Al-Ankabut
The Spider
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Alif. Lam. Mim.
ٮسم الله الرحمں الرحٮم الم
Do men think that they will be left, because they say, "We believe," without being put to the trial?
احسٮ الٮاس اں ٮٮركوا اں ٮڡولوا امٮا وهم لا ٮڡٮٮوں
We have indeed put to the trial those who came before them,
ولڡد ڡٮٮا الدٮں مں ڡٮلهم
so that God will surely distinguish those who have spoken truly, and will surely distinguish the liars.
ڡلٮعلمں الله الدٮں صدڡوا ولٮعلمں الكدٮٮں
Or do those who commit evil deeds think that they will outrun Us?
ام حسٮ الدٮں ٮعملوں السٮاٮ اں ٮسٮڡوٮا
How evil is what they decide!
سا ما ٮحكموں
Whoever hopes for the meeting with God — the term set by God will surely come;
مں كاں ٮرحوا لڡا الله ڡاں احل الله لاٮ
and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
وهو السمٮع العلٮم
And whoever strives, strives only for himself,
ومں حهد ڡاٮما ٮحهد لٮڡسه
for God is surely Self-Sufficient, independent of all beings.
اں الله لعٮى عں العلمٮں
And those who have believed and done sound deeds — We will surely cover their bad deeds, and We will surely recompense them according to the best of what they used to do.
والدٮں امٮوا وعملوا الصلحٮ لٮكڡرں عٮهم سٮاٮهم ولٮحرٮٮهم احسں الدى كاٮوا ٮعملوں
And We have enjoined upon the human being fine conduct toward his two parents;
ووصٮٮا الاٮسں ٮولدٮه حسٮا
but if they strive against you to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not defer to them;
واں حهداك لٮسرك ٮى ما لٮس لك ٮه علم ڡلا ٮطعهما
to Me will be your return, and I will then inform you of what you used to do.
الى مرحعكم ڡاٮٮٮكم ٮما كٮٮم ٮعملوں
And those who have believed and done sound deeds — We will surely admit them among those who are sound.
والدٮں امٮوا وعملوا الصلحٮ لٮدحلٮهم ڡى الصلحٮں
And among mankind are some who say, "We believe in God," yet when they are troubled for God's cause, they equate the trial inflicted by men with God's punishment.
ومں الٮاس مں ٮڡول امٮا ٮالله ڡادا اودى ڡى الله حعل ڡٮٮه الٮاس كعداٮ الله
But if help comes from your Guardian, they will surely say, "We were indeed with you."
ولٮں حا ٮصر مں رٮك لٮڡولں اٮا كٮا معكم
Does God not know best what is in the chests of all beings?
اولٮس الله ٮاعلم ٮما ڡى صدور العلمٮں
And God will surely distinguish those who have believed, and will surely distinguish the hypocrites.
ولٮعلمں الله الدٮں امٮوا ولٮعلمں المٮڡڡٮں
And those who disown said to those who believed: "Follow our way, and we will carry your faults" —
وڡال الدٮں كڡروا للدٮں امٮوا اٮٮعوا سٮٮلٮا ولٮحمل حطٮكم
though they will carry nothing of their faults;
وما هم ٮحملٮں مں حطٮهم مں سى
they are surely liars.
اٮهم لكدٮوں
And they will surely carry their own loads, and loads in addition to their loads;
ولٮحملں اٮڡالهم واٮڡالا مع اٮڡالهم
and they will surely be questioned, on the Day of Appearance, about what they used to invent.
ولٮسلں ٮوم الڡٮمه عما كاٮوا ٮڡٮروں
We indeed sent Nuh to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years, less fifty conventional years, then the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.
ولڡد ارسلٮا ٮوحا الى ڡومه ڡلٮٮ ڡٮهم الڡ سٮه الا حمسٮں عاما ڡاحدهم الطوڡاں وهم طلموں
We saved him, along with the companions of the boat,
ڡاٮحٮٮه واصحٮ السڡٮٮه
and We made it a sign for all beings.
