The Obedient Ones of the All-Benevolent
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His obedient one, that he may be a warner to all beings,
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم تبارك الذي نزل الفرقان على عبده ليكون للعلمين نذيراHe to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, who has taken no child and has no associate in the dominion,
الذي له ملك السموت والارض ولم يتخذ ولدا ولم يكن له شريك في الملكand who created everything and measured it with precision.
وخلق كل شىء فقدره تقديراYet they have taken, besides Him, deities that create nothing and are themselves created, that hold for themselves neither harm nor benefit, and that hold neither death, nor life, nor Awakening.
واتخذوا من دونه ءالهة لا يخلقون شيا وهم يخلقون ولا يملكون لانفسهم ضرا ولا نفعا ولا يملكون موتا ولا حيوة ولا نشوراThose who disown say: This is nothing but a fabrication he invented, and another group helped him with it.
وقال الذين كفروا ان هذا الا افك افترىه واعانه عليه قوم ءاخرونThey have thus come with injustice and falsehood, saying: These are legends of the ancients that he has transcribed himself, dictated to him morning and evening.
فقد جاءو ظلما وزورا وقالوا اسطير الاولين اكتتبها فهي تملى عليه بكرة واصيلاSay: He who knows the secret of the heavens and the earth has sent it down.
قل انزله الذي يعلم السر في السموت والارضHe is indeed Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
انه كان غفورا رحيماThey say: What is with this messenger, that he eats food and walks in the marketplaces? Why has not an Agent been sent down to him to be a warner with him, or why is a treasure not thrown down to him, or why does he not have a garden to eat from!
وقالوا مال هذا الرسول ياكل الطعام ويمشي في الاسواق لولا انزل اليه ملك فيكون معه نذيرا او يلقى اليه كنز او تكون له جنة ياكل منهاAnd the wrongdoers say: You follow none but a man abused by illusion.
وقال الظلمون ان تتبعون الا رجلا مسحوراSee how they multiply examples about you: they have thus gone astray and can no longer find a way.
انظر كيف ضربوا لك الامثل فضلوا فلا يستطيعون سبيلاBlessed is He who, if He willed, would give you better than that: gardens beneath which rivers flow, and He would give you palaces.
تبارك الذي ان شاء جعل لك خيرا من ذلك جنت تجري من تحتها الانهر ويجعل لك قصوراBut rather they have denied the Hour.
بل كذبوا بالساعةAnd We have prepared, for whoever denies the Hour, the Inferno. When it sees them from a distant place, they will hear its fury and its roar.
واعتدنا لمن كذب بالساعة سعيرا اذا راتهم من مكان بعيد سمعوا لها تغيظا وزفيراAnd when they are thrown into a narrow place therein, bound together, they will call there for their ruin.
واذا القوا منها مكانا ضيقا مقرنين دعوا هنالك ثبوراDo not call today for a single ruin, but call for many ruins.
لا تدعوا اليوم ثبورا وحدا وادعوا ثبورا كثيراSay: Is that better, or the garden of everlastingness promised to those who guard themselves?
قل اذلك خير ام جنة الخلد التي وعد المتقونIt will be for them a recompense and a destination.
كانت لهم جزاء ومصيراThey will have therein whatever they desire, abiding therein eternally —
لهم فيها ما يشاءون خلدينthat is, on the part of your Guardian, a promise that will be called to account.
كان على ربك وعدا مسولاAnd the day when He gathers them, them and what they obeyed besides God, He will say: Was it you who led these obedient ones of Mine astray, or did they themselves stray from the way?
ويوم يحشرهم وما يعبدون من دون الله فيقول ءانتم اضللتم عبادي هولاء ام هم ضلوا السبيلThey will say: Glory be to You! It was not fitting for us to take, besides You, any allies;
قالوا سبحنك ما كان ينبغي لنا ان نتخذ من دونك من اولياءbut You granted them enjoyment, them and their ancestors, until they forgot the Reminder and became a ruined people.
