Sourate Al-Insan (76) with hamza shown

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Has there come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning?i 1

بسم ٱلله ٱلرحمن ٱلرحيم هل أتى على ٱلإنسن حين من ٱلدهر لم يكن شيا مذكورا

Indeed, We created man from a mingled drop, to test him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2

إنا خلقنا ٱلإنسن من نطفة أمشاج نبتليه فجعلنه سميعا بصيرا

Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3

إنا هدينه ٱلسبيل إما شاكرا وإما كفورا

Indeed, We have prepared for the deniers chains, shackles, and a blazing fire. 4

إنآ أعتدنا للكفرين سلسلا وأغللا وسعيرا

Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup mixed with camphor, a spring from which the obedient ones of God drink, making it gush forth abundantly. 6

إن ٱلأبرار يشربون من كأس كان مزاجها كافورا عينا يشرب بها عباد ٱلله يفجرونها تفجيرا

They fulfill their vows, and they fear a Day whose evil spreads far and wide. 7

يوفون بٱلنذر ويخافون يوما كان شره مستطيرا

And they give food, despite their love for it, to the destitute, the orphan, and the captive: "We feed you only for the face of God;i 9

ويطعمون ٱلطعام على حبه مسكينا ويتيما وأسيرا إنما نطعمكم لوجه ٱلله

we desire from you neither reward nor gratitude. 9

لا نريد منكم جزآء ولا شكورا

Indeed, we fear from our Guardian a Day, austere and dreadful." 10

إنا نخاف من ربنا يوما عبوسا قمطريرا

So God will protect them from the evil of that Day and will grant them radiance and joy. 11

فوقىهم ٱلله شر ذلك ٱليوم ولقىهم نضرة وسرورا

And He will reward them, for what they patiently endured, with a garden and silk, reclining therein upon adorned couches, seeing therein neither sun nor bitter cold; its shades will hang close over them, and its clusters of fruit will be brought low, within easy reach. 14

وجزىهم بما صبروا جنة وحريرا متكين فيها على ٱلأرآئك لا يرون فيها شمسا ولا زمهريرا ودانية عليهم ظللها وذللت قطوفها تذليلا

There will circulate among them vessels of silver and goblets that were as clear as crystal, 15

ويطاف عليهم بانية من فضة وأكواب كانت قواريرا

crystal of silver, whose measure they have determined precisely. 16

قواريرا من فضة قدروها تقديرا

And they will be given to drink there a cup mixed with ginger, from a spring therein called Salsabil. 18

ويسقون فيها كأسا كان مزاجها زنجبيلا عينا فيها تسمى سلسبيلا

There will circulate among them youths made eternal; when you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19

ويطوف عليهم ولدن مخلدون إذا رأيتهم حسبتهم لؤلؤا منثورا

And when you look there, you will see bliss and a vast dominion: upon them will be garments of fine green silk and brocade. 21

وإذا رأيت ثم رأيت نعيما وملكا كبيرا عليهم ثياب سندس خضر وإستبرق

And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. 21

وحلوا أساور من فضة

And their Guardian will give them to drink a purely purifying drink. 21

وسقىهم ربهم شرابا طهورا

Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been met with gratitude. 22

إن هذا كان لكم جزآء وكان سعيكم مشكورا

Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you the Recitation, a gradual sending down. 23

إنا نحن نزلنا عليك ٱلقرءان تنزيلا

So be patient for the judgment of your Guardian, and do not obey among them a transgressor or an ingrate. 24

فٱصبر لحكم ربك ولا تطع منهم ءاثما أو كفورا

And remember the name of your Guardian morning and evening. 25

وٱذكر ٱسم ربك بكرة وأصيلا

And during a part of the night prostrate to Him, and glorify Him a long portion of the night. 26

ومن ٱليل فٱسجد له وسبحه ليلا طويلا

Indeed, these love the fleeting life, and leave behind them a heavy Day. 27

إن هؤلآء يحبون ٱلعاجلة ويذرون ورآءهم يوما ثقيلا

It is We who created them and strengthened their frame; and were We to will it, We could replace them entirely with their likenesses. 28

نحن خلقنهم وشددنآ أسرهم وإذا شئنا بدلنآ أمثلهم تبديلا

Indeed, this is a reminder. 29

إن هذه تذكرة

So whoever wills may take, toward his Guardian, a way. 29

فمن شآء ٱتخذ إلى ربه سبيلا

And you will not, unless God wills. 30

وما تشآءون إلآ أن يشآء ٱلله

Indeed, God is ever Knowing, Wise. 30

إن ٱلله كان عليما حكيما

He admits whom He wills into His benevolence. 31

يدخل من يشآء في رحمته

And for the wrongdoers, He has prepared a painful punishment. 31

وٱلظلمين أعد لهم عذابا أليما
