As-Sajda
The Prostration
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent.
Alif. Lam. Mim.
الٓمٓ
The descent of the Scripture — no doubt possible — is from the Guardian of all beings.
تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Or will they say: "He has invented it"?
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ
It is rather the truth from your Guardian, that you may warn a people to whom no warner had come before you, in the hope that they will let themselves be guided.
بَلْ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًۭا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
God is He who created the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, in six days, then established Himself upon the Edifice;
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِى سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍۢ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ
you have, besides Him, neither protector nor intercessor.
مَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَلِىٍّۢ وَلَا شَفِيعٍ
Will you not then remember?
أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ
He governs the Order from the sky to the earth, then it ascends to Him in a day whose measure is a thousand years of those you number.
يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍۢ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥٓ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍۢ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ
That is the Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is witnessed, the All-Powerful, the Benevolent,
ذَٰلِكَ عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
who made excellent everything He created, and began the creation of the human being from clay,
ٱلَّذِىٓ أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ وَبَدَأَ خَلْقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنِ مِن طِينٍۢ
then made his progeny from an extract of a despised water,
ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسْلَهُۥ مِن سُلَٰلَةٍۢ مِّن مَّآءٍۢ مَّهِينٍۢ
then proportioned him, and breathed into him of His Influx,
ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦ
and He appointed for you hearing, sight, and Consciences —
وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ
how little you are grateful!
قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ
And they said, "When we have strayed in the earth, will we truly be in a new creation?"
وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا ضَلَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ إِنَّا لَفِى خَلْقٍۢ جَدِيدٍۭ
They rather disown the meeting with their Guardian.
بَلْ هُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ كَٰفِرُونَ
Say, "The Agent of death, who has been charged with you, will keep you faithfully; then to your Guardian you will be returned."
قُلْ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم مَّلَكُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ٱلَّذِى وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ
And if you could see when the severed are heads bowed before their Guardian: "Our Guardian, we have seen clearly and heard, so return us; we will do sound deeds — we are now indeed certain."
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذِ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ نَاكِسُوا۟ رُءُوسِهِمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ رَبَّنَآ أَبْصَرْنَا وَسَمِعْنَا فَٱرْجِعْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَٰلِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ
And had We willed, We would have given every Self its guidance;
وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَءَاتَيْنَا كُلَّ نَفْسٍ هُدَىٰهَا
but My saying has proven true: "I will surely fill Jahannam with the Occulted and mankind, all together."
وَلَٰكِنْ حَقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ مِنِّى لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ
So taste, for having forgotten the meeting of this Day of yours — We have indeed forgotten you —
فَذُوقُوا۟ بِمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَٰذَآ إِنَّا نَسِينَٰكُمْ
and taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do.
وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلْخُلْدِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Only those believe in Our signs who, when they are reminded of them, fall down in prostration and glorify their Guardian with praise, and do not grow proud.
إِنَّمَا يُؤْمِنُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهَا خَرُّوا۟ سُجَّدًۭا وَسَبَّحُوا۟ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Their sides draw away from their beds, calling upon their Guardian in fear and hope, and they spend out of what We have provided them.
تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفًۭا وَطَمَعًۭا وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ
And no Self knows what has been hidden for it of a rest of the gaze, as recompense for what they used to do.
فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌۭ مَّآ أُخْفِىَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٍۢ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
Is he who is a believer like him who is an overstepper?
أَفَمَن كَانَ مُؤْمِنًۭا كَمَن كَانَ فَاسِقًۭا
They are not equal.
لَّا يَسْتَوُۥنَ
As for those who believed and did sound deeds, they have the gardens of refuge, as a welcome, for what they used to do;
أَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمْ جَنَّٰتُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ نُزُلًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
and as for those who overstepped the limits, their refuge is the Fire:
وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُوا۟ فَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ
every time they wish to come out of it, they will be returned to it, and it will be said to them, "Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny."
كُلَّمَآ أَرَادُوٓا۟ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَآ أُعِيدُوا۟ فِيهَا وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
And We will surely make them taste of the nearer punishment, short of the greater punishment, perhaps they will return.
وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَدْنَىٰ دُونَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَكْبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
And who does more wrong than he who is reminded of the signs of his Guardian, and then turns away from them?
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ ثُمَّ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهَآ
We will indeed take vengeance upon the severed.
إِنَّا مِنَ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ مُنتَقِمُونَ
And We certainly gave Moussa the Scripture —
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
so do not be in contention about his meeting —
فَلَا تَكُن فِى مِرْيَةٍۢ مِّن لِّقَآئِهِۦ
and We made it a guidance for the Sons of Israel.
وَجَعَلْنَٰهُ هُدًۭى لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
And We appointed among them leaders guiding by Our command, when they had been patient,
وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا۟
and had certainty in Our signs.
وَكَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ
Your Guardian is He who will separate between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning that in which they differed.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
Are they not guided by how many generations We annihilated before them, in whose dwellings they walk?
أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِى مَسَٰكِنِهِمْ
There are surely in that signs.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ
Do they not then hear?
أَفَلَا يَسْمَعُونَ
Have they not seen that We drive the water to the arid land, and thereby bring forth crops from which their cattle and they themselves eat?
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا نَسُوقُ ٱلْمَآءَ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْجُرُزِ فَنُخْرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرْعًۭا تَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ أَنْعَٰمُهُمْ وَأَنفُسُهُمْ
Do they not then see clearly?
أَفَلَا يُبْصِرُونَ
And they say, "When is this opening, if you are veracious?"
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلْفَتْحُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
Say, "On the day of the opening, faith will no longer benefit those who disowned, nor will they be given respite."
قُلْ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَتْحِ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ
So turn away from them, and wait:
فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَٱنتَظِرْ
they are indeed waiting.
إِنَّهُم مُّنتَظِرُونَ
