Al-Qiyama

  • In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. I swear by the Day of Appearance, and I swear by the self-reproaching Self.i 2
  • Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? Yes indeed! 4
  • We are able to restore even his fingertips. 4
  • But man desires to persist in transgression before him. 5
  • He asks, "When is the Day of Appearance?"i 6
  • So when the sight is dazzled, and the moon eclipses, and the sun and the moon are joined together, man will say on that Day, "Where is the escape?" 10
  • No! There is no refuge. 11
  • To your Guardian, that Day, is the final place of rest. 12
  • Man will be informed, that Day, of what he sent forward and left behind. 13
  • Rather, man is, over himself, a clear witness, even if he presents his excuses. 15
  • Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it; 16
  • upon Us is its collection and its recitation. 17
  • then, when We have recited it, follow its recitation; then, indeed, upon Us is its explanation. 19
  • No indeed! But you love the immediate life, and leave behind the Hereafter. 21
  • Some faces, that Day, will be radiant, looking toward their Guardian. 23
  • And some faces, that Day, will be gloomy, thinking that a great calamity is about to befall them. 25
  • No indeed! When it reaches the collarbones, and it is said, "Who will cure him?" and he becomes certain that it is the parting, and the leg is wound about the leg — to your Guardian, that Day, will be the drive. 30
  • For he had not believed, nor made contact,i 31
  • but he denied and turned away, 32
  • then he went to his people, walking in vain pride. 33
  • Woe to you, and woe! Then woe to you, and woe! 35
  • Does man think that he will be left neglected? 36
  • Was he not a drop of ejected semen? Then he was a clinging clot; then He created and proportioned him, and made of him two mates, the male and the female. 39
  • Is that One not able to give life to the dead? 40
