Al-Jumu'a
The Day of Gathering
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent.
Whatever is in the heavens and on the earth glorifies God, the Sovereign, the Most Holy, the All-Powerful, the Wise.
يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْمَلِكِ ٱلْقُدُّوسِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
It is He who raised among the people without a prior Scripture a messenger from among themselves, reciting to them His signs, purifying them, and teaching them the Scripture and wisdom, although they were before in manifest error — and others among them who have not yet joined them.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى بَعَثَ فِى ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ رَسُولًۭا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ وَءَاخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا۟ بِهِمْ
And He is the All-Powerful, the Wise.
وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
That is the favor of God, which He grants to whom He wills.
ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ
And God holds the immense favor.
وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
The example of those who were entrusted with the Tawrah, and then did not carry it, is that of the donkey carrying books.
مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ حُمِّلُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَحْمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ ٱلْحِمَارِ يَحْمِلُ أَسْفَارًۢا
What a detestable example is that of the people who denied the signs of God!
بِئْسَ مَثَلُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ
And God does not guide the wrongdoing people.
وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
Say: "O you, the Reoriented! If you claim that you are the allies of God, excluding other men, then wish for death, if you are veracious."
قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوٓا۟ إِن زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ لِلَّهِ مِن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا۟ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
But they will never wish for it, because of what their hands have prepared.
وَلَا يَتَمَنَّوْنَهُۥٓ أَبَدًۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ
And God is All-Knowing of the wrongdoers.
وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
Say: "The death from which you flee will indeed meet you; then you will be brought back to the Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do."
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْمَوْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَفِرُّونَ مِنْهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ مُلَٰقِيكُمْ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
O you who have believed! When the call is made for the Contact, on this day of reunion, hurry to the remembrance of God and forsake selling.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نُودِىَ لِلصَّلَوٰةِ مِن يَوْمِ ٱلْجُمُعَةِ فَٱسْعَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ وَذَرُوا۟ ٱلْبَيْعَ
That is better for you, if you knew.
ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
Then when the Contact is concluded, deploy within the land and seek from the favor of God, and remember God often, perhaps you will succeed.
فَإِذَا قُضِيَتِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةُ فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
But when they see a trade or a distraction, they disperse toward it and leave you standing.
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ تِجَٰرَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟ إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَآئِمًۭا
Say: "What is with God is better than distraction and than trade.
قُلْ مَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ ٱلتِّجَٰرَةِ
And God is the best of providers."
وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
