Al-Mu'minun
Have Attained Success
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent.
The believers have attained success,
قد افلح المومنون
those who, in their Contact, are humble,
الذين هم في صلاتهم خشعون
and those who turn away from idle talk,
والذين هم عن اللغو معرضون
and those who give pure liberality,
والذين هم للزكوه فعلون
and those who preserve their private parts, except with their spouses or those bound by oath — for then they are not censurable;
والذين هم لفروجهم حفظون الا علي ازوجهم او ما ملكت ايمنهم فانهم غير ملومين
but whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the ones who cross the limits.
فمن ابتغي ورا ذلك فاوليك هم العادون
and those who are watchful over their trusts and their pact,
والذين هم لامنتهم وعهدهم رعون
And those who carefully preserve their Contacts — those are the inheritors, who will inherit the Firdaws,
والذين هم علي صلوتهم يحافظون اوليك هم الورثون الذين يرثون الفردوس
abiding therein eternally.
هم فيها خلدون
We created the human being from an extract of clay,
ولقد خلقنا الانسن من سلله من طين
then We made him a drop in a secure and stable place,
ثم جعلنه نطفه في قرار مكين
then We created from the drop a clinging form, then We created from the clinging form a lump, then We created from the lump bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, then We brought it into being as another creation.
ثم خلقنا النطفه علقه فخلقنا العلقه مضغه فخلقنا المضغه عظما فكسونا العظم لحما ثم انشانه خلقا اخر
Blessed is God, the best of creators!
فتبارك الله احسن الخلقين
Then, after that, you are surely destined to die,
ثم انكم بعد ذلك لميتون
then, on the Day of Appearance, you will indeed be raised.
ثم انكم يوم القيمه تبعثون
We created above you seven roads,
ولقد خلقنا فوقكم سبع طرايق
and We have never been heedless of creation.
وما كنا عن الخلق غفلين
We sent down from the sky water in due measure, and We made it dwell in the earth —
وانزلنا من السما ما بقدر فاسكنه في الارض
and We are surely able to make it disappear.
وانا علي ذهاب به لقدرون
We thus brought into being for you, through it, gardens of palms and vines, wherein you have abundant savoury fruits and from which you eat, and a tree that comes out of Mount Sinai, which grows with oil and a condiment for those who eat.
فانشانا لكم به جنت من نخيل واعنب لكم فيها فوكه كثيره ومنها تاكلون وشجره تخرج من طور سينا تنبت بالدهن وصبغ للاكلين
And there is surely, for you, a lesson in the cattle:
وان لكم في الانعم لعبره
We give you drink from what is in their bellies,
نسقيكم مما في بطونها
and you have in them many benefits, and you eat from them, and upon them as well as upon vessels you are carried.
ولكم فيها منفع كثيره ومنها تاكلون وعليها وعلي الفلك تحملون
We indeed sent Nuh to his people, and he said: "O my people, obey God, you have no other deity than Him.
ولقد ارسلنا نوحا الي قومه فقال يقوم اعبدوا الله ما لكم من اله غيره
Will you not then guard yourselves?"
افلا تتقون
The court of his people, those who disowned, then said: "This is nothing but a human like you, who wants to gain superiority over you; had God willed, He would have sent down Agents; we have not heard this among our first ancestors. He is nothing but a man afflicted with derangement — so bide your time concerning him, for a time."
فقال الملوا الذين كفروا من قومه ما هذا الا بشر مثلكم يريد ان يتفضل عليكم ولو شا الله لانزل مليكه ما سمعنا بهذا في اباينا الاولين ان هو الا رجل به جنه فتربصوا به حتي حين
He said: "My Guardian, help me, for they have denied me."
قال رب انصرني بما كذبون
We then revealed to him: "Craft the vessel under Our eyes and by Our revelation.
فاوحينا اليه ان اصنع الفلك باعيننا ووحينا
Then, when Our command comes and the oven boils over, insert into it, of every kind, two elements of a pair, along with your family, except him among them against whom the saying has already preceded;
فاذا جا امرنا وفار التنور فاسلك فيها من كل زوجين اثنين واهلك الا من سبق عليه القول منهم
and do not address Me about those who have done wrong: they will indeed be drowned.
ولا تخطبني في الذين ظلموا انهم مغرقون
And when you have established yourself, you and those with you, in the vessel, say: Praise be to God who has saved us from the wrongdoing people.
فاذا استويت انت ومن معك علي الفلك فقل الحمد لله الذي نجينا من القوم الظلمين
And say: My Guardian, cause me to land at a blessed place of welcome, for You are the best of hosts."
