Nuh

We sent Nuh to his people: "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."

إنآ أرسلنا نوحا إلى قومه أن أنذر قومك من قبل أن يأتيهم عذاب أليم

The term of God, when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you only knew."

إن أجل ٱلله إذا جآء لا يؤخر لو كنتم تعلمون

He said, "My Guardian, indeed I have called my people night and day, but my call has only increased them in flight.

قال رب إني دعوت قومي ليلا ونهارا فلم يزدهم دعآءي إلا فرارا

And every time I called them, that You might forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their clothes, persisted, and grew proud, fully."

وإني كلما دعوتهم لتغفر لهم جعلوا أصبعهم في ءاذانهم وٱستغشوا ثيابهم وأصروا وٱستكبروا ٱستكبارا

"Then I called them openly.

ثم إني دعوتهم جهارا

Then I announced to them publicly and confided to them privately, and said: Ask forgiveness of your Guardian; indeed, He is ever a Great Forgiver. He will send upon you the sky in copious streams, and provide you with goods and sons, and give you gardens, and give you rivers.

ثم إني أعلنت لهم وأسررت لهم إسرارا فقلت ٱستغفروا ربكم إنه كان غفارا يرسل ٱلسمآء عليكم مدرارا ويمددكم بأمول وبنين ويجعل لكم جنت ويجعل لكم أنهرا

What is with you, that you do not hope from God for gravity, when He has created you in successive stages?

ما لكم لا ترجون لله وقارا وقد خلقكم أطوارا

Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in layers, and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a torch?

ألم تروا كيف خلق ٱلله سبع سموت طباقا وجعل ٱلقمر فيهن نورا وجعل ٱلشمس سراجا

And God has caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. Then He will return you into it and bring you out a new emergence.

وٱلله أنبتكم من ٱلأرض نباتا ثم يعيدكم فيها ويخرجكم إخراجا

And God has made for you the earth an expanse, that you may follow therein ways, wide passes."

وٱلله جعل لكم ٱلأرض بساطا لتسلكوا منها سبلا فجاجا

Nuh said, "My Guardian, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose goods and children increased him not except in loss, and they have plotted a very great plot,

قال نوح رب إنهم عصوني وٱتبعوا من لم يزده ماله وولده إلا خسارا ومكروا مكرا كبارا

and said: Never forsake your deities, nor forsake Wadd, nor Suwa', nor Yaghuth, nor Ya'uq, nor Nasr.

وقالوا لا تذرن ءالهتكم ولا تذرن ودا ولا سواعا ولا يغوث ويعوق ونسرا

And do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."

ولا تزد ٱلظلمين إلا ضللا

Because of their faults they were drowned and put into a fire, and they found none besides God to help them.

مما خطيتهم أغرقوا فأدخلوا نارا فلم يجدوا لهم من دون ٱلله أنصارا

And Nuh said, "My Guardian, spare not upon the earth, among the disowners, any dweller.

وقال نوح رب لا تذر على ٱلأرض من ٱلكفرين ديارا

If You spare them, they will mislead Your obedient ones and will not beget except depraved ones, great disowners."

إنك إن تذرهم يضلوا عبادك ولا يلدوا إلا فاجرا كفارا

and do not increase the wrongdoers except in devastation."

ولا تزد ٱلظلمين إلا تبارا