ولكن متعتهم وءاباءهم حتى نسوا الذكر وكانوا قوما بوراThey have thus denied you in what you say; they can neither avert [the punishment] nor [give you] help.
فقد كذبوكم بما تقولون فما تستطيعون صرفا ولا نصراWhoever among you commits injustice, We will make him taste a great punishment.
ومن يظلم منكم نذقه عذابا كبيراWe did not send before you any of the envoys who did not eat food and walk in the marketplaces.
وما ارسلنا قبلك من المرسلين الا انهم لياكلون الطعام ويمشون في الاسواقAnd We have made some of you a trial for others.
وجعلنا بعضكم لبعض فتنةWill you endure?
اتصبرونYour Guardian sees perfectly.
وكان ربك بصيراAnd those who do not hope for Our meeting say: Why are the Agents not sent down to us, or why do we not see our Guardian!
وقال الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا لولا انزل علينا المليكة او نرى ربناThey have greatly swelled with pride within themselves and overstepped all bounds with immense insolence.
لقد استكبروا في انفسهم وعتو عتوا كبيراThe day they see the Agents, there will be, on that day, no good news for the severed,
يوم يرون المليكة لا بشرى يوميذ للمجرمينand they will say: 'A barrier
ويقولون حجراthat cannot be crossed!'
محجوراAnd We turned to every deed they had done, and We reduced it to scattered dust.
وقدمنا الى ما عملوا من عمل فجعلنه هباء منثوراThe companions of the garden, that day, will have a better abode and a more beautiful resting place.
اصحب الجنة يوميذ خير مستقرا واحسن مقيلاAnd the day when the sky will split apart with the clouds, and the Agents will be sent down, a complete descent,
ويوم تشقق السماء بالغمم ونزل المليكة تنزيلاthe dominion, that day, in all truth, will belong to the All-Benevolent,
الملك يوميذ الحق للرحمنand it will be, for those who disown, a difficult day.
وكان يوما على الكفرين عسيراAnd the day the unjust one bites his hands, he will say: Ah, if only I had taken a way with the messenger! Woe to me! If only I had not taken so-and-so as an intimate friend! He led me astray from the Reminder after it had reached me.
ويوم يعض الظالم على يديه يقول يليتني اتخذت مع الرسول سبيلا يويلتى ليتني لم اتخذ فلانا خليلا لقد اضلني عن الذكر بعد اذ جاءنيThe Diverter is, for the human being, one who always abandons him [at the critical moment].
وكان الشيطن للانسن خذولاAnd the messenger will say: O my Guardian, my people have forsaken this Recitation.
وقال الرسول يرب ان قومي اتخذوا هذا القرءان مهجوراThus have We given to every prophet an enemy from among the severed.
وكذلك جعلنا لكل نبي عدوا من المجرمينYour Guardian suffices as guide and as helper.
وكفى بربك هاديا ونصيراAnd those who disown say: Why was the Recitation not sent down upon him all at once!
وقال الذين كفروا لولا نزل عليه القرءان جملة وحدةThus, so that We may steady your Conscience through it —
كذلك لنثبت به فوادكand We conveyed it to you in measured order.
ورتلنه ترتيلاThey bring you no example without Our bringing you the truth and a better explanation.
ولا ياتونك بمثل الا جينك بالحق واحسن تفسيراThose who will be gathered upon their faces toward Jahannam — those have the worst position and the most astray path.
الذين يحشرون على وجوههم الى جهنم اوليك شر مكانا واضل سبيلاWe gave Moussa the Scripture, and We placed with him his brother Harun as support.
ولقد ءاتينا موسى الكتب وجعلنا معه اخاه هرون وزيراWe said: Go, both of you, to the people who have denied Our signs.
فقلنا اذهبا الى القوم الذين كذبوا بايتناAnd We destroyed them completely.
فدمرنهم تدميراAnd the people of Nuh, when they denied the messengers, We drowned them and made them a sign for the people.
