Forme attestate : بِٱلسَّاحِلِ 1
Core meaning
The edge where water sets down what it carries: the shore.
Uses
ٱلسَّاحِل → "the shore" : the point where the deep gives back what it carries off.
- «فَلْيُلْقِهِ ٱلْيَمُّ بِٱلسَّاحِلِ» — "let the deep cast him onto the shore" (20:39)
Evidence from the text
A single word in the text. The verse places it at the end of the deep's motion: the child, placed in the chest and then cast into the deep, is cast out of it onto the shore, where "an enemy to Me and an enemy to him will take him" (20:39). The shore is the point where the deep gives back what it carries off.
