۞

Al-Fath

  • In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. We have granted you a manifest victory, so that God may forgive you your past and future wrongs, complete His favor upon you, guide you along a straight path, and aid you with a mighty aid.i 3
  • It is He who sent down tranquility into the Cores of the believers, so that they might add faith to their faith. 4
  • And to God belong the armies of the heavens and the earth. 4
  • God is All-Knowing, All-Wise — so that He may admit the believing men and the believing women into gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, and cover their bad deeds; that is, with God, an immense triumph — and so that He may punish the hypocrites, men and women, and those who associate [others with God], men and women, who harbor an evil thought about God.i 6
  • Upon them, the cycle of misfortune. 6
  • God became angry with them, cursed them, and prepared Jahannam for them. 6
  • What an evil destination! 6
  • And to God belong the armies of the heavens and the earth. 7
  • God is Mighty, Wise. 7
  • We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of good news, and a warner, so that you may believe in God and His messenger, that you may support him, that you may honor him, and that you may glorify God morning and evening.i 9
  • Those who pledge allegiance to you are in truth pledging allegiance to God. 10
  • The hand of God is above their hands. 10
  • Whoever breaks [this pledge] breaks it only to his own detriment. 10
  • And whoever fulfills the commitment he made to God, [God] will give him an immense reward.i 10
  • The notables who stayed behind will say to you: "Our possessions and our families kept us occupied; so ask forgiveness for us."i 11
  • They say with their tongues what is not in their Cores. 11
  • Say: "Who then has any power over you against God, if He wished to harm you or wished to benefit you?" 11
  • God is rather perfectly informed of what you do. 11
  • You rather thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their own people, and this was made appealing in your Cores; you harbored an evil thought, and you were a ruined people. 12
  • And whoever does not believe in God and His messenger — We have prepared for those who deny a blazing fire. 13
  • And to God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. 14
  • He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. 14
  • God is Forgiving, benevolent. 14
  • Those who stayed behind will say, when you set out to take spoils: "Let us follow you." 15
  • They want to change the word of God. 15
  • Say: "You will never follow us." 15
  • That is what God said before. 15
  • They will then say: "No, you envy us." 15
  • They understood, in fact, only a little. 15
  • Say to those of the notables who stayed behind: "You will be called to [fight] a people of great might; you will fight them, or they will become true to God alone."i 16
  • If you obey, God will give you a fine reward. 16
  • But if you turn away, as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful punishment. 16
  • There is no blame upon the blind, nor blame upon the lame, nor blame upon the sick [if they do not fight]. 17
  • And whoever obeys God and His messenger, [God] will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow.i 17
  • And whoever turns away, [God] will punish him with a painful punishment.i 17
  • God was certainly pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you beneath the tree; He knew what was in their Cores, sent down tranquility upon them, and rewarded them with a near victory and abundant spoils that they will take. 19
  • God is Mighty, Wise. 19
  • God promised you abundant spoils that you would take; He hastened this one for you and held back the hands of the people from you. 20
  • so that it might be a sign for the believers, and that He might guide you along a straight path. 20
  • And another [gain] which you had not yet attained: God has already encompassed it [within His power]. 21
  • God has power over all things. 21
  • And had those who deny fought you, they would have turned their backs, then found neither protector nor helper. 22
  • [Such is] the rule of God, already established before. 23
  • And you will never find any change in the rule of God. 23
  • It is He who held back their hands from you, and your hands from them, in the hollow of Makka, after having given you victory over them.i 24
  • God sees perfectly what you do.i 24
  • It is they who denied and barred you from the inviolable place of prostration, and barred the offering, detained, from reaching its place of delivery.i 25
  • And had it not been for believing men and believing women whom you did not know, [whom] you might have trampled underfoot, so that a fault would have befallen you because of them without your knowing — [He would have prevented you] so that God might admit into His benevolence whom He wills. 25
  • Had they been separated [from one another], We would have punished those of them who denied with a painful punishment. 25
  • When those who denied placed in their Cores fierce zeal, the zeal of ignorance. 26
  • God then sent down His tranquility upon His messenger and upon the believers, and bound them to the word of guardedness, of which they were most worthy and most deserving.i 26
  • God is All-Knowing of all things. 26
  • God has certainly made the vision of His messenger come true, in very truth: you will enter the Sacred Mosque, if God wills, in security, your heads shaved or your hair cut short, without fear. 27
  • He knew what you did not know, and He appointed, before that, a near victory. 27
  • It is He who sent His messenger with guidance and the Law of Truth, so as to make it prevail over the whole Law.i 28
  • And God suffices as a witness. 28
  • Muhammad is the Messenger of God.i 29
  • And those who are with him are firm toward those who deny, benevolent among themselves. 29
  • You see them bowing, prostrating, seeking bounty from God and [His] good pleasure. 29
  • Their mark is on their faces, from the trace of prostration. 29
  • That is their image in the Tawrah. 29
  • And their image in the Injil is that of a seed that puts forth its shoot, strengthens it, and it thickens and stands straight upon its stalk, delighting the sowers — so as to enrage through them those who deny. 29
  • God has promised those of them who believed and did righteous deeds forgiveness and an immense reward. 29
