaving through it, so that you may seek of His favor, and that you may be grateful.
وترى الفلك فيه مواخر لتبتغوا من فضله ولعلكم تشكرونHe causes the night to enter into the day, and causes the day to enter into the night,
يولج اليل في النهار ويولج النهار في اليلand He has subjected the sun and the moon,
وسخر الشمس والقمرeach running toward an appointed term.
كل يجري لاجل مسمىThat is God, your Guardian; to Him belongs the dominion.
ذلكم الله ربكم له الملكAnd those you call upon besides Him do not possess even the skin of a date-stone.
والذين تدعون من دونه ما يملكون من قطميرIf you call upon them, they do not hear your call; and even if they heard, they would not respond to you.
ان تدعوهم لا يسمعوا دعاءكم ولو سمعوا ما استجابوا لكمAnd on the Day of Appearance they will disown your association [with God].
ويوم القيمة يكفرون بشرككمAnd none can inform you like the Informed One.
ولا ينبيك مثل خبيرO mankind, it is you who are the poor before God,
يايها الناس انتم الفقراء الى اللهwhile God is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy.
والله هو الغني الحميدIf He willed, He would make you disappear and bring a new creation.
ان يشا يذهبكم ويات بخلق جديدAnd that is not at all difficult for God.
وما ذلك على الله بعزيزNo bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another;
ولا تزر وازرة وزر اخرىand if a heavily laden [Self] calls for help with its burden, nothing of it will be carried, even by a close relative.
وان تدع مثقلة الى حملها لا يحمل منه شىء ولو كان ذا قربىYou warn usefully only those who fear their Guardian unseen, and maintain the Contact,
انما تنذر الذين يخشون ربهم بالغيب واقاموا الصلوةand whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for his own Self.
ومن تزكى فانما يتزكى لنفسهAnd to God is the destination.
والى الله المصيرThe blind and the seeing are not equal, nor are darkness and light, nor shade and scorching heat.
وما يستوي الاعمى والبصير ولا الظلمت ولا النور ولا الظل ولا الحرورNor are the living and the dead equal.
وما يستوي الاحياء ولا الاموتGod makes whoever He wills hear,
ان الله يسمع من يشاءand you cannot make those in the graves hear.
وما انت بمسمع من في القبورYou are but a warner.
ان انت الا نذيرWe have indeed sent you, in truth, as a bearer of good tidings and a warner.
انا ارسلنك بالحق بشيرا ونذيراAnd there is no community but a warner passed among it.
وان من امة الا خلا فيها نذيرAnd if they call you a liar, those before them also called [their messengers] liars: their messengers came to them with clear proofs, the Formularies, and the Illuminating Scripture; then I seized those who disowned.
وان يكذبوك فقد كذب الذين من قبلهم جاءتهم رسلهم بالبينت وبالزبر وبالكتب المنير ثم اخذت الذين كفرواAnd how was My disavowal!
فكيف كان نكيرHave you not seen that God sends down water from the sky, by which We bring forth fruits of varying colors?
الم تر ان الله انزل من السماء ماء فاخرجنا به ثمرت مختلفا الونهاAnd in the mountains are tracts, white and red, of varying colors, and others intensely black.
ومن الجبال جدد بيض وحمر مختلف الونها وغرابيب سودAnd among mankind, and beasts, and cattle, there is likewise a variety of colors.
ومن الناس والدواب والانعم مختلف الونه كذلكOnly those among His obedient ones who know truly fear God.
انما يخشى الله من عباده العلمواGod is indeed All-Powerful, Most-Forgiving.
ان الله عزيز غفورThose who recite the Scripture of God, maintain the Contact, and spend, secretly and openly, from what We have provided them, hope for a trade that will never perish, so that He may repay them fully and increase them from His favor.
ان الذين يتلون كتب الله واقاموا الصلوة وانفقوا مما رزقنهم سرا وعلانية يرجون تجرة لن تبور ليوفيهم اجورهم ويزيدهم من فضلهHe is indeed Most-Forgiving, Grateful.
انه غفور شكورAnd what We have revealed to you of the Scripture is the truth, confirming what came before it.
والذي اوحينا اليك من الكتب هو الحق مصدقا لما بين يديهGod is surely, toward His obedient ones, Informed, the One who sees perfectly.
ان الله بعباده لخبير بصيرThen We caused the Scripture to be inherited by those We chose among Our obedient ones:
ثم اورثنا الكتب الذين اصطفينا من عبادناsome of them wrong their own Self,
فمنهم ظالم لنفسهsome follow a moderate course,
ومنهم مقتصدand some race ahead in good deeds, by God's permission.