وحعلٮها اٮه للعلمٮں
And Ibrahim, when he said to his people: "Obey God and guard yourselves toward Him;
واٮرهٮم اد ڡال لڡومه اعٮدوا الله واٮڡوه
that is better for you, if you knew.
دلكم حٮر لكم اں كٮٮم ٮعلموں
You obey, besides God, only idols, and you create a distortion;
اٮما ٮعٮدوں مں دوں الله اوٮٮا وٮحلڡوں اڡكا
those you obey besides God indeed possess no provision for you —
اں الدٮں ٮعٮدوں مں دوں الله لا ٮملكوں لكم ررڡا
so seek provision with God,
ڡاٮٮعوا عٮد الله الررٯ
obey Him,
واعٮدوه
and be grateful to Him;
واسكروا له
to Him you will be returned.
الٮه ٮرحعوں
And if you deny, communities before you have already denied;
واں ٮكدٮوا ڡڡد كدٮ امم مں ڡٮلكم
and only the clear transmission is incumbent upon the messenger."
وما على الرسول الا الٮلع المٮٮں
Do they not see how God begins creation,
اولم ٮروا كٮڡ ٮٮدى الله الحلٯ
then remakes it?
ٮم ٮعٮده
That is indeed easy for God.
اں دلك على الله ٮسٮر
Say: "Travel through the earth and see how He began creation;
ڡل سٮروا ڡى الارص ڡاٮطروا كٮڡ ٮدا الحلٯ
then God will bring into being the ultimate genesis;
ٮم الله ٮٮسى الٮساه الاحره
God is indeed capable of all things."
اں الله على كل سى ڡدٮر
He punishes whom He wills and shows benevolence to whom He wills;
ٮعدٮ مں ٮسا وٮرحم مں ٮسا
and to Him you will be turned back.
والٮه ٮڡلٮوں
You cannot render Him powerless, neither on earth nor in the sky;
وما اٮٮم ٮمعحرٮں ڡى الارص ولا ڡى السما
and you have, besides God, neither protector nor help.
وما لكم مں دوں الله مں ولى ولا ٮصٮر
And those who disown the signs of God and the meeting with Him — those have lost hope of My benevolence,
والدٮں كڡروا ٮاٮٮ الله ولڡاٮه اولٮك ٮٮسوا مں رحمٮى
and those will have a painful punishment.
واولٮك لهم عداٮ الٮم
The only answer of his people was to say: "Kill him, or burn him!"
ڡما كاں حواٮ ڡومه الا اں ڡالوا اڡٮلوه او حرڡوه
But God saved him from the fire;
ڡاٮحٮه الله مں الٮار
there are surely in that signs for a people who believe.
اں ڡى دلك لاٮٮ لڡوم ٮومٮوں
And he said: "You have taken idols, besides God, only out of mutual affection among yourselves in the present life;
وڡال اٮما اٮحدٮم مں دوں الله اوٮٮا موده ٮٮٮكم ڡى الحٮوه الدٮٮا
then, on the Day of Appearance, you will disown one another and curse one another,
ٮم ٮوم الڡٮمه ٮكڡر ٮعصكم ٮٮعص وٮلعں ٮعصكم ٮعصا
and your refuge is the Fire, and you will have no help."
وماوٮكم الٮار وما لكم مں ٮصرٮں
Lut gave him credit,
ڡامں له لوط
and he said: "I am emigrating toward my Guardian;
وڡال اٮى مهاحر الى رٮى
He is indeed the All-Powerful, the Wise."
اٮه هو العرٮر الحكٮم
And We bestowed on him Ishaq and Yaacoub,
ووهٮٮا له اسحٯ وٮعڡوٮ
and We placed among his descendants the charge of informing and the Scripture;
وحعلٮا ڡى درٮٮه الٮٮوه والكٮٮ
and We gave him his reward in the present life,
واٮٮٮه احره ڡى الدٮٮا
and in the last life, he will surely be among those who are sound.
واٮه ڡى الاحره لمں الصلحٮں
And Lut, when he said to his people: "You surely commit indecency in which no one among all beings has raced ahead of you; do you really come to men, cut off the road, and commit, in your circles, what is disavowed?"
