Ash-Shu'ara

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Ṭa. Sin. Mim.

ٮسم الله الرحمں الرحٮم طسم

These are the signs of the explicit Scripture.

ٮلك اٮٮ الكٮٮ المٮٮں

Perhaps you will consume yourself because they are not believers.

لعلك ٮحع ٮڡسك الا ٮكوٮوا مومٮٮں

If We willed, We could send down upon them a sign from the sky before which their necks would stay bent.

اں ٮسا ٮٮرل علٮهم مں السما اٮه ڡطلٮ اعٮڡهم لها حصعٮں

And no recent reminder comes to them from the All-Benevolent without their turning away from it.

وما ٮاٮٮهم مں دكر مں الرحمں محدٮ الا كاٮوا عٮه معرصٮں

Yet they have denied; the information of what they used to mock will soon reach them.

ڡڡد كدٮوا ڡسٮاٮٮهم اٮٮوا ما كاٮوا ٮه ٮسٮهروں

Have they not seen the earth, how much We have made grow in it of every generous pair?

اولم ٮروا الى الارص كم اٮٮٮٮا ڡٮها مں كل روح كرٮم

But most of them are not believers.

وما كاں اكٮرهم مومٮٮں

And your Guardian is surely the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

واں رٮك لهو العرٮر الرحٮم

Will they not guard themselves?"

الا ٮٮڡوں

He said: "My Guardian, I fear they will deny me; and my chest tightens, and my tongue does not loosen: so send to Harun. They hold an offense against me, and I fear they will kill me."

ڡال رٮ اٮى احاڡ اں ٮكدٮوں وٮصٮٯ صدرى ولا ٮٮطلٯ لساٮى ڡارسل الى هروں ولهم على دٮٮ ڡاحاڡ اں ٮڡٮلوں

Go, both of you, with Our signs; We are indeed with you, listening.

ڡادهٮا ٮاٮٮٮا اٮا معكم مسٮمعوں

Go then to Fir'awn and say: 'We are indeed the messengers of the Guardian of all beings; let the Sons of Israel go with us.'"

ڡاٮٮا ڡرعوں ڡڡولا اٮا رسول رٮ العلمٮں اں ارسل معٮا ٮٮى اسرٮل

He said: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child, and did you not remain among us for years of your life? You committed the act you committed, and you are among those who disown."

ڡال الم ٮرٮك ڡٮٮا ولٮدا ولٮٮٮ ڡٮٮا مں عمرك سٮٮں وڡعلٮ ڡعلٮك الٮى ڡعلٮ واٮٮ مں الكڡرٮں

He said: "I did it then, while I was among the astray.

ڡال ڡعلٮها ادا واٮا مں الصالٮں

So I fled from you when I feared you; then my Guardian bestowed on me judgment and made me one of the envoys.

ڡڡررٮ مٮكم لما حڡٮكم ڡوهٮ لى رٮى حكما وحعلٮى مں المرسلٮں

And this blessing with which you think you grace me is that you enslaved the Sons of Israel!"

وٮلك ٮعمه ٮمٮها على اں عٮدٮ ٮٮى اسرٮل

Fir'awn said: "And what is the Guardian of all beings?"

ڡال ڡرعوں وما رٮ العلمٮں

He said: "The Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you are of those who know with certainty."

ڡال رٮ السموٮ والارص وما ٮٮٮهما اں كٮٮم موڡٮٮں

He said to those around him: "Do you not listen?"

ڡال لمں حوله الا ٮسٮمعوں

He said: "Your Guardian and the Guardian of your earliest forefathers."

ڡال رٮكم ورٮ اٮاٮكم الاولٮں

He said: "Your messenger who has been sent to you is surely deranged."

ڡال اں رسولكم الدى ارسل الٮكم لمحٮوں

He said: "The Guardian of the east and the west and what is between them, if you would reason."

ڡال رٮ المسرٯ والمعرٮ وما ٮٮٮهما اں كٮٮم ٮعڡلوں

He said: "If you take a deity other than me, I will certainly put you among the imprisoned."

ڡال لٮں اٮحدٮ الها عٮرى لاحعلٮك مں المسحوٮٮں

He said: "Even if I brought you something explicit?"