وقل رب انزلني منزلا مباركا وانت خير المنزلين
There are surely in that signs,
ان في ذلك لايت
and We were indeed testing.
وان كنا لمبتلين
Then We brought into being, after them, another generation, and We sent among them a messenger from among them: Obey God, you have no other deity than Him.
ثم انشانا من بعدهم قرنا اخرين فارسلنا فيهم رسولا منهم ان اعبدوا الله ما لكم من اله غيره
Will you not then guard yourselves?
افلا تتقون
The court of his people, those who disowned and denied the meeting of the last life, and to whom We had given affluence in the present life, said: "This is nothing but a human like you, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink; and if you defer to a human like you, you will then indeed be losers. Does he promise you that, once dead and become earth and bones, you will be brought out? Far, far indeed is what you are promised! There is nothing but our present life, we die and we live, and we will not be raised up! He is nothing but a man who has invented a lie against God, and we will not believe him."
وقال الملا من قومه الذين كفروا وكذبوا بلقا الاخره واترفنهم في الحيوه الدنيا ما هذا الا بشر مثلكم ياكل مما تاكلون منه ويشرب مما تشربون ولين اطعتم بشرا مثلكم انكم اذا لخسرون ايعدكم انكم اذا متم وكنتم ترابا وعظما انكم مخرجون هيهات هيهات لما توعدون ان هي الا حياتنا الدنيا نموت ونحيا وما نحن بمبعوثين ان هو الا رجل افتري علي الله كذبا وما نحن له بمومنين
He said: "My Guardian, help me, for they have denied me."
قال رب انصرني بما كذبون
He said: "A little while yet, and they will surely find themselves full of regret."
قال عما قليل ليصبحن ندمين
The Cry then seized them in truth, and We made them into wisps of straw.
فاخذتهم الصيحه بالحق فجعلنهم غثا
Far removed then be the wrongdoing people!
فبعدا للقوم الظلمين
Then We brought into being, after them, other generations.
ثم انشانا من بعدهم قرونا اخرين
No community precedes its term, nor does it delay it.
ما تسبق من امه اجلها وما يستخرون
Then We sent Our messengers, one after another.
ثم ارسلنا رسلنا تترا
Every time a messenger came to a community, it denied him;
كل ما جا امه رسولها كذبوه
We thus made them follow one another, and We made them into topics of discourse.
فاتبعنا بعضهم بعضا وجعلنهم احاديث
Far removed then be a people that does not believe!
فبعدا لقوم لا يومنون
Then We sent Moussa and his brother Harun, with Our signs and a manifest authority, to Fir'awn and his court; but they grew proud and were a haughty people,
ثم ارسلنا موسي واخاه هرون بايتنا وسلطن مبين الي فرعون وملايه فاستكبروا وكانوا قوما عالين
and they said: "Shall we give credit to two humans like ourselves, while their people obey us?"
فقالوا انومن لبشرين مثلنا وقومهما لنا عبدون
They denied them, and were thus among those annihilated.
فكذبوهما فكانوا من المهلكين
We certainly gave Moussa the Scripture, perhaps they would let themselves be guided.
ولقد اتينا موسي الكتب لعلهم يهتدون
And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign,
وجعلنا ابن مريم وامه ايه
and We granted them refuge on a height endowed with stability and spring water.
واوينهما الي ربوه ذات قرار ومعين
O messengers, eat of the wholesome things and do sound deeds —
يايها الرسل كلوا من الطيبت واعملوا صلحا
I am All-Knowing of what you do.
اني بما تعملون عليم
And this community of yours is indeed a single community,
وان هذه امتكم امه وحده
and I am your Guardian: so guard yourselves toward Me.
وانا ربكم فاتقون
But they split their affair among themselves into pieces,
فتقطعوا امرهم بينهم زبرا
each party rejoicing in what it holds.
كل حزب بما لديهم فرحون
So forsake them in their gulf, for a time.
فذرهم في غمرتهم حتي حين
Do they think that, in granting them goods and sons, We speed toward them with the good?
ايحسبون انما نمدهم به من مال وبنين نسارع لهم في الخيرت
No, they do not sense it.
بل لا يشعرون
Those who, dreading their Guardian, are apprehensive, and those who believe in the signs of their Guardian, and those who associate nothing with their Guardian, and those who give what they give, their core trembling because they are returning to their Guardian — those speed toward good deeds,
ان الذين هم من خشيه ربهم مشفقون والذين هم بايت ربهم يومنون والذين هم بربهم لا يشركون والذين يوتون ما اتوا وقلوبهم وجله انهم الي ربهم رجعون اوليك يسرعون في الخيرت
and they race ahead of the others in that.