وقوم نوح لما كذبوا الرسل اغرقنهم وجعلنهم للناس ءايةAnd We have prepared for the wrongdoers a painful punishment.
واعتدنا للظلمين عذابا اليماAnd the Recidivists [Aad], and the Depleters [Thamud], and the companions of the Rass, and many generations between those times,
وعادا وثمودا واصحب الرس وقرونا بين ذلك كثيراand to each We multiplied the examples,
وكلا ضربنا له الامثلand each one, We destroyed completely.
وكلا تبرنا تتبيراYet they passed by the city upon which had fallen a dreadful rain:
ولقد اتوا على القرية التي امطرت مطر السوءshould they not have seen it?
افلم يكونوا يرونهاBut they did not hope for any Awakening.
بل كانوا لا يرجون نشوراAnd when they see you, they take you only as an object of mockery:
واذا راوك ان يتخذونك الا هزواIs this the one God has sent as a messenger? He nearly led us astray from our deities, had we not remained firmly attached to them!
اهذا الذي بعث الله رسولا ان كاد ليضلنا عن ءالهتنا لولا ان صبرنا عليهاThey will know, when they see the punishment, who was most astray from the way.
وسوف يعلمون حين يرون العذاب من اضل سبيلاHave you seen him who has taken his emotion as his deity? Would you then be his trustee?
ارءيت من اتخذ الهه هوىه افانت تكون عليه وكيلاOr do you think that most of them hear or reason?
ام تحسب ان اكثرهم يسمعون او يعقلونThey are but like cattle — or even further astray from the way.
ان هم الا كالانعم بل هم اضل سبيلاHave you not seen your Guardian, how He extends the shadow?
الم تر الى ربك كيف مد الظلHad He willed, He would have made it still.
ولو شاء لجعله ساكناThen We made the sun its indicator; then We drew it back to Us, an easy withdrawal.
ثم جعلنا الشمس عليه دليلا ثم قبضنه الينا قبضا يسيراIt is He who made for you the night a garment, sleep a rest, and the day a time of awakening.
وهو الذي جعل لكم اليل لباسا والنوم سباتا وجعل النهار نشوراIt is He who sends the winds, which disperse, before His benevolence,
وهو الذي ارسل الريح بشرا بين يدى رحمتهand We sent down from the sky a purifying water, to bring to life through it a dead land, and to give drink from it to many of the cattle and human beings We created.
وانزلنا من السماء ماء طهورا لنحي به بلدة ميتا ونسقيه مما خلقنا انعما واناسي كثيراWe distributed it among them so that they might remember; but most people want nothing but profound disowning.
ولقد صرفنه بينهم ليذكروا فابى اكثر الناس الا كفوراHad We willed, We would have sent into every city a warner.
ولو شينا لبعثنا في كل قرية نذيراSo do not obey those who disown,
فلا تطع الكفرينand strive against them through it with a great striving.
وجهدهم به جهادا كبيراIt is He who made the two seas meet: this one sweet, palatable, and that one salty, bitter.
وهو الذي مرج البحرين هذا عذب فرات وهذا ملح اجاجand He placed between them a barrier and an impassable boundary.
وجعل بينهما برزخا وحجرا محجوراIt is He who, from water, created a human, and made of him lineage and kinship by marriage.
وهو الذي خلق من الماء بشرا فجعله نسبا وصهراYour Guardian is capable of all things.
وكان ربك قديراAnd they obey, besides God, that which neither benefits nor harms them;
ويعبدون من دون الله ما لا ينفعهم ولا يضرهمand he who disowns makes himself, against his Guardian, an ally [of the forces of error].
وكان الكافر على ربه ظهيراWe have not sent you except as a bearer of good tidings and a warner.
وما ارسلنك الا مبشرا ونذيراSay: I ask of you no payment for this, except that whoever wishes take a way to his Guardian.
