2:13 Sura 2 · Guidance for Those Who Guard Themselves Open the verse →
And when it is said to them: "Believe as men have believed", they say: "Should we believe as the fools have believed?"
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ ءَامِنُوا۟ كَمَآ ءَامَنَ ٱلنَّاسُ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ كَمَآ ءَامَنَ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ -

Is it not so: it is indeed they who are the fools; but they do not know.
أَلَآ إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَعْلَمُونَ -

And who, then, falls away from the doctrine of Ibrahim, but one who makes a fool of his own Self?
وَمَن يَرْغَبُ عَن مِّلَّةِ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ إِلَّا مَن سَفِهَ نَفْسَهُۥ -

The fools, among mankind, will say: "What has turned them away from their rallying point, the one they used to be upon?"
سَيَقُولُ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَا وَلَّىٰهُمْ عَن قِبْلَتِهِمُ ٱلَّتِى كَانُوا۟ عَلَيْهَا -

And if he upon whom the due rests is foolish, or weak, or cannot dictate himself, let his legal guardian dictate, then, with justice.
فَإِن كَانَ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ سَفِيهًا أَوْ ضَعِيفًا أَوْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَن يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُۥ بِٱلْعَدْلِ -

And do not give to the foolish your goods, which God has made a support for you;
وَلَا تُؤْتُوا۟ ٱلسُّفَهَآءَ أَمْوَٰلَكُمُ ٱلَّتِى جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ قِيَٰمًۭا -

They are indeed losers, those who killed their children out of foolishness, without knowledge, and who held as prohibited what God had provided them, in invention against God.
قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَتَلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَهُمْ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍۢ وَحَرَّمُوا۟ مَا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَى ٱللَّهِ -

The court of his people, those who had disowned, said: "We see you surely in sheer foolishness, and we surely presume you to be among the liars."
قَالَ ٱلْمَلَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّا لَنَرَىٰكَ فِى سَفَاهَةٍۢ وَإِنَّا لَنَظُنُّكَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ -
7:67 Sura 7 · Am I Not Your Guardian? Open the verse →
He said: "O my people! There is no foolishness in me, but I am a messenger from the Guardian of all beings.
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِى سَفَاهَةٌۭ وَلَٰكِنِّى رَسُولٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ -

Would You annihilate us for what the foolish among us have done?
أَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ مِنَّآ -

And the foolish among us used to speak, against God, excessive words.
وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ شَطَطًۭا