وهم لها سبقون
And We impose upon no Self except its capacity,
ولا نكلف نفسا الا وسعها
and We have a record that utters the truth, and they will not be wronged.
ولدينا كتب ينطق بالحق وهم لا يظلمون
But their core is in a gulf about this,
بل قلوبهم في غمره من هذا
and they have, apart from that, works
ولهم اعمل من دون ذلك
which they will continue to commit —
هم لها عملون
until, when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, there they are, crying out in distress.
حتي اذا اخذنا مترفيهم بالعذاب اذا هم يجرون
Do not cry out today,
لا تجروا اليوم
you will indeed not be helped by Us.
انكم منا لا تنصرون
My signs were indeed recited to you, and you stepped back on your heels, growing too proud for them,
قد كانت ايتي تتلي عليكم فكنتم علي اعقبكم تنكصون مستكبرين به
conversing by night, you spoke outrageously.
سمرا تهجرون
Have they then not pondered the saying, or has there come to them what did not come to their first ancestors?
افلم يدبروا القول ام جاهم ما لم يات اباهم الاولين
Or did they not recognize their messenger, to the point that they disavow him?
ام لم يعرفوا رسولهم فهم له منكرون
Or do they say that he is afflicted with derangement?
ام يقولون به جنه
No, he has come to them with the truth,
بل جاهم بالحق
but most of them are averse to the truth.
واكثرهم للحق كرهون
And had the truth followed their emotions, the heavens, the earth, and those therein would have been corrupted.
ولو اتبع الحق اهواهم لفسدت السموت والارض ومن فيهن
No, We have come to them with their own Reminder,
بل اتينهم بذكرهم
but they turn away from their Reminder.
فهم عن ذكرهم معرضون
Or do you ask them for a tribute?
ام تسلهم خرجا
The tribute of your Guardian is better,
فخراج ربك خير
and He is the best of providers.
وهو خير الرزقين
And you surely call them toward a straight path;
وانك لتدعوهم الي صرط مستقيم
but those who do not believe in the last life surely deviate from that path.
وان الذين لا يومنون بالاخره عن الصرط لنكبون
And if We had benevolence on them and removed from them the harm that was upon them, they would be mired in their immoderation, going about blindly.
ولو رحمنهم وكشفنا ما بهم من ضر للجوا في طغينهم يعمهون
We did indeed seize them with punishment, yet they did not bend before their Guardian, nor did they beseech,
ولقد اخذنهم بالعذاب فما استكانوا لربهم وما يتضرعون
until, when We open upon them a gate of severe punishment, there they are, in despair.
حتي اذا فتحنا عليهم بابا ذا عذاب شديد اذا هم فيه مبلسون
And He is the One who brought into being for you hearing, sight, and Consciences.
وهو الذي انشا لكم السمع والابصر والافده
How little you are grateful!
قليلا ما تشكرون
And He is the One who has scattered you upon the earth, and it is to Him that you will be gathered.
وهو الذي ذراكم في الارض واليه تحشرون
And He is the One who gives life and gives death,
وهو الذي يحي ويميت
and to Him belongs the alternation of night and day.
وله اختلف اليل والنهار
Will you not then reason?
افلا تعقلون
But they said the same thing that the ancients used to say; they said: "When we are dead, earth and bones, shall we really be raised?
بل قالوا مثل ما قال الاولون قالوا اذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظما انا لمبعوثون
We have indeed been promised this, we and our ancestors, before;
لقد وعدنا نحن واباونا هذا من قبل
these are nothing but legends of the ancients."
ان هذا الا اسطير الاولين
Say: "To whom belongs the earth and what is in it, if you know?" They will say: "To God."
قل لمن الارض ومن فيها ان كنتم تعلمون سيقولون لله
Say: "Will you not then remember?"
قل افلا تذكرون
Say: "Who is the Guardian of the seven heavens and the Guardian of the immense Edifice?"
قل من رب السموت السبع ورب العرش العظيم
They will say: "To God."
سيقولون لله
Say: "Will you not then guard yourselves?"
قل افلا تتقون
Say: "Who holds in His hand the sovereign dominion of everything, who grants asylum, and against whom none can obtain asylum, if you know?" They will say: "To God."
قل من بيده ملكوت كل شي وهو يجير ولا يجار عليه ان كنتم تعلمون سيقولون لله
Say: "How then are you abused by illusion?"