ومنهم سابق بالخيرت باذن اللهThat is the great favor.
ذلك هو الفضل الكبيرGardens of permanent abode, which they will enter, adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearls,
جنت عدن يدخلونها يحلون فيها من اساور من ذهب ولولواand their garment therein will be silk.
ولباسهم فيها حريرAnd they will say: "Praise be to God, who has removed sorrow from us; our Guardian is surely Most-Forgiving, Grateful,
وقالوا الحمد لله الذي اذهب عنا الحزن ان ربنا لغفور شكورwho has settled us, by His favor, in the abode of everlasting stay, where no fatigue touches us, nor any weariness."
الذي احلنا دار المقامة من فضله لا يمسنا فيها نصب ولا يمسنا فيها لغوبAnd those who disown will have the fire of Jahannam; it will not be decreed for them to die, nor will its punishment be lightened for them.
والذين كفروا لهم نار جهنم لا يقضى عليهم فيموتوا ولا يخفف عنهم من عذابهاThus do We recompense every great disowner.
كذلك نجزي كل كفورAnd there they will cry out: "Our Guardian, bring us out, we will do righteousness, other than what we used to do!"
وهم يصطرخون فيها ربنا اخرجنا نعمل صلحا غير الذي كنا نعملDid We not grant you a life long enough that whoever wished to reflect could reflect? And the warner had come to you.
اولم نعمركم ما يتذكر فيه من تذكر وجاءكم النذيرSo taste,
فذوقواfor the wrongdoers have no helper.
فما للظلمين من نصيرGod knows what escapes the senses in the heavens and the earth;
ان الله علم غيب السموت والارضHe is indeed All-Knowing of what the chests contain.
انه عليم بذات الصدورIt is He who made you successors on the earth:
هو الذي جعلكم خليف في الارضwhoever disowns, his disowning falls back upon him,
فمن كفر فعليه كفرهand the disowning of the disowners only increases them in detestation before their Guardian,
ولا يزيد الكفرين كفرهم عند ربهم الا مقتاand the disowning of the disowners only increases them in loss.
ولا يزيد الكفرين كفرهم الا خساراSay: "Have you seen your partners whom you call upon besides God? Show me what they have created of the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens?
قل ارءيتم شركاءكم الذين تدعون من دون الله اروني ماذا خلقوا من الارض ام لهم شرك في السموتOr have We given them a scripture, so that they rely on clear proofs from it?"
ام ءاتينهم كتبا فهم على بينت منهRather, the wrongdoers promise one another nothing but delusion.
بل ان يعد الظلمون بعضهم بعضا الا غروراGod holds the heavens and the earth, lest they cease to exist;
ان الله يمسك السموت والارض ان تزولاand were they to cease, none besides Him could hold them.
ولين زالتا ان امسكهما من احد من بعدهHe is indeed full of patience, Most-Forgiving.
انه كان حليما غفوراAnd they swore by God their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would surely be better guided than any of the communities.
واقسموا بالله جهد ايمنهم لين جاءهم نذير ليكونن اهدى من احدى الاممBut when a warner came to them, it only increased them in aversion,
فلما جاءهم نذير ما زادهم الا نفوراout of arrogance in the land, and evil plotting.
استكبارا في الارض ومكر السييBut evil plotting only envelops its own doers.
ولا يحيق المكر السيي الا باهلهSo do they await anything but the precedent of the ancients?
فهل ينظرون الا سنت الاولينBut you will never find any change to God's norm,
فلن تجد لسنت الله تبديلاnor will you ever find any shift in God's norm.
ولن تجد لسنت الله تحويلاHave they not traveled through the land and seen what was the end of those before them, who were even greater than them in strength?
اولم يسيروا في الارض فينظروا كيف كان عقبة الذين من قبلهم وكانوا اشد منهم قوةAnd nothing in the heavens or on the earth could render God powerless.
وما كان الله ليعجزه من شىء في السموت ولا في الارضHe is indeed All-Knowing, Able.
انه كان عليما قديراAnd if God were to seize mankind for what they have earned, He would not leave upon it [the earth] any living creature;
ولو يواخذ الله الناس بما كسبوا ما ترك على ظهرها من دابةbut He defers them until an appointed term.
ولكن يوخرهم الى اجل مسمىAnd when their term comes, God sees perfectly His obedient ones.
فاذا جاء اجلهم فان الله كان بعباده بصيرا
