سورة 79
۞
An-Nazi'at
-
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. By those who tear away violently, those who release gently, those who glide swiftly, those who race ahead, those who govern the affair — the Day the first quaking quakes, followed by the one that comes after,i 7
بسم ٱلله ٱلرحمن ٱلرحيم وٱلنزعت غرقا وٱلنشطت نشطا وٱلسبحت سبحا فٱلسبقت سبقا فٱلمدبرت أمرا يوم ترجف ٱلراجفة تتبعها ٱلرادفة -
cores, that Day, will tremble, their eyes humbled. 9
قلوب يومئذ واجفة أبصرها خشعة -
They say, "Are we indeed to be returned to our former state, once we have become decayed bones?" 11
يقولون أءنا لمردودون في ٱلحافرة أءذا كنا عظما نخرة -
They say, "That, then, would be a losing return!" Yet it will be but a single blast, and there they are, upon the surface of the earth. 14
قالوا تلك إذا كرة خاسرة فإنما هي زجرة وحدة فإذا هم بٱلساهرة -
Has the story of Moussa reached you? When his Guardian called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa,i 16
هل أتىك حديث موسى إذ نادىه ربه بٱلواد ٱلمقدس طوى -
"Go to Fir'awn; indeed, he has transgressed all bounds. And say to him, 'Would you [be willing] to purify yourself, that I may guide you to your Guardian, so that you may hold Him in awe?'"i 19
ٱذهب إلى فرعون إنه طغى فقل هل لك إلى أن تزكى وأهديك إلى ربك فتخشى -
So he showed him the greatest sign; but he denied and disobeyed. Then he turned his back, striving, and gathered [his people], and called out, and said, "I am your guardian, the most high." So God seized him with the punishment of the last and the first. 25
فأرىه ٱلءاية ٱلكبرى فكذب وعصى ثم أدبر يسعى فحشر فنادى فقال أنا ربكم ٱلأعلى فأخذه ٱلله نكال ٱلءاخرة وٱلأولى -
Indeed, in that is a lesson for whoever holds [Him] in awe. 26
إن في ذلك لعبرة لمن يخشى -
Are you more difficult to create, or is the sky? 27
ءأنتم أشد خلقا أم ٱلسمآء -
He built it, raised its vault, and balanced it; and He darkened its night and brought forth its morning light. 29
بنىها رفع سمكها فسوىها وأغطش ليلها وأخرج ضحىها -
And the earth, after that, He spread out; He brought forth from it its water and its pasture, and the mountains, He set them firm — as provision for you and your livestock. 33
وٱلأرض بعد ذلك دحىهآ أخرج منها مآءها ومرعىها وٱلجبال أرسىها متعا لكم ولأنعمكم -
Then, when the greatest Overwhelming Event comes — the Day man will remember what he strove for, and the Blaze will be laid open for all to see,i 36
فإذا جآءت ٱلطآمة ٱلكبرى يوم يتذكر ٱلإنسن ما سعى وبرزت ٱلجحيم لمن يرى -
as for him who transgressed and preferred the present life, then the Blaze will be his refuge;i 39
فأما من طغى وءاثر ٱلحيوة ٱلدنيا فإن ٱلجحيم هي ٱلمأوى -
but as for him who feared standing before his Guardian, and turned the Self away from following emotion over reason, then the Garden will be his refuge. 41
وأما من خاف مقام ربه ونهى ٱلنفس عن ٱلهوى فإن ٱلجنة هي ٱلمأوى -
They ask you about the Hour, when it shall anchor. 42
يسلونك عن ٱلساعة أيان مرسىها -
What have you to do with mentioning it? 43
فيم أنت من ذكرىهآ -
To your Guardian is its final end. 44
إلى ربك منتهىهآ -
You are only the warner of whoever holds it in awe. 45
إنمآ أنت منذر من يخشىها -
It will seem to them, the Day they see it, as though they had remained no more than an evening, or its morning. 46
كأنهم يوم يرونها لم يلبثوا إلا عشية أو ضحىها
