جودى

Core meaning

Proper noun of a high place: the one where Nuh's vessel comes to rest when the water withdraws. The translation writes the name alone: "al-Judi".

Evidence from the text

The name occurs only once, as the last word of the account of the flood: the water withdraws, the matter is decided, and the vessel comes to rest on al-Judi (11:44). The text says nothing more of it; it makes it the place where the trial ends and where the vessel finds stable support.