ڡال اولو حٮٮك ٮسى مٮٮں

He said: "Bring it then, if you are among the veracious."

ڡال ڡاٮ ٮه اں كٮٮ مں الصدڡٮں

He then threw down his staff, and behold, it was a manifest serpent; and he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to those who looked.

ڡالڡى عصاه ڡادا هى ٮعٮاں مٮٮں وٮرع ٮده ڡادا هى ٮٮصا للٮطرٮں

He said to the court around him: "This one is surely a knowing worker of illusion, who wants to drive you out of your land by his illusion. What then do you advise?"

ڡال للملا حوله اں هدا لسحر علٮم ٮرٮد اں ٮحرحكم مں ارصكم ٮسحره ڡمادا ٮامروں

They said: "Put him off, him and his brother, and raise up gatherers into the capitals, who will bring you every great, knowing worker of illusion."

ڡالوا ارحه واحاه واٮعٮ ڡى المداٮں حسرٮں ٮاٮوك ٮكل سحار علٮم

The workers of illusion were brought together for the appointed time of a known day.

ڡحمع السحره لمٮڡٮ ٮوم معلوم

And it was said to the people: "Will you come together, in the hope that we may follow the workers of illusion, if they are the victors?"

وڡٮل للٮاس هل اٮٮم محٮمعوں لعلٮا ٮٮٮع السحره اں كاٮوا هم العلٮٮں

When the workers of illusion came, they said to Fir'awn: "Will there really be a reward for us, if we are the victors?"

ڡلما حا السحره ڡالوا لڡرعوں اٮں لٮا لاحرا اں كٮا ٮحں العلٮٮں

He said: "Yes, and you will then surely be among those brought near."

ڡال ٮعم واٮكم ادا لمں المڡرٮٮں

Moussa said to them: "Throw what you have to throw."

ڡال لهم موسى الڡوا ما اٮٮم ملڡوں

So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said: "By the might of Fir'awn, it is we, surely, who will be the victors!"

ڡالڡوا حٮالهم وعصٮهم وڡالوا ٮعره ڡرعوں اٮا لٮحں العلٮوں

Then Moussa threw his staff, and behold, it snapped up what they distorted.

ڡالڡى موسى عصاه ڡادا هى ٮلڡڡ ما ٮاڡكوں

The workers of illusion were then cast down, prostrate.

ڡالڡى السحره سحدٮں

They said: "We believe in the Guardian of all beings, the Guardian of Moussa and Harun."

ڡالوا امٮا ٮرٮ العلمٮں رٮ موسى وهروں

I will certainly cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will certainly crucify you all together."

لاڡطعں اٮدٮكم وارحلكم مں حلڡ ولاصلٮٮكم احمعٮں

It is to our Guardian that we turn.

اٮا الى رٮٮا مٮڡلٮوں

We long for our Guardian to forgive us our faults, since we are the first of the believers."

اٮا ٮطمع اں ٮعڡر لٮا رٮٮا حطٮٮا اں كٮا اول المومٮٮں

And We revealed to Moussa: "Set out by night with My obedient ones; you will be pursued."

واوحٮٮا الى موسى اں اسر ٮعٮادى اٮكم مٮٮعوں

Fir'awn then sent gatherers into the capitals:

ڡارسل ڡرعوں ڡى المداٮں حسرٮں

"These are surely a small band, and they surely enrage us, and we are surely, all together, a vigilant force."

اں هولا لسردمه ڡلٮلوں واٮهم لٮا لعاٮطوں واٮا لحمٮع حدروں

So We brought them out of gardens and springs, and treasures and a noble station.

ڡاحرحٮهم مں حٮٮ وعٮوں وكٮور ومڡام كرٮم

Thus.

كدلك

And We made the Sons of Israel inherit them, and they pursued them at daybreak.

واورٮٮها ٮٮى اسرٮل ڡاٮٮعوهم مسرڡٮں

And when the two forces saw each other, the companions of Moussa said: "We are surely overtaken!"

ڡلما ٮرا الحمعاں ڡال اصحٮ موسى اٮا لمدركوں

My Guardian is indeed with me; He will guide me."

