An-Naba

The Immense Information

78:1

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. About what?

They are asking one another about the immense Information, over which they differ.

By no means! They will know. Then, by no means! They will know.

78:6–16

Have We not made the earth a resting place, and the mountains as stakes? Have We not created you in pairs, and made your sleep a rest? Have We not made the night a covering, and the day for livelihood? Have We not built above you seven strong, and placed an incandescent torch? And sent down from those that press out abundant water, that We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation, and intertwined gardens?

Indeed, the Day of Separation is an appointed time — the Day the Horn is blown, and you come in crowds, and the sky is opened and becomes gates, and the mountains are set moving and become a mirage.

78:21–23

Indeed, Jahannam is a lookout post — a place of return for those who exceed all measure, wherein they will remain for prolonged periods.

They will taste therein neither coolness nor drink, except boiling water and a foul, dark fluid — a fitting recompense.

They did not hope for any reckoning, and they denied Our signs with emphatic denial.

78:29

But everything We have enumerated in a record.

So taste! We will only increase you in punishment.

Indeed, for those who guarded themselves is a triumph: enclosed gardens and vineyards, and companions full of vitality, fertile and of shared stock, and a brimming cup. They will hear therein neither idle talk nor lies —

a recompense from your Guardian, an endowment, well accounted,

Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them,

78:37

the All-Benevolent; they possess no right to address Him,

78:38

the Day the Influx and the Agents will stand in ranks, none speaking except one to whom the All-Benevolent has given permission, and who will say what is right.

That is the True Day.

78:39

So whoever wants may take, toward his Guardian, a place of return.

78:40

Indeed, We have warned you of an imminent punishment — the Day when man will observe what his hands have prepared, and the one who disowns will say, "Oh, that I were earth!"