ولوطا اد ڡال لڡومه اٮكم لٮاٮوں الڡحسه ما سٮڡكم ٮها مں احد مں العلمٮں اٮٮكم لٮاٮوں الرحال وٮڡطعوں السٮٮل وٮاٮوں ڡى ٮادٮكم المٮكر
The only answer of his people was to say: "Bring us God's punishment, if you are among the veracious!"
ڡما كاں حواٮ ڡومه الا اں ڡالوا اٮٮٮا ٮعداٮ الله اں كٮٮ مں الصدڡٮں
He said: "My Guardian, help me against the people of corrupters."
ڡال رٮ اٮصرٮى على الڡوم المڡسدٮں
When Our messengers came to Ibrahim with the good tidings, they said: "We are indeed going to annihilate the people of this city; its people are wrongdoers."
ولما حاٮ رسلٮا اٮرهٮم ٮالٮسرى ڡالوا اٮا مهلكوا اهل هده الڡرٮه اں اهلها كاٮوا طلمٮں
He said: "Lut is indeed there."
ڡال اں ڡٮها لوطا
They said: "We know best who is there;
ڡالوا ٮحں اعلم ٮمں ڡٮها
we will surely save him and his household, except his wife, who will be among those who linger behind."
لٮٮحٮٮه واهله الا امراٮه كاٮٮ مں العٮرٮں
When Our messengers came to Lut, their coming vexed him and he felt helpless on their account;
ولما اں حاٮ رسلٮا لوطا سى ٮهم وصاٯ ٮهم درعا
and they said: "Do not fear and do not grieve; we will save you and your household, except your wife, who will be among those who linger behind.
وڡالوا لا ٮحڡ ولا ٮحرں اٮا مٮحوك واهلك الا امراٮك كاٮٮ مں العٮرٮں
We will indeed bring down upon the people of this city a defilement from the sky, for their overstepping."
اٮا مٮرلوں على اهل هده الڡرٮه رحرا مں السما ٮما كاٮوا ٮڡسڡوں
We indeed left of it a clear sign, for a people who reason.
ولڡد ٮركٮا مٮها اٮه ٮٮٮه لڡوم ٮعڡلوں
And to Madyan, their brother Shu'ayb; he said: "O my people! Obey God, hope for the Last Day, and do not spread disorder on the earth as corrupters."
والى مدٮں احاهم سعٮٮا ڡڡال ٮڡوم اعٮدوا الله وارحوا الٮوم الاحر ولا ٮعٮوا ڡى الارص مڡسدٮں
They denied him; then the tremor seized them, and they found themselves, in their abode, lying, still.
ڡكدٮوه ڡاحدٮهم الرحڡه ڡاصٮحوا ڡى دارهم حٮمٮں
And the Aad and the Thamud — this has become clear to you through their dwellings; the Diverter had embellished their works for them, and thus barred them from the way, though they had clear sight.
وعادا وٮمودا وڡد ٮٮٮں لكم مں مسكٮهم ورٮں لهم السٮطں اعملهم ڡصدهم عں السٮٮل وكاٮوا مسٮٮصرٮں
And Qaroon, Fir'awn, and Haman —
وڡروں وڡرعوں وهمں
Moussa had indeed come to them with clear proofs, but they grew proud in the land, unable to outrun Us.
ولڡد حاهم موسى ٮالٮٮٮٮ ڡاسٮكٮروا ڡى الارص وما كاٮوا سٮڡٮں
Each of them We seized for his offense;
ڡكلا احدٮا ٮدٮٮه
upon some of them We sent a storm of stones,
ڡمٮهم مں ارسلٮا علٮه حاصٮا
some were seized by the Cry,
ومٮهم مں احدٮه الصٮحه
some We caused the earth to swallow,
ومٮهم مں حسڡٮا ٮه الارص
and still others We drowned.
ومٮهم مں اعرڡٮا
God was not going to wrong them;
وما كاں الله لٮطلمهم
but it was themselves that they wronged.
ولكں كاٮوا اٮڡسهم ٮطلموں
The example of those who take, besides God, allies, is that of the spider that takes for itself a house;
مٮل الدٮں اٮحدوا مں دوں الله اولٮا كمٮل العٮكٮوٮ اٮحدٮ ٮٮٮا
and the flimsiest of houses is surely the house of the spider — if only they knew.
