Uses

1. أَلَدُّ, لُّدًّۭا → "fierce" : the one who contends fiercely; a whole people so disposed.

   • «وَهُوَ أَلَدُّ ٱلْخِصَامِ» — "he is the fiercest of quarrelers" (2:204)
   • «وَتُنذِرَ بِهِۦ قَوْمًۭا لُّدًّۭا» — "warn by it a fierce people" (19:97)

Evidence from the text

In 2:204, the man whose saying dazzles "is the fiercest of quarrelers": the word says how he contends, not the quarrel itself. In 19:97, the Recitation is made easy to warn "a fierce people". Both uses say an opposition that does not let go.