قل فاني تسحرون
No, We have come to them with the truth,
بل اتينهم بالحق
and they are surely liars.
وانهم لكذبون
God has taken no child,
ما اتخذ الله من ولد
and there was with Him no deity —
وما كان معه من اله
otherwise, each deity would have gone off with what it created, and some would have risen above others.
اذا لذهب كل اله بما خلق ولعلا بعضهم علي بعض
Glory be to God, above what they describe!
سبحن الله عما يصفون
The Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is witnessed,
علم الغيب والشهده
He is far above what they associate with Him.
فتعلي عما يشركون
Say: "My Guardian, if You show me what they are promised, then, my Guardian, do not place me among the wrongdoing people."
قل رب اما تريني ما يوعدون رب فلا تجعلني في القوم الظلمين
And We are surely able to show you what We promise them.
وانا علي ان نريك ما نعدهم لقدرون
Repel evil with what is better —
ادفع بالتي هي احسن السييه
We know best what they describe.
نحن اعلم بما يصفون
And say: "My Guardian, I take refuge with You from the incitements of the Diverters, and I take refuge with You, my Guardian, against their being present with me."
وقل رب اعوذ بك من همزت الشيطين واعوذ بك رب ان يحضرون
Until, when death comes to one of them, he says: "My Guardian, make me return, perhaps I will do a sound deed in that which I left." By no means!
حتي اذا جا احدهم الموت قال رب ارجعون لعلي اعمل صلحا فيما تركت كلا
It is indeed a word that he says,
انها كلمه هو قايلها
and behind them there is a barrier, until the day they are raised.
ومن ورايهم برزخ الي يوم يبعثون
Then, when the Horn is blown, there will be no ties of lineage between them that day, and they will not question one another.
فاذا نفخ في الصور فلا انساب بينهم يوميذ ولا يتسالون
Those whose balances are heavy — those are the ones who succeed;
فمن ثقلت موزينه فاوليك هم المفلحون
And those whose balances are light — those are the ones who have caused the loss of their Selves, abiding eternally in Jahannam; the Fire will scorch their faces, and they will grimace therein, lips drawn back.
ومن خفت موزينه فاوليك الذين خسروا انفسهم في جهنم خلدون تلفح وجوههم النار وهم فيها كلحون
Were My signs not recited to you, and you denied them?
الم تكن ايتي تتلي عليكم فكنتم بها تكذبون
They will say: "Our Guardian, our misery overcame us, and we were an astray people.
قالوا ربنا غلبت علينا شقوتنا وكنا قوما ضالين
Our Guardian, bring us out of it; if we relapse, we will then indeed be wrongdoers."
ربنا اخرجنا منها فان عدنا فانا ظلمون
He will say: "Remain therein, rebuffed, and do not speak to Me."
قال اخسوا فيها ولا تكلمون
There was a fraction among My obedient ones who said: "Our Guardian, we believe; forgive us and have benevolence on us, for You are the best of those who show benevolence" — but you made them the object of your scoffing, until they made you forget My Reminder, and you used to laugh at them.
انه كان فريق من عبادي يقولون ربنا امنا فاغفر لنا وارحمنا وانت خير الرحمين فاتخذتموهم سخريا حتي انسوكم ذكري وكنتم منهم تضحكون
I have indeed this day recompensed them for their patience: it is they who are the triumphant.
اني جزيتهم اليوم بما صبروا انهم هم الفايزون
He will say: "How many years did you remain on the earth?"
قل كم لبثتم في الارض عدد سنين
They will say: "We remained a day,
قالوا لبثنا يوما
or part of a day; so ask those who number."
او بعض يوم فسل العادين
He will say: "You remained only a little, if only you knew."
قل ان لبثتم الا قليلا لو انكم كنتم تعلمون
Did you then think that We created you in vain, and that you would not be returned to Us?
افحسبتم انما خلقنكم عبثا وانكم الينا لا ترجعون
So exalted be God, the Sovereign, the Truth!
فتعلي الله الملك الحق
There is no deity but Him,
لا اله الا هو
the Guardian of the noble Edifice.
رب العرش الكريم
And whoever invokes, with God, another deity, having no demonstration of it, his account rests only with his Guardian.
ومن يدع مع الله الها اخر لا برهن له به فانما حسابه عند ربه
Those who disown do not attain success.
انه لا يفلح الكفرون
And say: "My Guardian, forgive and have benevolence, for You are the best of those who show benevolence."
وقل رب اغفر وارحم وانت خير الرحمين
