Ash-Shura
One Single Law
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Ḥa. Mim. ʿAyn. Sin. Qaf.
ٮسم الله الرحمں الرحٮم حم عسٯ
Thus God, the All-Powerful, the Wise, reveals to you — as He did to those before you.
كدلك ٮوحى الٮك والى الدٮں مں ڡٮلك الله العرٮر الحكٮم
To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth,
له ما ڡى السموٮ وما ڡى الارص
and He is the Most High, the Immense.
وهو العلى العطٮم
The heavens are about to be rent asunder from above them,
ٮكاد السموٮ ٮٮڡطرں مں ڡوڡهں
while the Agents glorify their Guardian with praise and ask forgiveness for whoever is on the earth.
والملٮكه ٮسٮحوں ٮحمد رٮهم وٮسٮعڡروں لمں ڡى الارص
Is it not so: God, it is indeed He who is the Most-Forgiving, the Benevolent.
الا اں الله هو العڡور الرحٮم
And as for those who take allies besides Him, God is a preserver over them;
والدٮں اٮحدوا مں دوٮه اولٮا الله حڡٮط علٮهم
and you are not for them a trustee.
وما اٮٮ علٮهم ٮوكٮل
Thus have We revealed to you a flawless Recitation, that you may warn the metropolis of cities and those around it, and warn of the Day of Reunion, about which there is no doubt:
وكدلك اوحٮٮا الٮك ڡراٮا عرٮٮا لٮٮدر ام الڡرى ومں حولها وٮٮدر ٮوم الحمع لا رٮٮ ڡٮه
a fraction in the Garden,
ڡرٮٯ ڡى الحٮه
and a fraction in the Inferno.
وڡرٮٯ ڡى السعٮر
And had God willed, He would have made them a single community,
ولو سا الله لحعلهم امه وحده
but He admits whom He wills into His benevolence;
ولكں ٮدحل مں ٮسا ڡى رحمٮه
and the wrongdoers have neither protector nor help.
والطلموں ما لهم مں ولى ولا ٮصٮر
Or have they taken allies besides Him?
ام اٮحدوا مں دوٮه اولٮا
Yet it is God who is the Protector,
ڡالله هو الولى
and it is He who brings the dead back to life;
وهو ٮحى الموٮى
and He is capable of all things.
وهو على كل سى ڡدٮر
And whatever you differ about, its judgment rests with God.
وما احٮلڡٮم ڡٮه مں سى ڡحكمه الى الله
That is God, my Guardian;
دلكم الله رٮى
to Him I entrust myself,
علٮه ٮوكلٮ
and to Him I have recourse.
والٮه اٮٮٮ
Originator of the heavens and the earth, He has made for you mates from among yourselves, and mates among the cattle; by this means He scatters you.
ڡاطر السموٮ والارص حعل لكم مں اٮڡسكم اروحا ومں الاٮعم اروحا ٮدروكم ڡٮه
Nothing resembles Him,
لٮس كمٮله سى
and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
وهو السمٮع الٮصٮر
To Him belong the charges of the heavens and the earth;
له مڡالٮد السموٮ والارص
He extends provision to whom He wills, and measures it.
ٮٮسط الررٯ لمں ٮسا وٮڡدر
He is All-Knowing of all things.
اٮه ٮكل سى علٮم
He has ordained for you, in the Law, what He enjoined upon Nuh, what We have revealed to you, and what We enjoined upon Ibrahim, Moussa, and Issa: "Uphold the Law, and do not become divided within it."
سرع لكم مں الدٮں ما وصى ٮه ٮوحا والدى اوحٮٮا الٮك وما وصٮٮا ٮه اٮرهٮم وموسى وعٮسى اں اڡٮموا الدٮں ولا ٮٮڡرڡوا ڡٮه
What you call them to weighs upon the associators.
كٮر على المسركٮں ما ٮدعوهم الٮه
God elects to Himself whom He wills, and guides to Himself whoever has recourse to Him.
الله ٮحٮٮى الٮه مں ٮسا وٮهدى الٮه مں ٮٮٮٮ
Yet they became divided only after knowledge had come to them,
وما ٮڡرڡوا الا مں ٮعد ما حاهم العلم
out of iniquity among themselves.
ٮعٮا ٮٮٮهم
And had it not been for a word that preceded from your Guardian until an appointed term, it would have been decided between them.
