As-Saffat

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. By those that range themselves in ranks, by those who rumble with force, by those who recite the Reminder: your deity is surely one,

ٮسم الله الرحمں الرحٮم والصڡٮ صڡا ڡالرحرٮ رحرا ڡالٮلٮٮ دكرا اں الهكم لوحد

Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Guardian of the risings.

رٮ السموٮ والارص وما ٮٮٮهما ورٮ المسرٯ

We have adorned the nearest heaven with the adornment of the heavenly bodies,

اٮا رٮٮا السما الدٮٮا ٮرٮٮه الكواكٮ

and preserved it from every rebellious Diverter,

وحڡطا مں كل سٮطں مارد

who cannot listen to the sublime court, and are pelted from every side,

لا ٮسمعوں الى الملا الاعلى وٮڡدڡوں مں كل حاٮٮ

driven away violently;

دحورا

and they have an unceasing punishment — except him who snatches a scrap in flight: a blazing, piercing projectile then pursues him.

ولهم عداٮ واصٮ الا مں حطڡ الحطڡه ڡاٮٮعه سهاٮ ٮاڡٮ

We indeed created them from a clinging clay.

اٮا حلڡٮهم مں طٮں لارٮ

But you marvel, while they scoff;

ٮل عحٮٮ وٮسحروں

and when they are reminded, they do not remember;

وادا دكروا لا ٮدكروں

and when they see a sign, they redouble their scoffing,

وادا راوا اٮه ٮسٮسحروں

and say: "This is nothing but a manifest illusion. When we are dead, earth and bones, shall we really be raised? And our earliest forefathers too?"

وڡالوا اں هدا الا سحر مٮٮں ادا مٮٮا وكٮا ٮراٮا وعطما اٮا لمٮعوٮوں اواٮاوٮا الاولوں

Say: "Yes, and you will be abased."

ڡل ٮعم واٮٮم دحروں

It will be but a single rumbling blast, and there they are, looking on,

ڡاٮما هى رحره وحده ڡادا هم ٮٮطروں

and they will say: "Woe to us, this is the Day of the Due!"

وڡالوا ٮوٮلٮا هدا ٮوم الدٮں

"This is the Day of Separation, which you used to deny."

هدا ٮوم الڡصل الدى كٮٮم ٮه ٮكدٮوں

"Gather those who did wrong, their spouses, and what they used to obey besides God, then guide them to the path of the Blaze,

احسروا الدٮں طلموا واروحهم وما كاٮوا ٮعٮدوں مں دوں الله ڡاهدوهم الى صرط الححٮم

and halt them: they are indeed to be questioned."

وڡڡوهم اٮهم مسولوں

"What is wrong with you, that you do not help one another?"

ما لكم لا ٮٮاصروں

No, that day, they are utterly submissive.

ٮل هم الٮوم مسٮسلموں

And they turn to one another, questioning each other.

واڡٮل ٮعصهم على ٮعص ٮٮسالوں

They say: "It was you who used to come at us from the right."

ڡالوا اٮكم كٮٮم ٮاٮوٮٮا عں الٮمٮں

They say: "No, it was you who were not believers;

ڡالوا ٮل لم ٮكوٮوا مومٮٮں

and we had no authority over you — you were rather a people who exceeded all measure.

وما كاں لٮا علٮكم مں سلطں ٮل كٮٮم ڡوما طعٮں

So our Guardian's saying has proven true against us: we shall surely taste. We made you err — we were ourselves errant."

ڡحٯ علٮٮا ڡول رٮٮا اٮا لداٮڡوں ڡاعوٮٮكم اٮا كٮا عوٮں

That day, they are indeed associates in the punishment.

ڡاٮهم ٮومٮد ڡى العداٮ مسٮركوں

Thus do We deal with the severed.

اٮا كدلك ٮڡعل ٮالمحرمٮں

Whenever it was said to them, "There is no deity but God," they would grow proud and say: "Shall we really leave our deities for a deranged seductive orator?"

اٮهم كاٮوا ادا ڡٮل لهم لا اله الا الله ٮسٮكٮروں وٮڡولوں اٮٮا لٮاركوا الهٮٮا لساعر محٮوں

No, he came with the truth, and declared the envoys veracious.

ٮل حا ٮالحٯ وصدٯ المرسلٮں

You will surely taste the painful punishment,

اٮكم لداٮڡوا العداٮ الالٮم

and you will be recompensed only for what you used to do — except the refined obedient ones of God:

وما ٮحروں الا ما كٮٮم ٮعملوں الا عٮاد الله المحلصٮں

those have a known provision, savoury fruits,

اولٮك لهم ررٯ معلوم ڡوكه

and they are honored in the gardens of bliss, on couches, facing one another.

