Saying Without Doing
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Whatever is in the heavens and on the earth has glorified God,
بسم ٱلله ٱلرحمن ٱلرحيم سبح لله ما في ٱلسموت وما في ٱلأرضand He is the All-Powerful, the Wise.
وهو ٱلعزيز ٱلحكيمO you who have believed! Why do you say what you do not do?
يأيها ٱلذين ءامنوا لم تقولون ما لا تفعلونIt is greatly abhorrent to God that you say what you do not do.
كبر مقتا عند ٱلله أن تقولوا ما لا تفعلونIndeed, God loves those who fight in His way in ranks, as if they were a compact structure.
إن ٱلله يحب ٱلذين يقتلون في سبيله صفا كأنهم بنين مرصوصAnd when Moussa said to his people: O my people, why do you trouble me, when you know that I am the messenger of God sent to you?
وإذ قال موسى لقومه يقوم لم تؤذونني وقد تعلمون أني رسول ٱلله إليكمSo when they deviated, God caused their cores to deviate.
فلما زاغوا أزاغ ٱلله قلوبهمAnd God does not guide the people of the oversteppers.
وٱلله لا يهدي ٱلقوم ٱلفسقينAnd when Issa, son of Maryam, said: O sons of Israel! I am the messenger of God to you, confirming what came before me of the Tawrah, and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose attribute is: the most worthy of praise.
وإذ قال عيسى ٱبن مريم يبني إسرءيل إني رسول ٱلله إليكم مصدقا لما بين يدى من ٱلتورىة ومبشرا برسول يأتي من بعدي ٱسمه أحمدBut when he brought them clear proofs, they said: This is manifest illusion.
فلما جآءهم بٱلبينت قالوا هذا سحر مبينAnd who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about God while he is being called to true adherence to God?
ومن أظلم ممن ٱفترى على ٱلله ٱلكذب وهو يدعى إلى ٱلإسلمAnd God does not guide the wrongdoing people.
وٱلله لا يهدي ٱلقوم ٱلظلمينThey want to extinguish the light of God with their mouths, but God perfects His light, however much those who disown detest it.
يريدون ليطفوا نور ٱلله بأفوههم وٱلله متم نوره ولو كره ٱلكفرونIt is He who sent His messenger with the guidance and the Law of truth, so as to make it prevail over every [other] law, however much the associators detest it.
هو ٱلذي أرسل رسوله بٱلهدى ودين ٱلحق ليظهره على ٱلدين كله ولو كره ٱلمشركونO you who have believed! Shall I guide you to a trade that will save you from a painful punishment? You believe in God and His messenger, and strive in the way of God with your goods and your Selves — that is better for you, if you but knew. He will forgive you your offenses and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of permanent abode.
يأيها ٱلذين ءامنوا هل أدلكم على تجرة تنجيكم من عذاب أليم تؤمنون بٱلله ورسوله وتجهدون في سبيل ٱلله بأمولكم وأنفسكم ذلكم خير لكم إن كنتم تعلمون يغفر لكم ذنوبكم ويدخلكم جنت تجري من تحتها ٱلأنهر ومسكن طيبة في جنت عدنThat is the immense triumph.
ذلك ٱلفوز ٱلعظيمAnd another thing you love: help from God and a near victory.
وأخرى تحبونها نصر من ٱلله وفتح قريبSo give good news to the believers.
وبشر ٱلمؤمنينO you who have believed! Be helpers of God, just as Issa, son of Maryam, said to the disciples: Who are my helpers toward God?
يأيها ٱلذين ءامنوا كونوا أنصار ٱلله كما قال عيسى ٱبن مريم للحوارين من أنصاري إلى ٱللهThe disciples said: We are the helpers of God.
قال ٱلحواريون نحن أنصار ٱللهSo a group of the sons of Israel believed, and a group disowned.
فامنت طآئفة من بني إسرءيل وكفرت طآئفةSo We supported those who believed against their enemy, and they became dominant.
فأيدنا ٱلذين ءامنوا على عدوهم فأصبحوا ظهرين
