In the frieze By revelation he learns that the Occulted believed in a recitation, and that he stood up to invoke.
Read just before, 73 leads here: "Stand the night"; the next sura tells the command fulfilled: "when the obedient one of God stood up calling upon Him". 73
It leads to 71: He stood up to invoke and they crowded around him; in the next sura, Nuh calls night and day, and his people flee. 71

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Say, "It has been revealed to me that a group of the Occulted listened, and they said: We have heard an astonishing recitation, that guides to rectitude, so we have believed in it, and we will never associate anyone with our Guardian.
بِسْمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ قُلْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ اُ۪سْتَمَعَ نَفَرٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لْجِنِّ فَقَالُواْ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْءَاناً عَجَباٗ يَهْدِے إِلَى اَ۬لرُّشْدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَلَن نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَا أَحَداٗۖ
And exalted is the magnificence of our Guardian; He has not taken a consort nor a child.
وَإِنَّهُۥ تَعَٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا اَ۪تَّخَذَ صَٰحِبَةٗ وَلَا وَلَداٗۖ
And the foolish among us used to speak, against God, excessive words.
وَإِنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ شَطَطاٗۖ
And we presumed that mankind and the Occulted would never speak against God a lie.
وَإِنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن تَقُولَ اَ۬لْإِنسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ كَذِباٗۖ
And there were men among mankind who took refuge in men among the Occulted, and they only crushed them all the more.
وَإِنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٖ مِّنَ اَ۬لْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقاٗۖ
And they presumed, as you presumed, that God would never raise anyone up.
وَإِنَّهُمْ ظَنُّواْ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّنْ يَّبْعَثَ اَ۬للَّهُ أَحَداٗۖ
And we touched the sky and found it filled with severe sentinels and blazing projectiles.
وَإِنَّا لَمَسْنَا اَ۬لسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنَٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَساٗ شَدِيداٗ وَشُهُباٗۖ
And we used to sit there in stations for listening, but whoever listens now will find a blazing projectile lying in wait for him.
وَإِنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَٰعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ فَمَنْ يَّسْتَمِعِ اِ۬لْأٓنَ يَجِدْ لَهُۥ شِهَاباٗ رَّصَداٗۖ
And we have no idea whether ill is intended for those on earth, or whether their Guardian intends for them rectitude.
وَإِنَّا لَا نَدْرِے أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِے اِ۬لْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَداٗۖ
And among us are those who are sound, and among us those who are less so:
وَإِنَّا مِنَّا اَ۬لصَّٰلِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَۖ
we were divided into scattered courses of conduct.
كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَداٗۖ
And we presumed that we would never render God powerless upon earth, nor render Him powerless by fleeing.
وَإِنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن نُّعْجِزَ اَ۬للَّهَ فِے اِ۬لْأَرْضِ وَلَن نُّعْجِزَهُۥ هَرَباٗۖ
And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it,
وَإِنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا اَ۬لْهُدَىٰ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦۖ
and whoever believes in his Guardian will fear neither loss nor crushing.
فَمَنْ يُّؤْمِنۢ بِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْساٗ وَلَا رَهَقاٗۖ
And among us are those true to God alone, and among us are the deviant:
وَإِنَّا مِنَّا اَ۬لْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا اَ۬لْقَٰسِطُونَۖ
and whoever is true to God alone, those have sought rectitude,
فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوْاْ رَشَداٗۖ
but as for the deviant, they became firewood for Jahannam.
وَأَمَّا اَ۬لْقَٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُواْ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَباٗۖ
And that, if they had remained straight on the course of conduct, We would have given them plentiful water to drink, that We might try them thereby.
وَأَن لَّوِ اِ۪سْتَقَٰمُواْ عَلَى اَ۬لطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقاٗ لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِۖ
And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Guardian, We will insert him into an ever-mounting punishment.
وَمَنْ يُّعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِۦ نَسْلُكْهُ عَذَاباٗ صَعَداٗۖ
And that the places of prostration belong to God, so do not invoke anyone along with God.
وَأَنَّ اَ۬لْمَسَٰجِدَ لِلهِ فَلَا تَدْعُواْ مَعَ اَ۬للَّهِ أَحَداٗۖ
And that when the obedient one of God stood up calling upon Him, they almost crowded him in dense multitude."
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ اُ۬للَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُواْ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَداٗۖ
Say, "I only invoke my Guardian and I associate no one with Him."
قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَدْعُواْ رَبِّے وَلَا أُشْرِكُ بِهِۦ أَحَداٗۖ
Say, "I hold for you neither harm nor rectitude."
قُلْ إِنِّے لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرّاٗ وَلَا رَشَداٗۖ
Say, "No one can grant me asylum from God, and I will never find besides Him a recourse — except a transmission from God and His messages.
قُلْ إِنِّے لَنْ يُّجِيرَنِے مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ أَحَدٞ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مُلْتَحَداً إِلَّا بَلَٰغاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَرِسَٰلَٰتِهِۦۖ
And whoever disobeys God and His messenger, indeed, for him is the fire of Jahannam, abiding therein eternally, forever."
۞ وَمَنْ يَّعْصِ اِ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَداًۖ
Until, when they see that which they are promised, they will know who is weakest in helpers and fewest in number.
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا رَأَوْاْ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِراٗ وَأَقَلُّ عَدَداٗۖ
Say, "I have no idea whether what you are promised is near, or whether my Guardian will set for it a span."
قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِے أَقَرِيبٞ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّيَ أَمَداًۖ
Knower of what escapes the senses, and He uncovers none of it to anyone, except to a messenger He has approved of. He then makes lookouts go before him and behind him, so that He may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Guardian; and He encompasses whatever is with them and enumerates all things with exactness.
عَٰلِمُ اُ۬لْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِۦ أَحَداً إِلَّا مَنِ اِ۪رْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٖ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَسْلُكُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ رَصَداٗ لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُواْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَےْءٍ عَدَداَۢۖ
