Sourate Al-Buruj (85) with hamza shown

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. By the sky containing constellations! And by the promised Day! And by a witness and what is witnessed! Destroyed were the people of the trench, of the fire richly fueled, when they sat around it, and were witnesses to what they were doing to the believers.i 7

بسم ٱلله ٱلرحمن ٱلرحيم وٱلسمآء ذات ٱلبروج وٱليوم ٱلموعود وشاهد ومشهود قتل أصحب ٱلأخدود ٱلنار ذات ٱلوقود إذ هم عليها قعود وهم على ما يفعلون بٱلمؤمنين شهود

And they resented them only because they believed in God, the All-Powerful, the Praiseworthy, to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth.i 9

وما نقموا منهم إلآ أن يؤمنوا بٱلله ٱلعزيز ٱلحميد ٱلذي له ملك ٱلسموت وٱلأرض

And God is Witness over all things. 9

وٱلله على كل شىء شهيد

Indeed, those who tormented the believing men and believing women and then did not repent will have the punishment of Jahannam, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire. 10

إن ٱلذين فتنوا ٱلمؤمنين وٱلمؤمنت ثم لم يتوبوا فلهم عذاب جهنم ولهم عذاب ٱلحريق

Indeed, those who believed and did righteous deeds will have Gardens beneath which rivers flow. 11

إن ٱلذين ءامنوا وعملوا ٱلصلحت لهم جنت تجري من تحتها ٱلأنهر

That is the great success. 11

ذلك ٱلفوز ٱلكبير

Indeed, the strike of your Guardian is severe. 12

إن بطش ربك لشديد

Indeed, it is He who originates and remakes. 13

إنه هو يبدئ ويعيد

And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, Lord of the Edifice,i 15

وهو ٱلغفور ٱلودود ذو ٱلعرش

the Glorious, Doer of whatever He wills. 16

ٱلمجيد فعال لما يريد

Has there reached you the account of the armies, of Fir'awn and Thamud?i 18

هل أتىك حديث ٱلجنود فرعون وثمود

Yet those who reject the truth persist in denial, and God encompasses them from behind. 20

بل ٱلذين كفروا في تكذيب وٱلله من ورآئهم محيط

Rather, it is a glorious Recitation, upon a Preserved Tablet. 22

بل هو قرءان مجيد في لوح محفوظ