وهم مكرموں ڡى حٮٮ الٮعٮم على سرر مٮڡٮلٮں

A cup of spring water will be passed among them, white, delightful for those who drink it, causing no headache and no intoxication,

ٮطاڡ علٮهم ٮكاس مں معٮں ٮٮصا لده للسرٮٮں لا ڡٮها عول ولا هم عٮها ٮٮرڡوں

and beside them will be companions of reserved gaze, of support, as though they were well-sheltered eggs.

وعٮدهم ڡصرٮ الطرڡ عٮں كاٮهں ٮٮص مكٮوں

And they turn to one another, questioning each other.

ڡاڡٮل ٮعصهم على ٮعص ٮٮسالوں

One of them says: "I had an acolyte who used to say: 'Are you really one of those who declare this true? When we are dead, earth and bones, shall we really be indebted?'"

ڡال ڡاٮل مٮهم اٮى كاں لى ڡرٮں ٮڡول اٮك لمں المصدڡٮں ادا مٮٮا وكٮا ٮراٮا وعطما اٮا لمدٮٮوں

He says: "Do you wish to look?" So he looked, and saw him in the midst of the Blaze.

ڡال هل اٮٮم مطلعوں ڡاطلع ڡراه ڡى سوا الححٮم

He says: "By God, you nearly caused my fall; and were it not for my Guardian's blessing, I would have been among those brought forth.

ڡال ٮالله اں كدٮ لٮردٮں ولولا ٮعمه رٮى لكٮٮ مں المحصرٮں

Are we then not to die, except our first death, and not to be punished?"

اڡما ٮحں ٮمٮٮٮں الا موٮٮٮا الاولى وما ٮحں ٮمعدٮٮں

This is surely the immense triumph!

اں هدا لهو الڡور العطٮم

It is for the like of this that those who act should act.

لمٮل هدا ڡلٮعمل العملوں

Is that a better welcome, or the tree of Zaqqoum?

ادلك حٮر ٮرلا ام سحره الرڡوم

We have indeed made it a trial for the wrongdoers:

اٮا حعلٮها ڡٮٮه للطلمٮں

it is a tree that comes out at the root of the Blaze, whose spathes resemble the heads of Diverters.

اٮها سحره ٮحرح ڡى اصل الححٮم طلعها كاٮه روس السٮطٮں

They will surely eat from it and fill their bellies with it; then on top of it they will surely have a brew of boiling water.

ڡاٮهم لاكلوں مٮها ڡمالوں مٮها الٮطوں ٮم اں لهم علٮها لسوٮا مں حمٮم

Then their return will surely be to the Blaze.

ٮم اں مرحعهم لالى الححٮم

They indeed found their ancestors astray, and rushed headlong in their footsteps.

اٮهم الڡوا اٮاهم صالٮں ڡهم على اٮرهم ٮهرعوں

And indeed, before them, most of the earlier peoples had gone astray,

ولڡد صل ڡٮلهم اكٮر الاولٮں

and We had certainly sent warners among them.

ولڡد ارسلٮا ڡٮهم مٮدرٮں

So look at what was the end of those who were warned — except the refined obedient ones of God.

ڡاٮطر كٮڡ كاں عڡٮه المٮدرٮں الا عٮاد الله المحلصٮں

and what an excellent Responder We are!

ڡلٮعم المحٮٮوں

And We saved him and his household from the immense distress,

وٮحٮٮه واهله مں الكرٮ العطٮم

and We made his descendants the ones who remain.

وحعلٮا درٮٮه هم الٮاڡٮں

And We left upon him, among later generations:

وٮركٮا علٮه ڡى الاحرٮں

"Peace upon Nuh, among all beings!"

سلم على ٮوح ڡى العلمٮں

Thus do We recompense those who do good.

اٮا كدلك ٮحرى المحسٮٮں

He was among Our believing obedient ones.

اٮه مں عٮادٮا المومٮٮں

Then We drowned the others.

ٮم اعرڡٮا الاحرٮں

And Ibrahim was surely of his camp, when he came to his Guardian with an intact core, when he said to his father and his people: "What do you obey?

واں مں سٮعٮه لاٮرهٮم اد حا رٮه ٮڡلٮ سلٮم اد ڡال لاٮٮه وڡومه مادا ٮعٮدوں

Is it a distortion that you want, deities besides God?