ولولا كلمه سٮڡٮ مں رٮك الى احل مسمى لڡصى ٮٮٮهم
And those who inherited the Scripture after them are surely, about it, in a troubling doubt.
واں الدٮں اورٮوا الكٮٮ مں ٮعدهم لڡى سك مٮه مرٮٮ
For this, then, call and stand straight as you have been commanded, and do not follow their emotions.
ڡلدلك ڡادع واسٮڡم كما امرٮ ولا ٮٮٮع اهواهم
And say: "I believe in whatever Scripture God has sent down, and I have been commanded to be just between you.
وڡل امٮٮ ٮما اٮرل الله مں كٮٮ وامرٮ لاعدل ٮٮٮكم
God is our Guardian and your Guardian;
الله رٮٮا ورٮكم
to us our works, to you yours;
لٮا اعملٮا ولكم اعملكم
there is no argument between us and you;
لا ححه ٮٮٮٮا وٮٮٮكم
God will bring us together,
الله ٮحمع ٮٮٮٮا
and to Him is the destination."
والٮه المصٮر
And those who dispute about God after He has been answered, their argument is void before their Guardian, and upon them is anger,
والدٮں ٮحاحوں ڡى الله مں ٮعد ما اسٮحٮٮ له ححٮهم داحصه عٮد رٮهم وعلٮهم عصٮ
and for them a severe punishment.
ولهم عداٮ سدٮد
It is God who has sent down the Scripture bearing truth, and the balance.
الله الدى اٮرل الكٮٮ ٮالحٯ والمٮراں
And what gives you an idea?
وما ٮدرٮك
Perhaps the Hour is near.
لعل الساعه ڡرٮٮ
Those who do not believe in it seek to hasten it,
ٮسٮعحل ٮها الدٮں لا ٮومٮوں ٮها
while those who have believed are filled with apprehension of it and know that it is the truth.
والدٮں امٮوا مسڡڡوں مٮها وٮعلموں اٮها الحٯ
Is it not so: those who wrangle about the Hour are surely in far error.
الا اں الدٮں ٮماروں ڡى الساعه لڡى صلل ٮعٮد
God is Subtle toward His obedient ones;
الله لطٮڡ ٮعٮاده
He provides for whom He wills,
ٮررٯ مں ٮسا
and He is the Strong, the All-Powerful.
وهو الڡوى العرٮر
Whoever desires the tilth of the last life, We increase his tilth for him;
مں كاں ٮرٮد حرٮ الاحره ٮرد له ڡى حرٮه
and whoever desires the tilth of the present life, We give him a portion of it,
ومں كاں ٮرٮد حرٮ الدٮٮا ٮوٮه مٮها
but he will have no portion in the last life.
وما له ڡى الاحره مں ٮصٮٮ
Or do they have associates who have ordained for them, in the Law, what God has not authorized?
ام لهم سركوا سرعوا لهم مں الدٮں ما لم ٮادں ٮه الله
And were it not for the word of the Separation, it would have been decided between them;
ولولا كلمه الڡصل لڡصى ٮٮٮهم
and the wrongdoers will indeed have a painful punishment.
واں الطلمٮں لهم عداٮ الٮم
You will see the wrongdoers apprehensive over what they have earned, while it is about to befall them;
ٮرى الطلمٮں مسڡڡٮں مما كسٮوا وهو واڡع ٮهم
while those who have believed and done sound deeds will be in the flowering meadows of the Gardens,
والدٮں امٮوا وعملوا الصلحٮ ڡى روصاٮ الحٮاٮ
they will have whatever they will, with their Guardian:
لهم ما ٮساوں عٮد رٮهم
that is the great favor.
دلك هو الڡصل الكٮٮر
That is the good news God gives to His obedient ones who have believed and done sound deeds.
دلك الدى ٮٮسر الله عٮاده الدٮں امٮوا وعملوا الصلحٮ
Say: "I ask of you no reward for this, other than affection for one's close kin."
ڡل لا اسلكم علٮه احرا الا الموده ڡى الڡرٮى
And whoever earns a good deed, We increase its beauty for him;
ومں ٮڡٮرڡ حسٮه ٮرد له ڡٮها حسٮا
God is indeed Most-Forgiving, Most-Grateful.
اں الله عڡور سكور
Or will they say that he has invented a lie against God?
