Al-Jinn

Say, "It has been revealed to me that a group of the Occulted listened, and they said: We have heard an astonishing recitation, that guides to rectitude, so we have believed in it, and we will never associate anyone with our Guardian.

قُلْ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ أَنَّهُ ٱسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْءَانًا عَجَبًۭا يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلرُّشْدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَلَن نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدًۭا

And exalted is the magnificence of our Guardian; He has not taken a consort nor a child.

وَإِنَّهُۥ تَعَٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا ٱتَّخَذَ صَٰحِبَةًۭ وَلَا وَلَدًۭا

And the foolish among us used to speak, against God, excessive words.

وَإِنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ شَطَطًۭا

And we presumed that mankind and the Occulted would never speak against God a lie.

وَإِنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن تَقُولَ ٱلْإِنسُ وَٱلْجِنُّ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًۭا

And there were men among mankind who took refuge in men among the Occulted, and they only crushed them all the more.

وَإِنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًۭا

And they presumed, as you presumed, that God would never raise anyone up.

وَإِنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوا۟ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدًۭا

And we touched the sky and found it filled with severe sentinels and blazing projectiles.

وَإِنَّا لَمَسْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنَٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًۭا شَدِيدًۭا وَشُهُبًۭا

And we used to sit in stations for listening, but whoever listens now will find a blazing projectile lying in wait for him.

وَإِنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَٰعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ فَمَن يَسْتَمِعِ ٱلْءَانَ يَجِدْ لَهُۥ شِهَابًۭا رَّصَدًۭا

And we have no idea whether ill is intended for those on earth, or whether their Guardian intends for them rectitude.

وَإِنَّا لَا نَدْرِىٓ أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًۭا

we were divided into scattered courses of conduct.

كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَدًۭا

And we presumed that we would never render God powerless upon earth, nor render Him powerless by fleeing.

وَإِنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن نُّعْجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَن نُّعْجِزَهُۥ هَرَبًۭا

and whoever believes in his Guardian will fear neither loss nor crushing.

فَمَن يُؤْمِنۢ بِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسًۭا وَلَا رَهَقًۭا

and whoever is true to God alone, those have sought rectitude,

فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا۟ رَشَدًۭا

but as for the deviant, they became firewood for Jahannam.

وَأَمَّا ٱلْقَٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُوا۟ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًۭا

And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Guardian, He will insert him into an ever-mounting punishment.

وَمَن يُعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِۦ نَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًۭا صَعَدًۭا

And that the places of prostration belong to God, so do not invoke anyone along with God.

وَأَنَّ ٱلْمَسَٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدًۭا

And that when the obedient one of God stood up calling upon Him, they almost crowded him in dense multitude."

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًۭا

Say, "I only invoke my Guardian and I associate no one with Him."

قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى وَلَآ أُشْرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدًۭا

Say, "I hold for you neither harm nor rectitude."

قُلْ إِنِّى لَآ أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّۭا وَلَا رَشَدًۭا

And whoever disobeys God and His messenger, indeed, for him is the fire of Jahannam, abiding therein eternally, forever.

وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا

Until, when they see that which they are promised, they will know who is weakest in helpers and fewest in number.

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِرًۭا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدًۭا

Say, "I have no idea whether what you are promised is near, or whether my Guardian will set for it a span."

قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌۭ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّىٓ أَمَدًا

Knower of what escapes the senses, and He makes none of it appear to anyone, except a messenger He has approved of. He then makes lookouts go before him and behind him, so that He may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Guardian; and He encompasses whatever is with them and enumerates all things with exactness.

عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا إِلَّا مَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٍۢ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَسْلُكُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ رَصَدًۭا لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُوا۟ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عَدَدًۢا
