Bentuk yang tercatat : سَٰمِرًۭا 1
Core meaning
To converse by night: the night gathering where people talk among themselves.
Uses
سَٰمِر → "conversing by night" : speech held among oneselves, at night.
- «سَٰمِرًۭا تَهْجُرُونَ» — "conversing by night, you spoke outrageously" (23:67)
Evidence from the text
A single word. The previous verse describes an attitude toward the recited signs: "you stepped back on your heels, growing too proud for them" (23:66). The night gathering is its setting: there, people talk of those signs among themselves. The reading followed, تُهْجِرُونَ, makes this nightly speech an outrage; the reading تَهْجُرُونَ would make it a withdrawal. In both cases, سمر names the nightly setting of speech.
Distinctions
- هجر — outrageous speech or withdrawal, which the night gathering frames
