What You Hold in Trust
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. All that is in the heavens and the earth has glorified God.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم سبح لله ما في السموت والارضAnd He is the All-Powerful, the Wise.
وهو العزيز الحكيمTo Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He gives life and gives death.
له ملك السموت والارض يحي ويميتAnd He is capable of all things.
وهو علي كل شي قديرHe is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden.
هو الاول والاخر والظهر والباطنAnd He is All-Knowing of all things.
وهو بكل شي عليمIt is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself upon the Edifice.
هو الذي خلق السموت والارض في سته ايام ثم استوي علي العرشHe knows what penetrates into the earth and what comes out of it, what descends from the sky and what ascends into it.
يعلم ما يلج في الارض وما يخرج منها وما ينزل من السما وما يعرج فيهاAnd He is with you wherever you are.
وهو معكم اين ما كنتمAnd God is All-Seeing of what you do.
والله بما تعملون بصيرTo Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth.
له ملك السموت والارضAnd it is to God that all matters return.
والي الله ترجع الامورHe causes the night to enter into the day and causes the day to enter into the night.
يولج اليل في النهار ويولج النهار في اليلAnd He is All-Knowing of what the chests contain.
وهو عليم بذات الصدورBelieve in God and His messenger, and spend from that which He has made you trustees of.
امنوا بالله ورسوله وانفقوا مما جعلكم مستخلفين فيهThose among you who have believed and spent will have a great reward.
فالذين امنوا منكم وانفقوا لهم اجر كبيرWhat is [the matter] with you that you do not believe in God, while the messenger invites you to believe in your Guardian, and He has already taken your solemn engagement, if you are believers?
وما لكم لا تومنون بالله والرسول يدعوكم لتومنوا بربكم وقد اخذ ميثقكم ان كنتم مومنينIt is He who sends down upon His obedient one clear signs, to bring you out of the darknesses into the light.
هو الذي ينزل علي عبده ايت بينت ليخرجكم من الظلمت الي النورAnd surely, God is to you full of kindness, Benevolent.
وان الله بكم لروف رحيمAnd what is [the matter] with you that you do not spend in the way of God, while to God belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth?
وما لكم الا تنفقوا في سبيل الله ولله ميرث السموت والارضNot equal among you are those who spent and fought before the opening [and those who did so later].
لا يستوي منكم من انفق من قبل الفتح وقتل...and [those who did so] afterward. Those are greater in degree than those who spent and fought afterward.
اوليك اعظم درجه من الذين انفقوا من بعد وقتلواBut to all, God has promised the best [reward].
وكلا وعد الله الحسنيAnd God is Informed of what you do.
والله بما تعملون خبيرWho is it that will lend God a goodly loan, so He will multiply it for him, and he will have a generous reward?
من ذا الذي يقرض الله قرضا حسنا فيضعفه له وله اجر كريمThe Day you will see the believing men and believing women, their light running before them and on their right.
يوم تري المومنين والمومنت يسعي نورهم بين ايديهم وبايمنهمYour good tidings today: gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein you will abide eternally.
بشريكم اليوم جنت تجري من تحتها الانهر خلدين فيهاThat is the immense triumph.
ذلك هو الفوز العظيمThe Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed: "Wait for us that we may borrow from your light." It will be said: "Go back behind you and seek a light."
يوم يقول المنفقون والمنفقت للذين امنوا انظرونا نقتبس من نوركم قيل ارجعوا وراكم فالتمسوا نوراThen a wall will be erected between them, having a gate, its interior containing benevolence, and its exterior, before it, containing punishment.
فضرب بينهم بسور له باب باطنه فيه الرحمه وظهره من قبله العذابThey will call to them: "Were we not with you?"
ينادونهم الم نكن معكمThey will say: "Yes, but you put yourselves to trial, and awaited, and doubted, and false hopes deceived you until the command of God came, and the great deceiver deceived you concerning God."
قالوا بلي ولكنكم فتنتم انفسكم وتربصتم وارتبتم وغرتكم الاماني حتي جا امر الله وغركم بالله الغرورSo today no ransom will be taken from you, nor from those who disowned. Your refuge is the Fire; it is your nearest guarantor.
فاليوم لا يوخذ منكم فديه ولا من الذين كفروا ماويكم النار هي موليكمAnd what an evil destination!
وبيس المصيرHas the time not come for those who believe that their cores should become humble at the remembrance of God and what has descended of truth?
الم يان للذين امنوا ان تخشع قلوبهم لذكر الله وما نزل من الحقAnd let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and the span grew long for them, so their cores hardened.
ولا يكونوا كالذين اوتوا الكتب من قبل فطال عليهم الامد فقست قلوبهمAnd many of them are the oversteppers.
وكثير منهم فسقونKnow that God gives life to the earth after its death.
اعلموا ان الله يحي الارض بعد موتهاWe have already made the signs clear to you, that you might reason.
