Sourate Al-Fajr (89) with hamza shown

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. By the dawn! By ten nights! By the one who is seconded, and the one who is deprived! By the night when it passes! Is there in that an oath for one endowed with reason?i 5

بسم ٱلله ٱلرحمن ٱلرحيم وٱلفجر وليال عشر وٱلشفع وٱلوتر وٱليل إذا يسر هل في ذلك قسم لذي حجر

Have you not seen how your Guardian dealt with the Recidivists [Aad], with Iram of the lofty pillars, the like of which had never been created in the lands? And with the Depleters [Thamud], who carved the rock in the valley? And with Fir'awn, holder of the stakes? Those who transgressed all bounds in the lands and multiplied corruption therein — so your Guardian poured upon them a scourge of punishment.i 13

ألم تر كيف فعل ربك بعاد إرم ذات ٱلعماد ٱلتي لم يخلق مثلها في ٱلبلد وثمود ٱلذين جابوا ٱلصخر بٱلواد وفرعون ذي ٱلأوتاد ٱلذين طغوا في ٱلبلد فأكثروا فيها ٱلفساد فصب عليهم ربك سوط عذاب

Indeed, your Guardian is ever watchful. 14

إن ربك لبٱلمرصاد

As for man, when his Guardian tries him and honors him and blesses him, he says, "My Guardian has honored me." 15

فأما ٱلإنسن إذا ما ٱبتلىه ربه فأكرمه ونعمه فيقول ربي أكرمن

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Guardian has humiliated me." 17

وأمآ إذا ما ٱبتلىه فقدر عليه رزقه فيقول ربي أهنن كلا

No! But you do not honor the orphan, and you do not urge one another to feed the destitute, and you consume the inheritance with voracious greed, and you love wealth with immense love.i 21

بل لا تكرمون ٱليتيم ولا تحضون على طعام ٱلمسكين وتأكلون ٱلتراث أكلا لما وتحبون ٱلمال حبا جما كلآ

When the earth is crushed and pulverized, and your Guardian comes, and the Agents, rank upon rank, and Jahannam is brought, that Day — that Day man will remember, but what good will remembrance be to him then?i 23

إذا دكت ٱلأرض دكا دكا وجآء ربك وٱلملك صفا صفا وجايء يومئذ بجهنم يومئذ يتذكر ٱلإنسن وأنى له ٱلذكرى

He will say, "Oh, if only I had sent good ahead for my true life!" 24

يقول يليتني قدمت لحياتي

That Day, none will punish as He punishes, and none will bind as He binds. 26

فيومئذ لا يعذب عذابه أحد ولا يوثق وثاقه أحد

O reassured Self! Return to your Guardian, well-pleased and pleasing. Enter among My obedient ones, and enter My Garden! 30

يأيتها ٱلنفس ٱلمطمئنة ٱرجعي إلى ربك راضية مرضية فٱدخلي في عبدي وٱدخلي جنتي
