At-Talaq

O Informant! When you repudiate women, repudiate them with regard to their prescribed waiting period, and enumerate that period.

يايها النبي اذا طلقتم النساء فطلقوهن لعدتهن واحصوا العدة

And guard yourselves toward God, your Guardian.

واتقوا الله ربكم

Do not make them leave their houses,

لا تخرجوهن من بيوتهن

nor should they leave, unless they commit a flagrant indecency.

ولا يخرجن الا ان ياتين بفحشة مبينة

Those are the limits of God.

وتلك حدود الله

And whoever crosses the limits of God has wronged his own Self.

ومن يتعد حدود الله فقد ظلم نفسه

Then, when they reach their term, retain them according to what is recognized or part from them according to what is recognized,

فاذا بلغن اجلهن فامسكوهن بمعروف او فارقوهن بمعروف

and take as witnesses two just ones among you,

واشهدوا ذوى عدل منكم

and maintain the testimony for God.

واقيموا الشهدة لله

And whoever guards himself toward God, He grants him a way out, and provides for him from where he does not expect.

ومن يتق الله يجعل له مخرجا ويرزقه من حيث لا يحتسب

And whoever relies upon God, He is sufficient for him.

ومن يتوكل على الله فهو حسبه

God indeed brings His command to its term.

ان الله بلغ امره

As for those of your women who no longer expect menstruation, if you are in doubt, their waiting period is three months, and likewise for those who have not had their menstruation.

والي ييسن من المحيض من نسايكم ان ارتبتم فعدتهن ثلثة اشهر والي لم يحضن

And for pregnant women, their term is when they deliver.

واولت الاحمال اجلهن ان يضعن حملهن

That is God's command, which He has sent down to you.

ذلك امر الله انزله اليكم

Let them dwell where you yourselves dwell, according to your means,

اسكنوهن من حيث سكنتم من وجدكم

and do not harm them so as to put them in straits.

ولا تضاروهن لتضيقوا عليهن

And if they are pregnant, provide for them until they deliver.

وان كن اولت حمل فانفقوا عليهن حتى يضعن حملهن

Then, if they take the child into care for you, give them their rewards, and consult together according to what is recognized.

فان ارضعن لكم فاتوهن اجورهن واتمروا بينكم بمعروف

Let the well-off spend according to his ampleness,

لينفق ذو سعة من سعته

and let whoever's provision is restricted spend from what God has provided him.

ومن قدر عليه رزقه فلينفق مما ءاتىه الله

God imposes upon no Self except what He has given it.

لا يكلف الله نفسا الا ما ءاتىها

How many a town defied with insolence the command of its Guardian and His messengers! We called it to a strict account and punished it with a horrible punishment, and it tasted the baleful consequences of its conduct.

وكاين من قرية عتت عن امر ربها ورسله فحاسبنها حسابا شديدا وعذبنها عذابا نكرا فذاقت وبال امرها

God has prepared for them a severe punishment.

اعد الله لهم عذابا شديدا

So guard yourselves toward God, O possessors of intelligence,

فاتقوا الله ياولي الالبب

a messenger who recites to you God's clarifying signs, so as to bring those who have believed and done sound deeds out of the darknesses into the light.

رسولا يتلوا عليكم ءايت الله مبينت ليخرج الذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت من الظلمت الى النور

God is the One who created seven heavens, and of the earth their like.

الله الذي خلق سبع سموت ومن الارض مثلهن
