Sourate Al-Muzzammil (73) with hamza shown

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. O you who are wrapped up! Stand in prayer the night, except a little — half of it, or subtract from it a little, or add to it — and recite the Recitation with measured, distinct recitation.i 4

بسم ٱلله ٱلرحمن ٱلرحيم يأيها ٱلمزمل قم ٱليل إلا قليلا نصفه أو ٱنقص منه قليلا أو زد عليه ورتل ٱلقرءان ترتيلا

Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5

إنا سنلقي عليك قولا ثقيلا

Indeed, the rising of the night is more effective for concurrence of heart and tongue, and more suitable for words. 6

إن ناشئة ٱليل هي أشد وطا وأقوم قيلا

Indeed, you have during the day a long occupation. 7

إن لك في ٱلنهار سبحا طويلا

And remember the name of your Guardian and devote yourself to Him with complete devotion. 8

وٱذكر ٱسم ربك وتبتل إليه تبتيلا

Guardian of the East and the West; 9

رب ٱلمشرق وٱلمغرب

there is no deity except Him; 9

لآ إله إلا هو

so take Him as an agent.i 9

فٱتخذه وكيلا

And be patient over what they say 10

وٱصبر على ما يقولون

and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10

وٱهجرهم هجرا جميلا

And leave Me with the deniers, those of ease, and allow them respite a little. 11

وذرني وٱلمكذبين أولي ٱلنعمة ومهلهم قليلا

Indeed, with Us are shackles and a blazing fire, and food that chokes, and a painful punishment — on the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse, and the mountains will become a heap of poured-out sand. 14

إن لدينآ أنكالا وجحيما وطعاما ذا غصة وعذابا أليما يوم ترجف ٱلأرض وٱلجبال وكانت ٱلجبال كثيبا مهيلا

Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you, just as We sent to Fir'awn a messenger. But Fir'awn disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.i 16

إنآ أرسلنآ إليكم رسولا شهدا عليكم كمآ أرسلنآ إلى فرعون رسولا فعصى فرعون ٱلرسول فأخذنه أخذا وبيلا

Then how, if you deny, will you guard yourselves on a Day that will turn children gray-haired, a Day the heaven will break apart therefrom? 18

فكيف تتقون إن كفرتم يوما يجعل ٱلولدن شيبا ٱلسمآء منفطر به

His promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18

كان وعده مفعولا

Indeed, this is a reminder. 19

إن هذه تذكرة

So whoever wills may take, toward his Guardian, a way. 19

فمن شآء ٱتخذ إلى ربه سبيلا

Indeed, your Guardian knows that you stand in prayer a little less than two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or a third of it, as do a group of those with you. 20

إن ربك يعلم أنك تقوم أدنى من ثلثى ٱليل ونصفه وثلثه وطآئفة من ٱلذين معك

And God determines the night and the day. 20

وٱلله يقدر ٱليل وٱلنهار

He knows that you will never count it, so He has turned to you in forgiveness. 20

علم أن لن تحصوه فتاب عليكم

So recite what is feasible of the Recitation. 20

فٱقرءوا ما تيسر من ٱلقرءان

He knows that there will be among you sick, and others traveling throughout the land seeking of the bounty of God, and others fighting in the cause of God. 20

علم أن سيكون منكم مرضى وءاخرون يضربون في ٱلأرض يبتغون من فضل ٱلله وءاخرون يقتلون في سبيل ٱلله

So recite what is feasible from it, 20

فٱقرءوا ما تيسر منه

and maintain the Contact and give charity, 20

وأقيموا ٱلصلوة وءاتوا ٱلزكوة

and lend to God a goodly loan. 20

وأقرضوا ٱلله قرضا حسنا

And whatever good you put forth for yourselves, you will find it with God, better and greater in reward. 20

وما تقدموا لأنفسكم من خير تجدوه عند ٱلله هو خيرا وأعظم أجرا

And seek forgiveness of God; 20

وٱستغفروا ٱلله

indeed, God is Forgiving, benevolent. 20

إن ٱلله غفور رحيم
