Sourate Al-Inshiqaq (84) with hamza shown

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. When the sky splits open, and obeys its Guardian — and it is obligated to do so —, and when the earth is extended, and casts out what is within it and empties itself, and obeys its Guardian — and it is obligated to do so.i 5

بسم ٱلله ٱلرحمن ٱلرحيم إذا ٱلسمآء ٱنشقت وأذنت لربها وحقت وإذا ٱلأرض مدت وألقت ما فيها وتخلت وأذنت لربها وحقت

O mankind! Indeed, you are laboring toward your Guardian with great exertion and will meet Him. 6

يأيها ٱلإنسن إنك كادح إلى ربك كدحا فملقيه

Then as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will be judged with an easy account, and return to his people in joy.i 9

فأما من أوتي كتبه بيمينه فسوف يحاسب حسابا يسيرا وينقلب إلى أهله مسرورا

But as for him who is given his record behind his back, he will cry out for destruction, and he will burn in a blazing fire.i 12

وأما من أوتي كتبه ورآء ظهره فسوف يدعوا ثبورا ويصلى سعيرا

Indeed, he had been joyful among his people. 13

إنه كان في أهله مسرورا

Indeed, he thought he would never return. But yes! 15

إنه ظن أن لن يحور بلى

Indeed, his Guardian was ever observing him. 15

إن ربه كان به بصيرا

So I swear by the twilight glow, and by the night and what it envelops, and by the moon when it becomes full! You will surely embark upon state after state. 19

فلآ أقسم بٱلشفق وٱليل وما وسق وٱلقمر إذا ٱتسق لتركبن طبقا عن طبق

So what is the matter with them that they do not believe? And when the Recitation is read to them, they do not prostrate? 21

فما لهم لا يؤمنون وإذا قرئ عليهم ٱلقرءان لا يسجدون

Rather, those who reject deny, and God knows best what they hoard. 23

بل ٱلذين كفروا يكذبون وٱلله أعلم بما يوعون

So give them the tidings of a painful punishment, 24

فبشرهم بعذاب أليم

except for those who believe and do righteous deeds; for them is a reward uninterrupted. 25

إلا ٱلذين ءامنوا وعملوا ٱلصلحت لهم أجر غير ممنون