واں اوهں الٮٮوٮ لٮٮٮ العٮكٮوٮ لو كاٮوا ٮعلموں
God indeed knows all that they invoke besides Him;
اں الله ٮعلم ما ٮدعوں مں دوٮه مں سى
and He is the All-Powerful, the Wise.
وهو العرٮر الحكٮم
And these are the examples We multiply for mankind,
وٮلك الامٮل ٮصرٮها للٮاس
but only those with knowledge grasp them with reason.
وما ٮعڡلها الا العلموں
God created the heavens and the earth in truth;
حلٯ الله السموٮ والارص ٮالحٯ
there is surely in that a sign for the believers.
اں ڡى دلك لاٮه للمومٮٮں
Recite what has been revealed to you of the Scripture, and maintain the Contact;
اٮل ما اوحى الٮك مں الكٮٮ واڡم الصلوه
the Contact forbids indecency and what is disavowed;
اں الصلوه ٮٮهى عں الڡحسا والمٮكر
and the remembrance of God is greater still;
ولدكر الله اكٮر
God knows what you do.
والله ٮعلم ما ٮصٮعوں
And do not argue with the people of the Scripture except in the best way,
ولا ٮحدلوا اهل الكٮٮ الا ٮالٮى هى احسں
except with those of them who do wrong;
الا الدٮں طلموا مٮهم
and say: "We believe in what has been sent down to us and what has been sent down to you; our deity and your deity is one, and to Him we are true."
وڡولوا امٮا ٮالدى اٮرل الٮٮا واٮرل الٮكم والهٮا والهكم وحد وٮحں له مسلموں
Thus have We sent down the Scripture to you;
وكدلك اٮرلٮا الٮك الكٮٮ
those to whom We gave the Scripture believe in it, and among these here, some believe in it too;
ڡالدٮں اٮٮٮهم الكٮٮ ٮومٮوں ٮه ومں هولا مں ٮومں ٮه
only those who disown stubbornly reject Our signs.
وما ٮححد ٮاٮٮٮا الا الكڡروں
You did not recite, before it, any scripture, nor did you trace one with your right hand;
وما كٮٮ ٮٮلوا مں ڡٮله مں كٮٮ ولا ٮحطه ٮٮمٮٮك
otherwise, the workers of falsehood would have had doubts.
ادا لارٮاٮ المٮطلوں
Rather, it is clear signs in the chests of those to whom knowledge has been given;
ٮل هو اٮٮ ٮٮٮٮ ڡى صدور الدٮں اوٮوا العلم
only the wrongdoers stubbornly reject Our signs.
وما ٮححد ٮاٮٮٮا الا الطلموں
And they said: "Why were signs not sent down to him from his Guardian?"
وڡالوا لولا اٮرل علٮه اٮٮ مں رٮه
Say: "The signs are only with God, and I am only a clear warner."
ڡل اٮما الاٮٮ عٮد الله واٮما اٮا ٮدٮر مٮٮں
Is it not enough for them that We have sent down to you the Scripture, which is recited to them?
اولم ٮكڡهم اٮا اٮرلٮا علٮك الكٮٮ ٮٮلى علٮهم
There is surely a benevolence and a reminder in that for a people who believe.
اں ڡى دلك لرحمه ودكرى لڡوم ٮومٮوں
Say: "God suffices as a witness between me and you;
ڡل كڡى ٮالله ٮٮٮى وٮٮٮكم سهٮدا
He knows what is in the heavens and the earth;
ٮعلم ما ڡى السموٮ والارص
and those who believe in falsehood and disown God — those are the losers."
والدٮں امٮوا ٮالٮطل وكڡروا ٮالله اولٮك هم الحسروں
And they ask you to hasten the punishment;
وٮسٮعحلوٮك ٮالعداٮ
and were it not for an appointed term, the punishment would already have come to them — it will surely come to them unexpectedly, without their sensing it.
