Ash-Shura
One Single Law
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent.
Ḥa. Mim. ʿAyn. Sin. Qaf.
حمٓ عٓسٓقٓ
Thus God, the All-Powerful, the Wise, reveals to you — as He did to those before you.
كَذَٰلِكَ يُوحِىٓ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth,
لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ
and He is the Most High, the Immense.
وَهُوَ ٱلْعَلِىُّ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
The heavens are about to be rent asunder from above them,
تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِن فَوْقِهِنَّ
while the Agents glorify their Guardian with praise and ask forgiveness for whoever is on the earth.
وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ
Is it not so: God, it is indeed He who is the Most-Forgiving, the Benevolent.
أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And as for those who take allies besides Him, God is a preserver over them;
وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهُ حَفِيظٌ عَلَيْهِمْ
and you are not for them a trustee.
وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍۢ
Thus have We revealed to you a flawless Recitation, that you may warn the metropolis of cities and those around it, and warn of the Day of Reunion, about which there is no doubt:
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّۭا لِّتُنذِرَ أُمَّ ٱلْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَتُنذِرَ يَوْمَ ٱلْجَمْعِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ
a fraction in the Garden,
فَرِيقٌۭ فِى ٱلْجَنَّةِ
and a fraction in the Inferno.
وَفَرِيقٌۭ فِى ٱلسَّعِيرِ
And had God willed, He would have made them a single community,
وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ
but He admits whom He wills into His benevolence;
وَلَٰكِن يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ
and the wrongdoers have neither protector nor help.
وَٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ مَا لَهُم مِّن وَلِىٍّۢ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ
Or have they taken allies besides Him?
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ
Yet it is God who is the Protector,
فَٱللَّهُ هُوَ ٱلْوَلِىُّ
and it is He who brings the dead back to life;
وَهُوَ يُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ
and He is capable of all things.
وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌۭ
And whatever you differ about, its judgment rests with God.
وَمَا ٱخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيهِ مِن شَىْءٍۢ فَحُكْمُهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ
That is God, my Guardian;
ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبِّى
to Him I entrust myself,
عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ
and to Him I have recourse.
وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ
Originator of the heavens and the earth, He has made for you mates from among yourselves, and mates among the cattle; by this means He scatters you.
فَاطِرُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا وَمِنَ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ أَزْوَٰجًۭا يَذْرَؤُكُمْ فِيهِ
Nothing resembles Him,
لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِۦ شَىْءٌۭ
and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ
To Him belong the charges of the heavens and the earth;
لَهُۥ مَقَالِيدُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ
He extends provision to whom He wills, and measures it.
يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُ
He is All-Knowing of all things.
إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۭ
He has ordained for you, in the Law, what He enjoined upon Nuh, what We have revealed to you, and what We enjoined upon Ibrahim, Moussa, and Issa: "Uphold the Law, and do not become divided within it."
شَرَعَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا وَصَّىٰ بِهِۦ نُوحًۭا وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا وَصَّيْنَا بِهِۦٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُوا۟ فِيهِ
What you call them to weighs upon the associators.
كَبُرَ عَلَى ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ
God elects to Himself whom He wills, and guides to Himself whoever has recourse to Him.
ٱللَّهُ يَجْتَبِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يُنِيبُ
Yet they became divided only after knowledge had come to them,
وَمَا تَفَرَّقُوٓا۟ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعِلْمُ
out of iniquity among themselves.
بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ
And had it not been for a word that preceded from your Guardian until an appointed term, it would have been decided between them.
وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌۭ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭى لَّقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ
And those who inherited the Scripture after them are surely, about it, in a troubling doubt.
وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أُورِثُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لَفِى شَكٍّۢ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٍۢ
For this, then, call and stand straight as you have been commanded, and do not follow their emotions.
فَلِذَٰلِكَ فَٱدْعُ وَٱسْتَقِمْ كَمَآ أُمِرْتَ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ
And say: "I believe in whatever Scripture God has sent down, and I have been commanded to be just between you.
وَقُلْ ءَامَنتُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن كِتَٰبٍۢ وَأُمِرْتُ لِأَعْدِلَ بَيْنَكُمُ
God is our Guardian and your Guardian;
ٱللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمْ
to us our works, to you yours;
لَنَآ أَعْمَٰلُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ
there is no argument between us and you;
لَا حُجَّةَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ
God will bring us together,
ٱللَّهُ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَنَا
and to Him is the destination."
وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
And those who dispute about God after He has been answered, their argument is void before their Guardian, and upon them is anger,
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآجُّونَ فِى ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ٱسْتُجِيبَ لَهُۥ حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌۭ
and for them a severe punishment.
وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ شَدِيدٌ
It is God who has sent down the Scripture bearing truth, and the balance.
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ
And what gives you an idea?
وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ
Perhaps the Hour is near.
لَعَلَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٌۭ
Those who do not believe in it seek to hasten it,
يَسْتَعْجِلُ بِهَا ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهَا
while those who have believed are filled with apprehension of it and know that it is the truth.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مُشْفِقُونَ مِنْهَا وَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا ٱلْحَقُّ
Is it not so: those who wrangle about the Hour are surely in far error.
أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُمَارُونَ فِى ٱلسَّاعَةِ لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍۭ بَعِيدٍ
God is Subtle toward His obedient ones;
ٱللَّهُ لَطِيفٌۢ بِعِبَادِهِۦ
He provides for whom He wills,
يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَآءُ
and He is the Strong, the All-Powerful.
وَهُوَ ٱلْقَوِىُّ ٱلْعَزِيزُ
Whoever desires the tilth of the last life, We increase his tilth for him;
مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ نَزِدْ لَهُۥ فِى حَرْثِهِۦ
and whoever desires the tilth of the present life, We give him a portion of it,
وَمَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ ٱلدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِهِۦ مِنْهَا
but he will have no portion in the last life.
وَمَا لَهُۥ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ مِن نَّصِيبٍ
Or do they have associates who have ordained for them, in the Law, what God has not authorized?
أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَٰٓؤُا۟ شَرَعُوا۟ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَنۢ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ
And were it not for the word of the Separation, it would have been decided between them;
وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةُ ٱلْفَصْلِ لَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ
and the wrongdoers will indeed have a painful punishment.
وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ
You will see the wrongdoers apprehensive over what they have earned, while it is about to befall them;
تَرَى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا كَسَبُوا۟ وَهُوَ وَاقِعٌۢ بِهِمْ
while those who have believed and done sound deeds will be in the flowering meadows of the Gardens,
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فِى رَوْضَاتِ ٱلْجَنَّاتِ
they will have whatever they will, with their Guardian:
لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ
that is the great favor.
ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَضْلُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ
That is the good news God gives to His obedient ones who have believed and done sound deeds.
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يُبَشِّرُ ٱللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
Say: "I ask of you no reward for this, other than affection for one's close kin."
قُل لَّآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا ٱلْمَوَدَّةَ فِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
And whoever earns a good deed, We increase its beauty for him;
وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةًۭ نَّزِدْ لَهُۥ فِيهَا حُسْنًا
God is indeed Most-Forgiving, Most-Grateful.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ شَكُورٌ
Or will they say that he has invented a lie against God?
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًۭا
Yet if God willed, He would seal your core;
فَإِن يَشَإِ ٱللَّهُ يَخْتِمْ عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ
but God blots out falsehood and makes truth prevail by His words.
وَيَمْحُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْبَٰطِلَ وَيُحِقُّ ٱلْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦٓ
He is All-Knowing of what the chests contain.
إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
It is He who accepts repentance from His obedient ones, overlooks evil deeds, and knows what they do.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يَقْبَلُ ٱلتَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَنِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ
And He answers those who have believed and done sound deeds, and gives them more of His favor;
وَيَسْتَجِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ
while those who disown will have a severe punishment.
وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ شَدِيدٌۭ
And were God to extend provision to His obedient ones, they would commit iniquity on the earth;
وَلَوْ بَسَطَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِعِبَادِهِۦ لَبَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ
but He sends down in due measure what He wills.
وَلَٰكِن يُنَزِّلُ بِقَدَرٍۢ مَّا يَشَآءُ
He is, toward His obedient ones, Intimately Acquainted and All-Seeing.
إِنَّهُۥ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرٌۢ بَصِيرٌۭ
It is He who sends down the saving rain after they have lost heart, and who deploys His benevolence;
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُنَزِّلُ ٱلْغَيْثَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا قَنَطُوا۟ وَيَنشُرُ رَحْمَتَهُۥ
and He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.
وَهُوَ ٱلْوَلِىُّ ٱلْحَمِيدُ
And among His signs: the creation of the heavens and the earth, and whatever living beings He has spread throughout them;
وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ خَلْقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَثَّ فِيهِمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍۢ
and He is able to bring them together, whenever He wills.
وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ جَمْعِهِمْ إِذَا يَشَآءُ قَدِيرٌۭ
And whatever affliction strikes you is because of what your own hands have earned — and He overlooks much.
وَمَآ أَصَٰبَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٍۢ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَن كَثِيرٍۢ
You cannot render Him powerless on the earth,
وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ
and you have, besides God, neither protector nor help.
وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّۢ وَلَا نَصِيرٍۢ
And among His signs: those that run upon the sea like raised landmarks.
وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِ ٱلْجَوَارِ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَٰمِ
If He wills, He stills the wind, and they stay becalmed upon its surface — surely in that are signs for every very patient, very grateful one — or He delivers them to disaster because of what they have earned, while overlooking much,
إِن يَشَأْ يُسْكِنِ ٱلرِّيحَ فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِهِۦٓ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍۢ شَكُورٍ أَوْ يُوبِقْهُنَّ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ وَيَعْفُ عَن كَثِيرٍۢ
— and so that those who argue about Our signs may know that they have no escape.
وَيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا مَا لَهُم مِّن مَّحِيصٍۢ
Whatever you have been given is only the enjoyment of the present life;
فَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَىْءٍۢ فَمَتَٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا
but what is with God is better and more lasting, for those who believe and entrust themselves to their Guardian;
وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌۭ وَأَبْقَىٰ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
and for those who avoid major transgressions and indecencies, and who, when angered, forgive;
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُوا۟ هُمْ يَغْفِرُونَ
and for those who answer their Guardian, maintain the Contact, conduct their affairs by conferring among themselves, and spend from what We have provided them;
وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَىٰ بَيْنَهُمْ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ
and for those who, when iniquity strikes them, help themselves.
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَصَابَهُمُ ٱلْبَغْىُ هُمْ يَنتَصِرُونَ
And the recompense of an evil is an evil equal to it;
وَجَزَٰٓؤُا۟ سَيِّئَةٍۢ سَيِّئَةٌۭ مِّثْلُهَا
but whoever overlooks and reconciles, his reward is upon God —
فَمَنْ عَفَا وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَجْرُهُۥ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ
He does not love the wrongdoers.
إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
And whoever helps himself after having been wronged, no way against such.
وَلَمَنِ ٱنتَصَرَ بَعْدَ ظُلْمِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَا عَلَيْهِم مِّن سَبِيلٍ
The way is open only against those who wrong men and commit iniquity on the earth without right.
إِنَّمَا ٱلسَّبِيلُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَظْلِمُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ وَيَبْغُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ
Those are the ones who will have a painful punishment.
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ
And whoever is patient and forgives, that is surely among the matters requiring resolve.
وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ ٱلْأُمُورِ
And whoever God leads astray has no protector after that.
وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن وَلِىٍّۢ مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ
And you will see the wrongdoers, when they see the punishment, saying: "Is there any way to be brought back?"
وَتَرَى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ يَقُولُونَ هَلْ إِلَىٰ مَرَدٍّۢ مِّن سَبِيلٍۢ
And you will see them exposed before it, humble,
وَتَرَىٰهُمْ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا خَٰشِعِينَ
looking with a furtive glance, out of humiliation.
مِنَ ٱلذُّلِّ يَنظُرُونَ مِن طَرْفٍ خَفِىٍّۢ
And those who have believed will say: "The losers are indeed those who have caused the loss of their Selves and of their families on the Day of Appearance."
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
Is it not so: the wrongdoers are in lasting punishment.
أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ فِى عَذَابٍۢ مُّقِيمٍۢ
They will have no allies to help them, besides God.
وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنْ أَوْلِيَآءَ يَنصُرُونَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ
And whoever God leads astray has no way at all.
وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن سَبِيلٍ
Answer your Guardian before there comes, from God, a day that cannot be turned back;
ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌۭ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ
you will have no sanctuary on that Day,
مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلْجَإٍۢ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
and you will have no way to disavow.
وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِيرٍۢ
If they turn away, We have not sent you as a preserver over them;
فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا۟ فَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا
only the transmission is incumbent upon you.
إِنْ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ
And when We let the human being taste a benevolence from Us, he rejoices in it;
وَإِنَّآ إِذَآ أَذَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةًۭ فَرِحَ بِهَا
but if an evil strikes them because of what their hands have prepared, then the human being is indeed greatly given to disowning.
وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَإِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ كَفُورٌۭ
To God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth;
لِّلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ
He creates what He wills;
يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ
He bestows, on whom He wills, daughters, and He bestows, on whom He wills, sons, or He pairs them, males and females, and He renders barren whom He wills.
يَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ إِنَٰثًۭا وَيَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ٱلذُّكُورَ أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًۭا وَإِنَٰثًۭا وَيَجْعَلُ مَن يَشَآءُ عَقِيمًا
He is All-Knowing, Capable.
إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۭ قَدِيرٌۭ
It is not for any human that God should speak to him, except by revelation, or from behind a veil, or by sending a messenger who reveals, with His permission, what He wills;
وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُكَلِّمَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا وَحْيًا أَوْ مِن وَرَآئِ حِجَابٍ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ رَسُولًۭا فَيُوحِىَ بِإِذْنِهِۦ مَا يَشَآءُ
He is indeed the Most High, the Wise.
إِنَّهُۥ عَلِىٌّ حَكِيمٌۭ
Thus have We revealed to you an Influx emanating from Our command;
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ رُوحًۭا مِّنْ أَمْرِنَا
you had no idea what the Scripture was, nor faith, but We made it a light by which We guide whom We will among Our obedient ones;
مَا كُنتَ تَدْرِى مَا ٱلْكِتَٰبُ وَلَا ٱلْإِيمَٰنُ وَلَٰكِن جَعَلْنَٰهُ نُورًۭا نَّهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن نَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا
and you surely guide to a straight path — the path of God, to whom belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth.
وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِىٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ صِرَٰطِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ
Is it not so: to God all affairs make their way.
أَلَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ تَصِيرُ ٱلْأُمُورُ