ام ٮڡولوں اڡٮرى على الله كدٮا
Yet if God willed, He would seal your core;
ڡاں ٮسا الله ٮحٮم على ڡلٮك
but God blots out falsehood and makes truth prevail by His words.
وٮمح الله الٮطل وٮحٯ الحٯ ٮكلمٮه
He is All-Knowing of what the chests contain.
اٮه علٮم ٮداٮ الصدور
It is He who accepts repentance from His obedient ones, overlooks evil deeds, and knows what they do.
وهو الدى ٮڡٮل الٮوٮه عں عٮاده وٮعڡوا عں السٮاٮ وٮعلم ما ٮڡعلوں
And He answers those who have believed and done sound deeds, and gives them more of His favor;
وٮسٮحٮٮ الدٮں امٮوا وعملوا الصلحٮ وٮرٮدهم مں ڡصله
while those who disown will have a severe punishment.
والكڡروں لهم عداٮ سدٮد
And were God to extend provision to His obedient ones, they would commit iniquity on the earth;
ولو ٮسط الله الررٯ لعٮاده لٮعوا ڡى الارص
but He sends down in due measure what He wills.
ولكں ٮٮرل ٮڡدر ما ٮسا
He is, toward His obedient ones, Intimately Acquainted and All-Seeing.
اٮه ٮعٮاده حٮٮر ٮصٮر
It is He who sends down the saving rain after they have lost heart, and who deploys His benevolence;
وهو الدى ٮٮرل العٮٮ مں ٮعد ما ڡٮطوا وٮٮسر رحمٮه
and He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.
وهو الولى الحمٮد
And among His signs: the creation of the heavens and the earth, and whatever living beings He has spread throughout them;
ومں اٮٮه حلٯ السموٮ والارص وما ٮٮ ڡٮهما مں داٮه
and He is able to bring them together, whenever He wills.
وهو على حمعهم ادا ٮسا ڡدٮر
And whatever affliction strikes you is because of what your own hands have earned — and He overlooks much.
وما اصٮكم مں مصٮٮه ڡٮما كسٮٮ اٮدٮكم وٮعڡوا عں كٮٮر
You cannot render Him powerless on the earth,
وما اٮٮم ٮمعحرٮں ڡى الارص
and you have, besides God, neither protector nor help.
وما لكم مں دوں الله مں ولى ولا ٮصٮر
And among His signs: those that run upon the sea like raised landmarks.
ومں اٮٮه الحوار ڡى الٮحر كالاعلم
If He wills, He stills the wind, and they stay becalmed upon its surface — surely in that are signs for every very patient, very grateful one — or He delivers them to disaster because of what they have earned, while overlooking much,
اں ٮسا ٮسكں الرٮح ڡٮطللں رواكد على طهره اں ڡى دلك لاٮٮ لكل صٮار سكور او ٮوٮڡهں ٮما كسٮوا وٮعڡ عں كٮٮر
— and so that those who argue about Our signs may know that they have no escape.
وٮعلم الدٮں ٮحدلوں ڡى اٮٮٮا ما لهم مں محٮص
Whatever you have been given is only the enjoyment of the present life;
ڡما اوٮٮٮم مں سى ڡمٮع الحٮوه الدٮٮا
but what is with God is better and more lasting, for those who believe and entrust themselves to their Guardian;
وما عٮد الله حٮر واٮڡى للدٮں امٮوا وعلى رٮهم ٮٮوكلوں
and for those who avoid grave transgressions and indecencies, and who, when angered, forgive;
والدٮں ٮحٮٮٮوں كٮٮر الاٮم والڡوحس وادا ما عصٮوا هم ٮعڡروں
and for those who answer their Guardian, maintain the Contact, conduct their affairs by conferring among themselves, and spend from what We have provided them;
والدٮں اسٮحاٮوا لرٮهم واڡاموا الصلوه وامرهم سورى ٮٮٮهم ومما ررڡٮهم ٮٮڡڡوں
and for those who, when iniquity strikes them, help themselves.
والدٮں ادا اصاٮهم الٮعى هم ٮٮٮصروں
And the recompense of an evil is an evil equal to it;
وحروا سٮٮه سٮٮه مٮلها
but whoever overlooks and reconciles, his reward is upon God —
ڡمں عڡا واصلح ڡاحره على الله
He does not love the wrongdoers.
