Saba

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Praise be to God, to whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth,

ٮسم الله الرحمں الرحٮم الحمد لله الدى له ما ڡى السموٮ وما ڡى الارص

and to Him belongs praise in the last life.

وله الحمد ڡى الاحره

He knows what penetrates into the earth and what comes out of it, what descends from the sky and what ascends into it.

ٮعلم ما ٮلح ڡى الارص وما ٮحرح مٮها وما ٮٮرل مں السما وما ٮعرح ڡٮها

And those who disown have said, "The Hour will not come to us."

وڡال الدٮں كڡروا لا ٮاٮٮٮا الساعه

Say, "Yes, by my Guardian, it will surely come to you —

ڡل ٮلى ورٮى لٮاٮٮٮكم

nor anything smaller or greater than that, without it being in an explicit register — so that He may recompense those who believed and did sound deeds."

ولا اصعر مں دلك ولا اكٮر الا ڡى كٮٮ مٮٮں لٮحرى الدٮں امٮوا وعملوا الصلحٮ

Has he invented a lie against God, or is he afflicted with some derangement?"

اڡٮرى على الله كدٮا ام ٮه حٮه

Have they not looked at what is before them and what is behind them, of the sky and the earth?

اڡلم ٮروا الى ما ٮٮں اٮدٮهم وما حلڡهم مں السما والارص

If We willed, We could make the earth swallow them, or make a fragment of the sky tumble upon them.

اں ٮسا ٮحسڡ ٮهم الارص او ٮسڡط علٮهم كسڡا مں السما

And We softened the iron for him: "Make ample coats of mail, and measure well the interlocking of the mail,

والٮا له الحدٮد اں اعمل سٮعٮ وڡدر ڡى السرد

and do sound deeds:

واعملوا صلحا

And to Sulayman the wind: its outward course was a month's journey, and its homeward course was a month's journey.

ولسلٮمں الرٮح عدوها سهر ورواحها سهر

And We made a spring of naphtha spill forth for him.

واسلٮا له عٮں الڡطر

And among the Occulted were some who worked before him, by the permission of his Guardian;

ومں الحں مں ٮعمل ٮٮں ٮدٮه ٮادں رٮه

They made for him whatever he willed of oratories, statues, basins like great reservoirs, and firmly anchored cauldrons.

ٮعملوں له ما ٮسا مں محرٮٮ وٮمٮٮل وحڡاں كالحواٮ وڡدور راسٮٮ

"Work, clan of Dawud,

اعملوا ال داود

in gratitude" —

سكرا

Then when We decreed death upon him, nothing pointed them to his death except a living being of the earth eating away his staff;

ڡلما ڡصٮٮا علٮه الموٮ ما دلهم على موٮه الا داٮه الارص ٮاكل مٮساٮه

There was certainly for Saba' a sign in their dwelling place:

لڡد كاں لسٮا ڡى مسكٮهم اٮه

two gardens, on the right and on the left.

حٮٮاں عں ٮمٮں وسمال

"Eat from the provision of your Guardian, and be grateful to Him:

كلوا مں ررٯ رٮكم واسكروا له

But they turned away, so We sent upon them the destructive flood of the dam,

ڡاعرصوا ڡارسلٮا علٮهم سٮل العرم

That is how We recompensed them for what they disowned —

دلك حرٮٮهم ٮما كڡروا

And We had placed between them and the cities that We had blessed, cities lying uncovered, and We had measured the journey between them:

وحعلٮا ٮٮٮهم وٮٮں الڡرى الٮى ٮركٮا ڡٮها ڡرى طهره وڡدرٮا ڡٮها السٮر

But they said, "Our Guardian, lengthen the distances between our journeys" — and they wronged themselves; so We made them into topics of discourse, and We disintegrated them utterly.

ڡڡالوا رٮٮا ٮعد ٮٮں اسڡارٮا وطلموا اٮڡسهم ڡحعلٮهم احادٮٮ ومرڡٮهم كل ممرٯ

And he had no authority over them, except that We might distinguish who believes in the last life from who is in doubt about it.

وما كاں له علٮهم مں سلطں الا لٮعلم مں ٮومں ٮالاحره ممں هو مٮها ڡى سك

Say, "Call upon those you claim besides God:

ڡل ادعوا الدٮں رعمٮم مں دوں الله

they do not possess the weight of a grain, in the heavens or on the earth,

لا ٮملكوں مٮڡال دره ڡى السموٮ ولا ڡى الارص

and they have no share in either,

وما لهم ڡٮهما مں سرك

And intercession does not benefit with Him, except for one to whom He has given permission,

ولا ٮٮڡع السڡعه عٮده الا لمں ادں له

until, when fright is lifted from their cores, they say, "What did your Guardian say?" They will say, "The truth.

