Ad-Dukhan

You Will Relapse

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent.

44:1

Ḥa. Mim.

حم

44:2–3

By the clear Scripture! We indeed sent it down in a blessed night; We are warners.

In it, every wise matter is set apart, a command from Us.

We are indeed senders, a benevolence from your Guardian.

It is indeed He, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing,

the Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you are of those who know with certainty.

There is no deity but Him.

He gives life and causes death,

your Guardian and the Guardian of your earliest forefathers.

44:9

But they play in doubt.

So watch for the day when the sky brings a clear smoke that covers mankind,

this is a painful punishment.

44:12

"Our Guardian, remove the punishment from us; we indeed believe."

44:13–14

How would the reminder benefit them, when a clear messenger had come to them, then they turned their backs on him and said: "One taught, deranged"?

44:15

We will remove the punishment for a little while,

44:15

but you will indeed relapse.

The day We strike the greatest Strike,

We will indeed take vengeance.

44:17–21

Before them, We tried the people of Fir'awn, and a noble messenger came to them: "Hand over to me the obedient ones of God; I am indeed for you a trustworthy messenger; and do not exalt yourselves against God — I bring you manifest authority; and I take refuge in my Guardian and yours against your banishing me; and if you do not give me credit, then keep away from me."

44:22

So he called upon his Guardian: "These are a severed people."

"Set out with My obedient ones by night; you will be pursued. And leave the sea still."

They are indeed an army that will be drowned.

How many gardens and springs they left behind, and crops, and noble stations, and well-being in which they took delight.

Thus.

And We made another people inherit them.

44:29

Neither the sky nor the earth wept over them, and they were granted no reprieve.

We saved the Sons of Israel from the degrading punishment, from Fir'awn.

He was, among the excessive, a haughty one.

We opted for them, knowingly, above all beings, and We gave them, among the signs, that which held a manifest testing.

These surely say: "There is nothing but our first death, and we will not be deployed. Bring back our forefathers, if you are veracious."

Are they better, or the people of Tubba'?

And those before them — We annihilated them.

They were indeed severed.

44:38

We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in play.

44:39

We created them only in truth,

but most of them do not know.

The Day of Separation is indeed the appointed time for them all — a day when no guarantor will be of any use to a guarantor, and they will not be helped, except the one on whom God has benevolence.

He is indeed the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

Indeed, the tree of Zaqqoum is the food of the hardened transgressor; like molten metal, it boils in the bellies as boiling water boils.

44:47–49

"Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Blaze, then pour over his head the punishment of boiling water. Taste!"

"It is indeed you, the mighty, the noble!"

This is indeed what you used to contend about.

Those who guard themselves will indeed be in a secure place, in gardens and springs, wearing fine silk and brocade, facing one another.

Thus.

44:54

And We will unite them with companions of listening and support.

They will call therein for every savoury fruit, secure.

44:56

They will not taste death therein,

44:56

except the first death.

44:57

And He will have protected them from the punishment of the Blaze, as a favor from your Guardian.

That is the immense triumph.

44:58

We have made it easy on your tongue only in the hope that they will remember.

44:59

So watch,

44:59

they are watching.