اٮڡكا الهه دوں الله ٮرٮدوں

What then is your presumption about the Guardian of all beings?"

ڡما طٮكم ٮرٮ العلمٮں

He cast a glance at the stars, and said: "I am unwell"; so they turned their backs on him, departing.

ڡٮطر ٮطره ڡى الٮحوم ڡڡال اٮى سڡٮم ڡٮولوا عٮه مدٮرٮں

Then he stole away to their deities, and said: "Do you not eat? What is wrong with you, that you utter nothing?"

ڡراع الى الهٮهم ڡڡال الا ٮاكلوں ما لكم لا ٮٮطڡوں

Then he turned upon them, striking with his right hand; then they came forward rushing toward him.

ڡراع علٮهم صرٮا ٮالٮمٮں ڡاڡٮلوا الٮه ٮرڡوں

He said: "Do you obey what you carve, when God created you and what you make?"

ڡال اٮعٮدوں ما ٮٮحٮوں والله حلڡكم وما ٮعملوں

They said: "Build him a structure, and cast him into the Blaze!" They intended a scheme against him, but We made them the lowest.

ڡالوا اٮٮوا له ٮٮٮٮا ڡالڡوه ڡى الححٮم ڡارادوا ٮه كٮدا ڡحعلٮهم الاسڡلٮں

And he said: "I am going to my Guardian; He will guide me.

وڡال اٮى داهٮ الى رٮى سٮهدٮں

My Guardian, bestow on me one of those who are sound."

رٮ هٮ لى مں الصلحٮں

So We gave him glad tidings of a forbearing boy.

ڡٮسرٮه ٮعلم حلٮم

you will find me, if God wills, among the patient."

سٮحدٮى اں سا الله مں الصٮرٮں

Thus do We recompense those who do good.

اٮا كدلك ٮحرى المحسٮٮں

This was surely the manifest testing.

اں هدا لهو الٮلوا المٮٮں

And We ransomed him with an immense sacrifice.

وڡدٮٮه ٮدٮح عطٮم

And We left upon him, among later generations:

وٮركٮا علٮه ڡى الاحرٮں

"Peace upon Ibrahim!"

سلم على اٮرهٮم

Thus do We recompense those who do good.

كدلك ٮحرى المحسٮٮں

He was among Our believing obedient ones.

اٮه مں عٮادٮا المومٮٮں

And among their descendants is one who does good, and one who manifestly wrongs himself.

ومں درٮٮهما محسں وطالم لٮڡسه مٮٮں

And We indeed graced Moussa and Harun, and saved them and their people from the immense distress;

ولڡد مٮٮا على موسى وهروں وٮحٮٮهما وڡومهما مں الكرٮ العطٮم

and We helped them, and they were the victors.

وٮصرٮهم ڡكاٮوا هم العلٮٮں

And We gave them both the explicit Scripture,

واٮٮٮهما الكٮٮ المسٮٮٮں

and We guided them both along the straight path.

وهدٮٮهما الصرط المسٮڡٮم

And We left upon them both, among later generations:

وٮركٮا علٮهما ڡى الاحرٮں

"Peace upon Moussa and Harun!"

سلم على موسى وهروں

Thus do We recompense those who do good.

اٮا كدلك ٮحرى المحسٮٮں

They were both among Our believing obedient ones.

اٮهما مں عٮادٮا المومٮٮں

And Ilyas was surely among the envoys, when he said to his people: "Will you not guard yourselves? Do you call upon Ba'l, forsaking the most beautiful of creators?

واں الٮاس لمں المرسلٮں اد ڡال لڡومه الا ٮٮڡوں اٮدعوں ٮعلا وٮدروں احسں الحلڡٮں

God is your Guardian and the Guardian of your earliest forefathers."

الله رٮكم ورٮ اٮاٮكم الاولٮں

But they denied him; so they will surely be among those brought forth — except the refined obedient ones of God.

ڡكدٮوه ڡاٮهم لمحصروں الا عٮاد الله المحلصٮں

And We left upon him, among later generations:

وٮركٮا علٮه ڡى الاحرٮں

"Peace upon Ilyasin!"

سلم على ال ٮاسٮں

Thus do We recompense those who do good.

اٮا كدلك ٮحرى المحسٮٮں

He was among Our believing obedient ones.

اٮه مں عٮادٮا المومٮٮں

And Lut was surely among the envoys, when We saved him and his household, all of them, except an old woman among those who lingered behind; then We destroyed the others.