اں معى رٮى سٮهدٮں

We then revealed to Moussa: "Strike the sea with your staff." It split, and each part was like a mighty peak.

ڡاوحٮٮا الى موسى اں اصرٮ ٮعصاك الٮحر ڡاٮڡلٯ ڡكاں كل ڡرٯ كالطود العطٮم

And We brought the others close there.

وارلڡٮا ٮم الاحرٮں

And We saved Moussa and all those with him, then We drowned the others.

واٮحٮٮا موسى ومں معه احمعٮں ٮم اعرڡٮا الاحرٮں

But most of them are not believers.

وما كاں اكٮرهم مومٮٮں

And your Guardian is surely the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

واں رٮك لهو العرٮر الرحٮم

And recite to them the information concerning Ibrahim, when he said to his father and his people: "What do you obey?"

واٮل علٮهم ٮٮا اٮرهٮم اد ڡال لاٮٮه وڡومه ما ٮعٮدوں

They said: "We obey idols, and we stay posted by them."

ڡالوا ٮعٮد اصٮاما ڡٮطل لها عكڡٮں

He said: "Do they hear you when you call upon them, or do they benefit you, or do they harm you?"

ڡال هل ٮسمعوٮكم اد ٮدعوں او ٮٮڡعوٮكم او ٮصروں

They said: "No, but we found our ancestors acting thus."

ڡالوا ٮل وحدٮا اٮاٮا كدلك ٮڡعلوں

He said: "Have you then seen what you used to obey, you and your most distant forefathers? They are indeed enemies to me,

ڡال اڡرٮٮم ما كٮٮم ٮعٮدوں اٮٮم واٮاوكم الاڡدموں ڡاٮهم عدو لى

except the Guardian of all beings, the one who created me and who guides me,

الا رٮ العلمٮں الدى حلڡٮى ڡهو ٮهدٮں

and the one who feeds me and gives me drink, and who, when I am ill, heals me,

والدى هو ٮطعمٮى وٮسڡٮں وادا مرصٮ ڡهو ٮسڡٮں

and the one who will cause me to die then bring me back to life,

والدى ٮمٮٮٮى ٮم ٮحٮٮں

and the one from whom I long for forgiveness for my fault on the Day of the Due.

والدى اطمع اں ٮعڡر لى حطٮٮى ٮوم الدٮں

My Guardian, bestow on me judgment and join me with those who are sound,

رٮ هٮ لى حكما والحڡٮى ٮالصلحٮں

and grant me a tongue of veracity among those who come after,

واحعل لى لساں صدٯ ڡى الاحرٮں

and make me one of the heirs of the garden of bliss,

واحعلٮى مں ورٮه حٮه الٮعٮم

and forgive my father, for he was among the astray,

واعڡر لاٮى اٮه كاں مں الصالٮں

and do not disgrace me on the day they are raised, the day when neither goods nor sons will be of use, except to one who comes to God with an intact core."

ولا ٮحرٮى ٮوم ٮٮعٮوں ٮوم لا ٮٮڡع مال ولا ٮٮوں الا مں اٮى الله ٮڡلٮ سلٮم

And the Garden will be brought near to those who guard themselves,

وارلڡٮ الحٮه للمٮڡٮں

and the Blaze will be shown to the errant.

وٮررٮ الححٮم للعاوٮں

do they help you, or do they help themselves?"

هل ٮٮصروٮكم او ٮٮٮصروں

They will be flung into it, they, the errant, and the armies of Iblis, all together.

ڡكٮكٮوا ڡٮها هم والعاوں وحٮود اٮلٮس احمعوں

They will say, quarreling there: "By God, we were indeed in manifest error, when we set you on the same level as the Guardian of all beings.

ڡالوا وهم ڡٮها ٮحٮصموں ٮالله اں كٮا لڡى صلل مٮٮں اد ٮسوٮكم ٮرٮ العلمٮں

And it was only the severed who led us astray.

وما اصلٮا الا المحرموں

So we have neither intercessors, nor a warm friend.

ڡما لٮا مں سڡعٮں ولا صدٮٯ حمٮم

If only we had a return, we would be among the believers!"

ڡلو اں لٮا كره ڡٮكوں مں المومٮٮں

But most of them are not believers.

