Core meaning

To reach as far as the heart's envelope: a love that does not stay on the surface and takes hold of the whole being.

Uses

1. شَغَفَهَا حُبًّا → "to captivate with love" : said of the wife of the Powerful One, seized by love for her young man.

   • «قَدْ شَغَفَهَا حُبًّا» — "he has indeed captivated her with love" (12:30)

Evidence from the text

The single use is a judgment passed from outside. The women of the Capital see the wife of the Powerful One "seeking to obtain her young man from himself" and name what drives her to it: a love that has seized her entirely. They add that they see her in manifest error. The word says a hold, not an inclination.