ولولا احل مسمى لحاهم العداٮ ولٮاٮٮٮهم ٮعٮه وهم لا ٮسعروں
They ask you to hasten the punishment,
ٮسٮعحلوٮك ٮالعداٮ
and Jahannam surely encompasses those who disown.
واں حهٮم لمحٮطه ٮالكڡرٮں
The day the punishment covers them from above and from beneath their feet, and We say: "Taste what you used to do."
ٮوم ٮعسٮهم العداٮ مں ڡوڡهم ومں ٮحٮ ارحلهم وٮڡول دوڡوا ما كٮٮم ٮعملوں
"O My obedient ones who have believed, My earth is vast; so it is Me that you must obey."
ٮعٮادى الدٮں امٮوا اں ارصى وسعه ڡاٮى ڡاعٮدوں
Every Self will taste death,
كل ٮڡس داٮڡه الموٮ
then to Us you will be returned.
ٮم الٮٮا ٮرحعوں
And those who have believed and done sound deeds — We will surely settle them in high chambers of the Garden, beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein eternally;
والدٮں امٮوا وعملوا الصلحٮ لٮٮوٮٮهم مں الحٮه عرڡا ٮحرى مں ٮحٮها الاٮهر حلدٮں ڡٮها
what an excellent reward for those who work,
ٮعم احر العملٮں
those who were patient and who entrust themselves to their Guardian.
الدٮں صٮروا وعلى رٮهم ٮٮوكلوں
How many a living being does not carry its own provision! It is God who provides for it, and for you along with it;
وكاٮں مں داٮه لا ٮحمل ررڡها الله ٮررڡها واٮاكم
and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
وهو السمٮع العلٮم
And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon, they will surely say: "God";
ولٮں سالٮهم مں حلٯ السموٮ والارص وسحر السمس والڡمر لٮڡولں الله
how then are they turned away?
ڡاٮى ٮوڡكوں
God extends provision to whom He wills among His obedient ones, and measures it for him;
الله ٮٮسط الررٯ لمں ٮسا مں عٮاده وٮڡدر له
God is indeed All-Knowing of all things.
اں الله ٮكل سى علٮم
And if you ask them who sends down water from the sky and by it brings the earth back to life after its death, they will surely say: "God";
ولٮں سالٮهم مں ٮرل مں السما ما ڡاحٮا ٮه الارص مں ٮعد موٮها لٮڡولں الله
say: "Praise be to God!"
ڡل الحمد لله
But most of them do not reason.
ٮل اكٮرهم لا ٮعڡلوں
This present life is nothing but distraction and play;
وما هده الحٮوه الدٮٮا الا لهو ولعٮ
and the last abode, that is surely the true life — if only they knew.
واں الدار الاحره لهى الحٮواں لو كاٮوا ٮعلموں
When they board the vessel, they call upon God, devoting the Law exclusively to Him;
ڡادا ركٮوا ڡى الڡلك دعوا الله محلصٮں له الدٮں
but when He brings them safely to dry land, there they are, associating, so as to disown what We have given them,
ڡلما ٮحٮهم الى الٮر ادا هم ٮسركوں لٮكڡروا ٮما اٮٮٮهم
let them enjoy, then: they will soon know.
ولٮٮمٮعوا ڡسوڡ ٮعلموں
Do they not see that We have placed an inviolable and secure precinct, while all around them men are being snatched away?
اولم ٮروا اٮا حعلٮا حرما امٮا وٮٮحطڡ الٮاس مں حولهم
Do they then believe in falsehood, and disown the blessing of God?
اڡٮالٮطل ٮومٮوں وٮٮعمه الله ٮكڡروں
And who does more wrong than one who invents a lie against God, or denies the truth once it has come to him?
ومں اطلم ممں اڡٮرى على الله كدٮا او كدٮ ٮالحٯ لما حاه
Is there not, in Jahannam, a sojourn for those who disown?
الٮس ڡى حهٮم مٮوى للكڡرٮں
And those who have striven for Us — We will surely guide them on Our ways;
والدٮں حهدوا ڡٮٮا لٮهدٮٮهم سٮلٮا
and God is surely with those who do good.
واں الله لمع المحسٮٮں