حٮى ادا ڡرع عں ڡلوٮهم ڡالوا مادا ڡال رٮكم ڡالوا الحٯ

Say, "Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?" Say, "God.

ڡل مں ٮررڡكم مں السموٮ والارص ڡل الله

Say, "Our Guardian will bring us together, then He will open between us in truth,

ڡل ٮحمع ٮٮٮٮا رٮٮا ٮم ٮڡٮح ٮٮٮٮا ٮالحٯ

Say, "Show me those you have attached to Him as associates. By no means! —

ڡل اروٮى الدٮں الحڡٮم ٮه سركا كلا

And We have not sent you except to all mankind, a bearer of good tidings and a warner,

وما ارسلٮك الا كاڡه للٮاس ٮسٮرا وٮدٮرا

And those who disown have said, "We will never believe in this Recitation, nor in what came before it."

وڡال الدٮں كڡروا لں ٮومں ٮهدا الڡراں ولا ٮالدى ٮٮں ٮدٮه

And if you could see when the wrongdoers are halted before their Guardian, returning the saying to one another —

ولو ٮرى اد الطلموں موڡوڡوں عٮد رٮهم ٮرحع ٮعصهم الى ٮعص الڡول

And those who were deemed weak will say to those who grew proud, "It was rather a plot, night and day, when you commanded us to disown God and to assign equals to Him."

وڡال الدٮں اسٮصعڡوا للدٮں اسٮكٮروا ٮل مكر الٮل والٮهار اد ٮامروٮٮا اں ٮكڡر ٮالله وٮحعل له اٮدادا

And they will keep their regret secret when they see the punishment.

واسروا الٮدامه لما راوا العداٮ

And We will place shackles on the necks of those who disowned:

وحعلٮا الاعلل ڡى اعٮاٯ الدٮں كڡروا

Say, "My Guardian indeed extends provision to whom He wills, and measures it;

ڡل اں رٮى ٮٮسط الررٯ لمں ٮسا وٮڡدر

Say, "My Guardian indeed extends provision to whom He wills among His obedient ones, and measures it for him;

ڡل اں رٮى ٮٮسط الررٯ لمں ٮسا مں عٮاده وٮڡدر له

and whatever you spend of anything, He replaces it,

وما اٮڡڡٮم مں سى ڡهو ٮحلڡه

they will say, "Glory be to You! You are our protector, not them:

ڡالوا سٮحٮك اٮٮ ولٮٮا مں دوٮهم

they were rather obeying the Occulted;

ٮل كاٮوا ٮعٮدوں الحں

And when Our clear signs are recited to them, they say, "This is nothing but a man who wants to bar you from what your ancestors used to obey"; and they say, "This is nothing but an invented distortion."

وادا ٮٮلى علٮهم اٮٮٮا ٮٮٮٮ ڡالوا ما هدا الا رحل ٮرٮد اں ٮصدكم عما كاں ٮعٮد اٮاوكم وڡالوا ما هدا الا اڡك مڡٮرى

And We had not given them any writings that they studied,

وما اٮٮٮهم مں كٮٮ ٮدرسوٮها

And those before them denied — they have not attained a tenth of what We had given them —

وكدٮ الدٮں مں ڡٮلهم وما ٮلعوا معسار ما اٮٮٮهم

and they denied My messengers.

ڡكدٮوا رسلى

Say, "I only exhort you to one thing:

ڡل اٮما اعطكم ٮوحده

that you stand up for God, two by two or one by one, then reflect —

اں ٮڡوموا لله مٮٮى وڡردى ٮم ٮٮڡكروا

your companion has no derangement;

ما ٮصاحٮكم مں حٮه

Say, "Whatever reward I have asked of you, it is for you;

ڡل ما سالٮكم مں احر ڡهو لكم

my reward is incumbent only upon God,

اں احرى الا على الله

Say, "My Guardian indeed hurls the truth,

ڡل اں رٮى ٮڡدڡ ٮالحٯ

Say, "If I stray, I stray only against my own Self; and if I let myself be guided, it is by what my Guardian reveals to me —

ڡل اں صللٮ ڡاٮما اصل على ٮڡسى واں اهٮدٮٮ ڡٮما ٮوحى الى رٮى

But how could they reach, from so distant a place, what they had disowned before?

واٮى لهم الٮٮاوس مں مكاں ٮعٮد وڡد كڡروا ٮه مں ڡٮل
