Bentuk yang tercatat : لُغُوبٌۭ 1 · لُّغُوبٍۢ 1
Core meaning
The exhaustion that follows prolonged effort; the text names it only to deny it.
Uses
لُغُوب → "weariness" : exhaustion after effort, always negated.
Evidence from the text
In 35:35, those lodged in the abode of the station say that no fatigue touches them, nor any weariness: نَصَب, the effort that costs, then لُغُوب, the exhaustion that follows it.
In 50:38, the same negation bears on the creation of the heavens and the earth in six days: none of this exhaustion touched God, and creation called for no rest. Both occurrences name the exhaustion any great effort would lead one to expect, to say that it does not occur.
Distinctions
- نصب — the fatigue of effort; لغب, the exhaustion that results.
- سئم — to grow tired of a thing; لغب, to be exhausted.
