Sourate Al-Munafiqun (63) with hamza shown

In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Benevolent. When the hypocrites come to you, they say: We testify that you are indeed the messenger of God.i 1

بسم ٱلله ٱلرحمن ٱلرحيم إذا جآءك ٱلمنفقون قالوا نشهد إنك لرسول ٱلله

And God knows that you are indeed His messenger. 1

وٱلله يعلم إنك لرسوله

And God testifies that the hypocrites are surely liars. 1

وٱلله يشهد إن ٱلمنفقين لكذبون

They have taken their oaths as a shield and turned [people] away from the way of God. 2

ٱتخذوا أيمنهم جنة فصدوا عن سبيل ٱلله

How evil is what they used to do! 2

إنهم سآء ما كانوا يعملون

That is because they believed, then denied; so a seal was set upon their cores, and they do not understand. 3

ذلك بأنهم ءامنوا ثم كفروا فطبع على قلوبهم فهم لا يفقهون

And when you see them, their appearance pleases you, 4

وإذا رأيتهم تعجبك أجسامهم

and if they speak, you listen to their speech; they are like propped-up pieces of wood. 4

وإن يقولوا تسمع لقولهم كأنهم خشب مسندة

They think every shout is against them. 4

يحسبون كل صيحة عليهم

They are the enemy. 4

هم ٱلعدو

So beware of them. 4

فٱحذرهم

May God destroy them! 4

قتلهم ٱلله

How are they deluded! 4

أنى يؤفكون

And when it is said to them: Come, that the messenger of God may ask forgiveness for you, they turn their heads aside, and you see them withdrawing while they are arrogant. 5

وإذا قيل لهم تعالوا يستغفر لكم رسول ٱلله لووا رءوسهم ورأيتهم يصدون وهم مستكبرون

It is the same for them whether you ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them. 6

سوآء عليهم أستغفرت لهم أم لم تستغفر لهم

God will never forgive them. 6

لن يغفر ٱلله لهم

Indeed, God does not guide the defiantly disobedient people. 6

إن ٱلله لا يهدي ٱلقوم ٱلفسقين

They are the ones who say: Do not spend on those who are with the messenger of God until they disperse. 7

هم ٱلذين يقولون لا تنفقوا على من عند رسول ٱلله حتى ينفضوا

But to God belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth, 7

ولله خزآئن ٱلسموت وٱلأرض

but the hypocrites do not understand. 7

ولكن ٱلمنفقين لا يفقهون

They say: If we return to the Capital, the more honorable will surely expel the more despicable therefrom. 8

يقولون لئن رجعنآ إلى ٱلمدينة ليخرجن ٱلأعز منها ٱلأذل

But to God belongs honor, and to His messenger, and to the believers, 8

ولله ٱلعزة ولرسوله وللمؤمنين

but the hypocrites do not know. 8

ولكن ٱلمنفقين لا يعلمون

O you who believe! Let not your wealth or your children distract you from the remembrance of God. 9

يأيها ٱلذين ءامنوا لا تلهكم أمولكم ولآ أولدكم عن ذكر ٱلله

And whoever does that — those are the losers. 9

ومن يفعل ذلك فأولئك هم ٱلخسرون

And spend from what We have provided you before death comes to one of you, and he says: My Guardian, if only You would delay me for a short term, that I might give charity and be among the righteous. 10

وأنفقوا من ما رزقنكم من قبل أن يأتي أحدكم ٱلموت فيقول رب لولآ أخرتني إلى أجل قريب فأصدق وأكن من ٱلصلحين

But God will never delay a Self when its term has come. 11

ولن يؤخر ٱلله نفسا إذا جآء أجلها

And God is Well Acquainted with what you do. 11

وٱلله خبير بما تعملون