اٮه لا ٮحٮ الطلمٮں
And whoever helps himself after having been wronged, no way against such.
ولمں اٮٮصر ٮعد طلمه ڡاولٮك ما علٮهم مں سٮٮل
The way is open only against those who wrong men and commit iniquity on the earth without right.
اٮما السٮٮل على الدٮں ٮطلموں الٮاس وٮٮعوں ڡى الارص ٮعٮر الحٯ
Those are the ones who will have a painful punishment.
اولٮك لهم عداٮ الٮم
And whoever is patient and forgives, that is surely among the matters requiring resolve.
ولمں صٮر وعڡر اں دلك لمں عرم الامور
And whoever God leads astray has no protector after that.
ومں ٮصلل الله ڡما له مں ولى مں ٮعده
And you will see the wrongdoers, when they see the punishment, saying: "Is there any way to be brought back?"
وٮرى الطلمٮں لما راوا العداٮ ٮڡولوں هل الى مرد مں سٮٮل
And you will see them exposed before it, humble,
وٮرٮهم ٮعرصوں علٮها حسعٮں
looking with a furtive glance, out of humiliation.
مں الدل ٮٮطروں مں طرڡ حڡى
And those who have believed will say: "The losers are indeed those who have caused the loss of their Selves and of their families on the Day of Appearance."
وڡال الدٮں امٮوا اں الحسرٮں الدٮں حسروا اٮڡسهم واهلٮهم ٮوم الڡٮمه
Is it not so: the wrongdoers are in lasting punishment.
الا اں الطلمٮں ڡى عداٮ مڡٮم
They will have no allies to help them, besides God.
وما كاں لهم مں اولٮا ٮٮصروٮهم مں دوں الله
And whoever God leads astray has no way at all.
ومں ٮصلل الله ڡما له مں سٮٮل
Answer your Guardian before there comes, from God, a day that cannot be turned back;
اسٮحٮٮوا لرٮكم مں ڡٮل اں ٮاٮى ٮوم لا مرد له مں الله
you will have no sanctuary on that Day,
ما لكم مں ملحا ٮومٮد
and you will have no way to disavow.
وما لكم مں ٮكٮر
If they turn away, We have not sent you as a preserver over them;
ڡاں اعرصوا ڡما ارسلٮك علٮهم حڡٮطا
only the transmission is incumbent upon you.
اں علٮك الا الٮلع
And when We let the human being taste a benevolence from Us, he rejoices in it;
واٮا ادا ادڡٮا الاٮسں مٮا رحمه ڡرح ٮها
but if an evil strikes them because of what their hands have prepared, then the human being is indeed greatly given to disowning.
واں ٮصٮهم سٮٮه ٮما ڡدمٮ اٮدٮهم ڡاں الاٮسں كڡور
To God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth;
لله ملك السموٮ والارص
He creates what He wills;
ٮحلٯ ما ٮسا
He bestows, on whom He wills, daughters, and He bestows, on whom He wills, sons, or He pairs them, males and females, and He renders barren whom He wills.
ٮهٮ لمں ٮسا اٮٮا وٮهٮ لمں ٮسا الدكور او ٮروحهم دكراٮا واٮٮا وٮحعل مں ٮسا عڡٮما
He is All-Knowing, Capable.
اٮه علٮم ڡدٮر
It is not for any human that God should speak to him, except by revelation, or from behind a veil, or by sending a messenger who reveals, by His leave, what He wills;
وما كاں لٮسر اں ٮكلمه الله الا وحٮا او مں وراى ححاٮ او ٮرسل رسولا ڡٮوحى ٮادٮه ما ٮسا
He is indeed the Most High, the Wise.
اٮه على حكٮم
Thus have We revealed to you an Influx emanating from Our command;
وكدلك اوحٮٮا الٮك روحا مں امرٮا
you had no idea what the Scripture was, nor faith, but We made it a light by which We guide whom We will among Our obedient ones;
ما كٮٮ ٮدرى ما الكٮٮ ولا الاٮمں ولكں حعلٮه ٮورا ٮهدى ٮه مں ٮسا مں عٮادٮا
and you surely guide to a straight path — the path of God, to whom belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth.
واٮك لٮهدى الى صرط مسٮڡٮم صرط الله الدى له ما ڡى السموٮ وما ڡى الارص
Is it not so: to God all affairs make their way.
الا الى الله ٮصٮر الامور
