   • «وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلْوَىٰ» — "and sent down upon you manna and quails" (2:57)

Evidence from the text

The three uses are one formula, manna and quails, after the shade of the cloud (2:57, 7:160) or the rescue from the enemy (20:80). The gift each time follows a deliverance: it is the food of a people saved and on the move.