وما كاں اكٮرهم مومٮٮں

And your Guardian is surely the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

واں رٮك لهو العرٮر الرحٮم

The people of Nuh denied the envoys, when their brother Nuh said to them: "Will you not guard yourselves? I am indeed for you a trustworthy messenger.

كدٮٮ ڡوم ٮوح المرسلٮں اد ڡال لهم احوهم ٮوح الا ٮٮڡوں اٮى لكم رسول امٮں

So guard yourselves toward God and defer to me.

ڡاٮڡوا الله واطٮعوں

my reward is incumbent only upon the Guardian of all beings.

اں احرى الا على رٮ العلمٮں

So guard yourselves toward God and defer to me."

ڡاٮڡوا الله واطٮعوں

They said: "Shall we give you credit while it is the lowliest who have followed you?"

ڡالوا اٮومں لك واٮٮعك الاردلوں

He said: "What do I know of what they used to do?

ڡال وما علمى ٮما كاٮوا ٮعملوں

Their account is due only to my Guardian, if only you could sense it.

اں حساٮهم الا على رٮى لو ٮسعروں

And I am not one to chase away the believers; I am only an explicit warner."

وما اٮا ٮطارد المومٮٮں اں اٮا الا ٮدٮر مٮٮں

They said: "If you do not stop, O Nuh, you will certainly be among the banished."

ڡالوا لٮں لم ٮٮٮه ٮٮوح لٮكوٮں مں المرحومٮں

He said: "My Guardian, my people have indeed denied me. Open then between me and them an opening, and save me and those of the believers who are with me."

ڡال رٮ اں ڡومى كدٮوں ڡاڡٮح ٮٮٮى وٮٮٮهم ڡٮحا وٮحٮى ومں معى مں المومٮٮں

So We saved him and those with him, in the laden vessel.

ڡاٮحٮٮه ومں معه ڡى الڡلك المسحوں

Then We drowned afterward those who remained.

ٮم اعرڡٮا ٮعد الٮاڡٮں

But most of them are not believers.

وما كاں اكٮرهم مومٮٮں

And your Guardian is surely the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

واں رٮك لهو العرٮر الرحٮم

The Aad denied the envoys, when their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not guard yourselves? I am indeed for you a trustworthy messenger.

كدٮٮ عاد المرسلٮں اد ڡال لهم احوهم هود الا ٮٮڡوں اٮى لكم رسول امٮں

So guard yourselves toward God and defer to me.

ڡاٮڡوا الله واطٮعوں

my reward is incumbent only upon the Guardian of all beings.

اں احرى الا على رٮ العلمٮں

Do you build on every hill a sign, in play, and take for yourselves factories in hope of abiding eternally, and when you grip, you grip as tyrants?

اٮٮٮوں ٮكل رٮع اٮه ٮعٮٮوں وٮٮحدوں مصاٮع لعلكم ٮحلدوں وادا ٮطسٮم ٮطسٮم حٮارٮں

So guard yourselves toward God and defer to me.

ڡاٮڡوا الله واطٮعوں

And guard yourselves before the One who has provided you with what you know: He has provided you with cattle, sons, gardens and springs.

واٮڡوا الدى امدكم ٮما ٮعلموں امدكم ٮاٮعم وٮٮٮں وحٮٮ وعٮوں

I indeed fear for you the punishment of an immense day."

اٮى احاڡ علٮكم عداٮ ٮوم عطٮم

They said: "It is the same to us whether you exhort or are not among those who exhort; this is only the character of the ancients, and we shall not be punished."

ڡالوا سوا علٮٮا اوعطٮ ام لم ٮكں مں الوعطٮں اں هدا الا حلٯ الاولٮں وما ٮحں ٮمعدٮٮں

But most of them are not believers.

وما كاں اكٮرهم مومٮٮں

And your Guardian is surely the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

واں رٮك لهو العرٮر الرحٮم

The Thamud denied the envoys, when their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not guard yourselves? I am indeed for you a trustworthy messenger.

كدٮٮ ٮمود المرسلٮں اد ڡال لهم احوهم صلح الا ٮٮڡوں اٮى لكم رسول امٮں

So guard yourselves toward God and defer to me.