واں لوطا لمں المرسلٮں اد ٮحٮٮه واهله احمعٮں الا عحورا ڡى العٮرٮں ٮم دمرٮا الاحرٮں

will you not then reason?

اڡلا ٮعڡلوں

And Younes was surely among the envoys, when he fled to the laden vessel; he took part in the drawing of lots, and was among those who were dismissed; then the fish engulfed him while he was censurable.

واں ٮوٮس لمں المرسلٮں اد اٮٯ الى الڡلك المسحوں ڡساهم ڡكاں مں المدحصٮں ڡالٮڡمه الحوٮ وهو ملٮم

Had he not been among those who glorify, he would indeed have remained in its belly until the day they are raised.

ڡلولا اٮه كاں مں المسٮحٮں للٮٮ ڡى ٮطٮه الى ٮوم ٮٮعٮوں

So We cast him onto bare ground, while he was unwell,

ڡٮٮدٮه ٮالعرا وهو سڡٮم

and We caused a soft, cotton-like plant to grow over him.

واٮٮٮٮا علٮه سحره مں ٮڡطٮں

And We sent him to a hundred thousand, or more,

وارسلٮه الى ماٮه الڡ او ٮرٮدوں

and they believed; so We let them enjoy for a time.

ڡامٮوا ڡمٮعٮهم الى حٮں

So consult them: does your Guardian have daughters, while they have sons?

ڡاسٮڡٮهم الرٮك الٮٮاٮ ولهم الٮٮوں

Or did We create the Agents female, while they witnessed it?

ام حلڡٮا الملٮكه اٮٮا وهم سهدوں

Is it not so: it is surely out of their own distortion that they say: "God has begotten"; and they are surely liars.

الا اٮهم مں اڡكهم لٮڡولوں ولد الله واٮهم لكدٮوں

Would He have chosen daughters over sons?

اصطڡى الٮٮاٮ على الٮٮٮں

How do you judge?

كٮڡ ٮحكموں

Will you not then remember?

اڡلا ٮدكروں

Or do you have a manifest authority? Then bring your writing, if you are veracious.

ام لكم سلطں مٮٮں ڡاٮوا ٮكٮٮكم اں كٮٮم صدڡٮں

and the Occulted well know that they will surely be brought forth —

ولڡد علمٮ الحٮه اٮهم لمحصروں

glory be to God, above what they describe!

سٮحں الله عما ٮصڡوں

Except the refined obedient ones of God.

الا عٮاد الله المحلصٮں

Neither you, nor what you obey, can put anyone to trial against Him, except him who is destined to burn in the Blaze.

ڡاٮكم وما ٮعٮدوں ما اٮٮم علٮه ٮڡٮٮٮں الا مں هو صال الححٮم

"There is not one among us who does not have a known place,

وما مٮا الا له مڡام معلوم

and we are surely those who stand in ranks, and we are surely those who glorify."

واٮا لٮحں الصاڡوں واٮا لٮحں المسٮحوں

And they indeed used to say: "If only we had a reminder from the earlier peoples, we would have been the refined obedient ones of God."

واں كاٮوا لٮڡولوں لو اں عٮدٮا دكرا مں الاولٮں لكٮا عٮاد الله المحلصٮں

they will soon know.

ڡسوڡ ٮعلموں

And Our word has indeed preceded in favor of Our envoys, the obedient ones: they are indeed the ones who are helped, and it is surely Our army that is victorious.

ولڡد سٮڡٮ كلمٮٮا لعٮادٮا المرسلٮں اٮهم لهم المٮصوروں واں حٮدٮا لهم العلٮوں

So turn your back on them for a time,

ڡٮول عٮهم حٮى حٮں

and watch them: they will soon see clearly.

واٮصرهم ڡسوڡ ٮٮصروں

Is it then Our punishment that they seek to hasten?

اڡٮعداٮٮا ٮسٮعحلوں

When it descends into their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of those who were warned!

ڡادا ٮرل ٮساحٮهم ڡسا صٮاح المٮدرٮں

And turn your back on them for a time,

وٮول عٮهم حٮى حٮں

and watch: they will soon see clearly.

واٮصر ڡسوڡ ٮٮصروں

Glory be to your Guardian, the Guardian of might, above what they describe!

سٮحں رٮك رٮ العره عما ٮصڡوں

And peace upon the envoys!

وسلم على المرسلٮں

And praise be to God, Guardian of all beings!

والحمد لله رٮ العلمٮں