قل ما اسلكم عليه من اجر الا من شاء ان يتخذ الى ربه سبيلاRely upon the Living One who does not die,
وتوكل على الحى الذي لا يموتand glorify Him with praise.
وسبح بحمدهHe suffices, He, as Informed of the offenses of His obedient ones.
وكفى به بذنوب عباده خبيراHe who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days, then established Himself upon the Edifice —
الذي خلق السموت والارض وما بينهما في ستة ايام ثم استوى على العرشthe All-Benevolent.
الرحمنSo ask about Him an Informed Knower.
فسل به خبيراAnd when it is said to them: Prostrate before the All-Benevolent, they say: What is the All-Benevolent?
واذا قيل لهم اسجدوا للرحمن قالوا وما الرحمنShall we prostrate before what you order us? And it only increases their aversion.
انسجد لما تامرنا وزادهم نفوراBlessed is He who placed in the sky constellations, and placed therein a torch and a shining moon.
تبارك الذي جعل في السماء بروجا وجعل فيها سرجا وقمرا منيراIt is He who made the night and the day a succession, for whoever wants to remember or wants to be grateful.
وهو الذي جعل اليل والنهار خلفة لمن اراد ان يذكر او اراد شكوراAnd the obedient ones of the All-Benevolent are those who walk upon the earth with humility, and who, when the ignorant address them, say: Peace.
وعباد الرحمن الذين يمشون على الارض هونا واذا خاطبهم الجهلون قالوا سلماAnd those who spend the night prostrating and standing for their Guardian,
والذين يبيتون لربهم سجدا وقيماand those who say: Our Guardian, turn away from us the punishment of Jahannam — for its punishment is a persistent torment;
والذين يقولون ربنا اصرف عنا عذاب جهنم ان عذابها كان غراماit is indeed an evil abode and an evil dwelling —
انها ساءت مستقرا ومقاماand those who, when they spend, neither waste nor withhold excessively, standing between the two with just measure,
والذين اذا انفقوا لم يسرفوا ولم يقتروا وكان بين ذلك قواماand those who do not invoke, with God, any other deity, and who do not kill the Self that God has made inviolable, except by right, and who do not commit fornication —
والذين لا يدعون مع الله الها ءاخر ولا يقتلون النفس التي حرم الله الا بالحق ولا يزنونand whoever does that will meet with grave transgression: the punishment will be doubled for him on the Day of Appearance, and he will abide therein humiliated, except him who repents, believes, and does righteous work — those, God will change their bad deeds into good deeds,
ومن يفعل ذلك يلق اثاما يضعف له العذاب يوم القيمة ويخلد فيه مهانا الا من تاب وءامن وعمل عملا صلحا فاوليك يبدل الله سياتهم حسنتfor God is Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
وكان الله غفورا رحيماAnd whoever repents and acts righteously indeed returns to God, a sincere return.
ومن تاب وعمل صلحا فانه يتوب الى الله متاباAnd those who do not bear witness to falsehood, and who, when they pass by idle talk, pass with dignity,
والذين لا يشهدون الزور واذا مروا باللغو مروا كراماand those who, when reminded by the signs of their Guardian, do not collapse upon them as deaf and blind,
والذين اذا ذكروا بايت ربهم لم يخروا عليها صما وعمياناand those who say: Our Guardian, grant us, from our spouses and our descendants, a rest of the gaze, and make us a model for those who guard themselves —
والذين يقولون ربنا هب لنا من ازوجنا وذريتنا قرة اعين واجعلنا للمتقين اماماthose will be recompensed with the high chamber for their endurance, and will be received therein with a greeting and a peace, abiding therein eternally.
اوليك يجزون الغرفة بما صبروا ويلقون فيها تحية وسلما خلدين فيهاWhat an excellent abode and an excellent dwelling!
حسنت مستقرا ومقاماSay: My Guardian would care little for you, were it not for your invocation.
قل ما يعبوا بكم ربي لولا دعاوكمYou have thus denied, and it will become inescapable.
فقد كذبتم فسوف يكون لزاما