ڡاٮڡوا الله واطٮعوں

my reward is incumbent only upon the Guardian of all beings.

اں احرى الا على رٮ العلمٮں

Will you be left secure here, amid gardens and springs, and crops and date-palms with melting spathes, while you carve houses out of the mountains, skilled and expert?

اٮٮركوں ڡى ما ههٮا امٮٮں ڡى حٮٮ وعٮوں ورروع وٮحل طلعها هصٮم وٮٮحٮوں مں الحٮال ٮٮوٮا ڡرهٮں

So guard yourselves toward God and defer to me.

ڡاٮڡوا الله واطٮعوں

And do not defer to the command of the excessive, who sow corruption on the earth and make nothing sound."

ولا ٮطٮعوا امر المسرڡٮں الدٮں ٮڡسدوں ڡى الارص ولا ٮصلحوں

They said: "You are only among those abused by illusion; you are only a human like us; bring then a sign, if you are among the veracious."

ڡالوا اٮما اٮٮ مں المسحرٮں ما اٮٮ الا ٮسر مٮلٮا ڡاٮ ٮاٮه اں كٮٮ مں الصدڡٮں

and you have a turn to drink on a known day.

ولكم سرٮ ٮوم معلوم

And touch her with no evil, or the punishment of an immense day will seize you."

ولا ٮمسوها ٮسو ڡٮاحدكم عداٮ ٮوم عطٮم

But most of them are not believers.

وما كاں اكٮرهم مومٮٮں

And your Guardian is surely the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

واں رٮك لهو العرٮر الرحٮم

The people of Lut denied the envoys, when their brother Lut said to them: "Will you not guard yourselves? I am indeed for you a trustworthy messenger.

كدٮٮ ڡوم لوط المرسلٮں اد ڡال لهم احوهم لوط الا ٮٮڡوں اٮى لكم رسول امٮں

So guard yourselves toward God and defer to me.

ڡاٮڡوا الله واطٮعوں

my reward is incumbent only upon the Guardian of all beings.

اں احرى الا على رٮ العلمٮں

You are rather a people who cross the limits."

ٮل اٮٮم ڡوم عادوں

They said: "If you do not stop, O Lut, you will certainly be among those expelled."

ڡالوا لٮں لم ٮٮٮه ٮلوط لٮكوٮں مں المحرحٮں

He said: "I am indeed among those who loathe your conduct.

ڡال اٮى لعملكم مں الڡالٮں

My Guardian, save me, and my family, from what they do."

رٮ ٮحٮى واهلى مما ٮعملوں

So We saved him and his household, all of them, except an old woman among those who lingered behind; then We destroyed the others.

ڡٮحٮٮه واهله احمعٮں الا عحورا ڡى العٮرٮں ٮم دمرٮا الاحرٮں

how evil was the rain of those who had been warned!

ڡسا مطر المٮدرٮں

But most of them are not believers.

وما كاں اكٮرهم مومٮٮں

And your Guardian is surely the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

واں رٮك لهو العرٮر الرحٮم

The companions of the Thicket denied the envoys, when Shu'ayb said to them: "Will you not guard yourselves? I am indeed for you a trustworthy messenger.

كدٮ اصحٮ لٮكه المرسلٮں اد ڡال لهم سعٮٮ الا ٮٮڡوں اٮى لكم رسول امٮں

So guard yourselves toward God and defer to me.

ڡاٮڡوا الله واطٮعوں

my reward is incumbent only upon the Guardian of all beings.

اں احرى الا على رٮ العلمٮں

and do not be among those who cause loss.

ولا ٮكوٮوا مں المحسرٮں

And weigh with the straight scale,

ورٮوا ٮالڡسطاس المسٮڡٮم

and do not spread disorder on the earth as corrupters.

ولا ٮعٮوا ڡى الارص مڡسدٮں

And guard yourselves before the One who created you, and the multitude of the earlier ones."

واٮڡوا الدى حلڡكم والحٮله الاولٮں

They said: "You are only among those abused by illusion; you are only a human like us, and we certainly presume you to be among the liars. So make a fragment of the sky tumble upon us, if you are among the veracious."

