Forme attestate : أَنتُمَا 1
Core meaning
Independent pronoun of the second person dual: "you two", for two addressees spoken to together.
Uses
أَنتُمَا → "you two" : subject set at the head: the two envoys joined in one promise.
- «أَنتُمَا وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكُمَا ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ» — "you two, and those who follow you, will be the victors" (28:35)
Evidence from the text
The independent form occurs only once, at the end of a verse wholly in the dual. Moussa has asked that his brother go with him; the answer unites them step by step: "We will strengthen your arm through your brother, and We will give you both an authority", they will not be able "to reach you", then comes the detached pronoun: "you two, and those who follow you, will be the victors" (28:35). The dual, first carried by the suffixes, finally stands alone at the head of the sentence: the two men form a single mission.
Distinctions
- انتم — the plural: "you", more than two