قد بينا لكم الايت لعلكم تعقلونIndeed, the men and women who give alms, and who lend God a goodly loan — it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a generous reward.
ان المصدقين والمصدقت واقرضوا الله قرضا حسنا يضعف لهم ولهم اجر كريمAnd those who believe in God and His messengers — those are the men of truth.
والذين امنوا بالله ورسله اوليك هم الصديقونAnd the witnesses, with their Guardian.
والشهدا عند ربهمThey will have their reward and their light.
لهم اجرهم ونورهمAnd those who have disowned and denied Our signs — those are the companions of the Blaze.
والذين كفروا وكذبوا بايتنا اوليك اصحب الجحيمKnow that the present life is but play, distraction, adornment, mutual boasting among you, and rivalry in accumulation of goods and children — like the example of a saving rain whose vegetation delights the sowers, then it dries up, and you see it turn yellow, then it becomes debris.
اعلموا انما الحيوه الدنيا لعب ولهو وزينه وتفاخر بينكم وتكاثر في الامول والاولد كمثل غيث اعجب الكفار نباته ثم يهيج فتريه مصفرا ثم يكون حطماAnd in the last life: severe punishment, and forgiveness from God and good pleasure.
وفي الاخره عذاب شديد ومغفره من الله ورضونAnd the present life is nothing but a deceptive enjoyment.
وما الحيوه الدنيا الا متع الغرورRace toward forgiveness from your Guardian and a garden whose width is like the width of the heaven and the earth, prepared for those who believe in God and His messengers.
سابقوا الي مغفره من ربكم وجنه عرضها كعرض السما والارض اعدت للذين امنوا بالله ورسلهThat is the favor of God, which He grants to whom He wills.
ذلك فضل الله يوتيه من يشاAnd God holds the immense favor.
والله ذو الفضل العظيمNo calamity strikes the earth or yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being.
ما اصاب من مصيبه في الارض ولا في انفسكم الا في كتب من قبل ان نبراهاThat is indeed easy for God — so that you do not lament for what has escaped you, nor exult [excessively] over what He has given you.
ان ذلك علي الله يسير لكيلا تاسوا علي ما فاتكم ولا تفرحوا بما اتيكمAnd God does not love any arrogant boaster.
والله لا يحب كل مختال فخورThose who are stingy and enjoin stinginess upon people.
الذين يبخلون ويامرون الناس بالبخلAnd whoever turns away — indeed God is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy.
ومن يتول فان الله هو الغني الحميدWe have certainly sent Our messengers with clear proofs and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that people may maintain equity.
لقد ارسلنا رسلنا بالبينت وانزلنا معهم الكتب والميزان ليقوم الناس بالقسطAnd We sent down iron, in which is great strength and benefits for the people.
وانزلنا الحديد فيه باس شديد ومنفع للناسAnd so that God may distinguish who helps Him and His messengers, without seeing Him.
وليعلم الله من ينصره ورسله بالغيبIndeed, God is the Strong, the All-Powerful.
ان الله قوي عزيزAnd We certainly sent Nuh and Ibrahim and placed in their descendants prophecy and the Scripture.
ولقد ارسلنا نوحا وابرهيم وجعلنا في ذريتهما النبوه والكتبSome of them let themselves be guided...
فمنهم مهتد...and many of them are the oversteppers.
وكثير منهم فسقونThen We caused Our messengers to follow in their footsteps, and We caused Issa son of Maryam to follow, and We gave him the Injil.
ثم قفينا علي اثرهم برسلنا وقفينا بعيسي ابن مريم واتينه الانجيلAnd We placed in the cores of those who followed him kindness and benevolence, and monasticism, which they invented — We did not prescribe it for them — except in seeking the good pleasure of God.
وجعلنا في قلوب الذين اتبعوه رافه ورحمه ورهبانيه ابتدعوها ما كتبنها عليهم الا ابتغا رضون اللهBut they did not observe it as it should have been observed.
فما رعوها حق رعايتهاSo We gave those among them who believed their reward.
فاتينا الذين امنوا منهم اجرهمAnd many of them are the oversteppers.
وكثير منهم فسقونO you who have believed! guard yourselves toward God and believe in His messenger; He will give you a double portion of His benevolence and make for you a light by which you will walk, and He will forgive you.
يايها الذين امنوا اتقوا الله وامنوا برسوله يوتكم كفلين من رحمته ويجعل لكم نورا تمشون به ويغفر لكمAnd God is Most-Forgiving, Benevolent — so that the People of the Scripture may know that they have no power over anything of the favor of God, and that [all] favor is in the hand of God, which He gives to whom He wills.
والله غفور رحيم ليلا يعلم اهل الكتب الا يقدرون علي شي من فضل الله وان الفضل بيد الله يوتيه من يشاAnd God holds the immense favor.
والله ذو الفضل العظيم