ڡالوا اٮما اٮٮ مں المسحرٮں وما اٮٮ الا ٮسر مٮلٮا واں ٮطٮك لمں الكدٮٮں ڡاسڡط علٮٮا كسڡا مں السما اں كٮٮ مں الصدڡٮں

He said: "My Guardian knows best what you do."

ڡال رٮى اعلم ٮما ٮعملوں

It was the punishment of an immense day.

اٮه كاں عداٮ ٮوم عطٮم

But most of them are not believers.

وما كاں اكٮرهم مومٮٮں

And your Guardian is surely the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

واں رٮك لهو العرٮر الرحٮم

And this is surely a descent from the Guardian of all beings.

واٮه لٮٮرٮل رٮ العلمٮں

The trustworthy Influx came down with it, upon your core, so that you may be among the warners, in a flawless, explicit tongue.

ٮرل ٮه الروح الامٮں على ڡلٮك لٮكوں مں المٮدرٮں ٮلساں عرٮى مٮٮں

And this is surely found in the Formularies of the ancients.

واٮه لڡى رٮر الاولٮں

Is it not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Sons of Israel know it?

اولم ٮكں لهم اٮه اں ٮعلمه علموا ٮٮى اسرٮل

And if We had sent it down upon one of those whose tongue is not flawless, and he had read it to them, they would not have believed in it.

ولو ٮرلٮه على ٮعص الاعحمٮں ڡڡراه علٮهم ما كاٮوا ٮه مومٮٮں

Thus We have inserted it into the cores of the severed; they will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment, which will come to them unexpectedly, without their sensing it, and they will say then: "Will we be granted a delay?"

كدلك سلكٮه ڡى ڡلوٮ المحرمٮں لا ٮومٮوں ٮه حٮى ٮروا العداٮ الالٮم ڡٮاٮٮهم ٮعٮه وهم لا ٮسعروں ڡٮڡولوا هل ٮحں مٮطروں

Is it then Our punishment that they seek to hasten?

اڡٮعداٮٮا ٮسٮعحلوں

Do you see? If We granted them enjoyment for years, then what they were promised came to them, of what use to them was the enjoyment they were granted?

اڡرٮٮ اں مٮعٮهم سٮٮں ٮم حاهم ما كاٮوا ٮوعدوں ما اعٮى عٮهم ما كاٮوا ٮمٮعوں

and We have never been wrongdoers.

وما كٮا طلمٮں

And it is not the Diverters who descended with it; that does not suit them, and they cannot do it.

وما ٮٮرلٮ ٮه السٮطٮں وما ٮٮٮعى لهم وما ٮسٮطٮعوں

They are surely kept away from all listening.

اٮهم عں السمع لمعرولوں

So do not invoke, alongside God, another deity, or you would be among the punished.

ڡلا ٮدع مع الله الها احر ڡٮكوں مں المعدٮٮں

And warn your closest kinsmen, and lower your wing for those who follow you, among the believers.

واٮدر عسٮرٮك الاڡرٮٮں واحڡص حٮاحك لمں اٮٮعك مں المومٮٮں

If they disobey you, say then: "I am indeed quit of what you do."

ڡاں عصوك ڡڡل اٮى ٮرى مما ٮعملوں

And entrust yourself to the All-Powerful, the Benevolent, the One who sees you when you stand, and your comings and goings among those who prostrate.

وٮوكل على العرٮر الرحٮم الدى ٮرٮك حٮں ٮڡوم وٮڡلٮك ڡى السحدٮں

It is indeed He, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

اٮه هو السمٮع العلٮم

Shall I inform you upon whom the Diverters descend? They descend upon every inveterate distorter, laden with transgressions. They lend an ear, and most of them are liars.

هل اٮٮٮكم على مں ٮٮرل السٮطٮں ٮٮرل على كل اڡاك اٮٮم ٮلڡوں السمع واكٮرهم كدٮوں

And the seductive orators, it is the errant who follow them.

والسعرا ٮٮٮعهم العاوں

Have you not seen that they ramble in every valley, and that they say what they never do?

الم ٮر اٮهم ڡى كل واد ٮهٮموں واٮهم ٮڡولوں ما لا ٮڡعلوں

and those who have done wrong will soon know to what turning point they will turn.
