Al-Ahzab

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. O Informant, guard yourself toward God,

ٮسم الله الرحمں الرحٮم ٮاٮها الٮٮى اٮٯ الله

and do not defer to those who disown nor to the hypocrites.

ولا ٮطع الكڡرٮں والمٮڡڡٮں

And follow what is revealed to you from your Guardian.

واٮٮع ما ٮوحى الٮك مں رٮك

And entrust yourself to God.

وٮوكل على الله

God has not assigned to any man two cores within his breast.

ما حعل الله لرحل مں ڡلٮٮں ڡى حوڡه

Nor has He made your wives — those against whom you pronounce the exclusion formula — your mothers,

وما حعل اروحكم الى ٮطهروں مٮهں امهٮكم

nor has He made your adopted sons your sons.

وما حعل ادعٮاكم اٮٮاكم

That is your saying with your mouths;

دلكم ڡولكم ٮاڡوهكم

Call them by their fathers' names: that is more equitable with God.

ادعوهم لاٮاٮهم هو اڡسط عٮد الله

And if you do not know their fathers, then they are your brothers in the Law, and your allies.

ڡاں لم ٮعلموا اٮاهم ڡاحوٮكم ڡى الدٮں ومولٮكم

And no blame upon you in what you may have done by mistake,

ولٮس علٮكم حٮاح ڡٮما احطاٮم ٮه

but rather in what your cores have premeditated.

ولكں ما ٮعمدٮ ڡلوٮكم

The Informant is closer to the believers than they are to themselves,

الٮٮى اولى ٮالمومٮٮں مں اٮڡسهم

and his wives are their mothers.

واروحه امهٮهم

And those bound by kinship are closer to one another under God's Code than the believers and the emigrants — except that you do what is recognized toward your allies.

واولوا الارحام ٮعصهم اولى ٮٮعص ڡى كٮٮ الله مں المومٮٮں والمهحرٮں الا اں ٮڡعلوا الى اولٮاٮكم معروڡا

and We took from them a solemn and firm engagement, so that He might question the veracious about their veracity;

واحدٮا مٮهم مٮٮڡا علٮطا لٮسل الصدڡٮں عں صدڡهم

O you who have believed! Remember God's blessing upon you, when armies came against you, and We sent upon them a wind and armies you did not see.

ٮاٮها الدٮں امٮوا ادكروا ٮعمه الله علٮكم اد حاٮكم حٮود ڡارسلٮا علٮهم رٮحا وحٮودا لم ٮروها

When they came upon you from above you and from below you,

اد حاوكم مں ڡوڡكم ومں اسڡل مٮكم

and when a group among them said, "O people of Yathrib, there is no place for you; return,"

واد ڡالٮ طاٮڡه مٮهم ٮاهل ٮٮرٮ لا مڡام لكم ڡارحعوا

and a fraction among them was asking the Informant's leave, saying, "Our houses indeed lack privacy" — when they did not:

وٮسٮدں ڡرٮٯ مٮهم الٮٮى ٮڡولوں اں ٮٮوٮٮا عوره وما هى ٮعوره

And they had certainly made a pact with God before, not to turn their backs;

ولڡد كاٮوا عهدوا الله مں ڡٮل لا ٮولوں الادٮر

Say, "Flight will not benefit you if you flee from death or killing,

ڡل لں ٮٮڡعكم الڡرار اں ڡررٮم مں الموٮ او الڡٮل

Say, "Who, then, could safeguard you from God, should He intend for you harm, or intend for you benevolence?"

ڡل مں دا الدى ٮعصمكم مں الله اں اراد ٮكم سوا او اراد ٮكم رحمه

God will surely distinguish those among you who obstruct, and those who say to their brothers, "Come to us," and who come to the fight only a little, being greedy toward you.

ڡد ٮعلم الله المعوڡٮں مٮكم والڡاٮلٮں لاحوٮهم هلم الٮٮا ولا ٮاٮوں الٮاس الا ڡلٮلا اسحه علٮكم

Then, when fear comes, you see them looking at you, their eyes rolling like those of one whom death makes swoon.

ڡادا حا الحوڡ راٮٮهم ٮٮطروں الٮك ٮدور اعٮٮهم كالدى ٮعسى علٮه مں الموٮ

Then, when the fear departs, they assail you with sharp tongues, greedy for any good.

ڡادا دهٮ الحوڡ سلڡوكم ٮالسٮه حداد اسحه على الحٮر

Those have not believed, so God has voided their works,

اولٮك لم ٮومٮوا ڡاحٮط الله اعملهم

They think the parties have not gone;

ٮحسٮوں الاحراٮ لم ٮدهٮوا

and were the parties to come, they would wish they had withdrawn among the notables,

واں ٮاٮ الاحراٮ ٮودوا لو اٮهم ٮادوں ڡى الاعراٮ

And when the believers saw the parties, they said, "This is what God and His messenger promised us, and God and His messenger spoke truly,"

ولما را المومٮوں الاحراٮ ڡالوا هدا ما وعدٮا الله ورسوله وصدٯ الله ورسوله

Among the believers are men who have been true to the pact they made with God:

مں المومٮٮں رحال صدڡوا ما عهدوا الله علٮه

and they have not changed in the least — so that God may recompense the veracious for their veracity, and punish the hypocrites, if He wills, or turn toward them with clemency.

وما ٮدلوا ٮٮدٮلا لٮحرى الله الصدڡٮں ٮصدڡهم وٮعدٮ المٮڡڡٮں اں سا او ٮٮوٮ علٮهم

And God turned back those who disowned, in their rage, without any good accruing to them;

ورد الله الدٮں كڡروا ٮعٮطهم لم ٮٮالوا حٮرا

and God spared the believers the fight.

وكڡى الله المومٮٮں الڡٮال

And He brought down from their strongholds those, among the People of the Scripture, who had supported them, and hurled terror into their cores:

واٮرل الدٮں طهروهم مں اهل الكٮٮ مں صٮاصٮهم وڡدڡ ڡى ڡلوٮهم الرعٮ

and He made you inherit their land, their abodes, and their goods, and a land you had not trodden.

واورٮكم ارصهم ودٮرهم وامولهم وارصا لم ٮطوها

O women of the Informant, whoever among you commits a manifest indecency, We would double the punishment for her, twice over;

ٮٮسا الٮٮى مں ٮاٮ مٮكں ٮڡحسه مٮٮٮه ٮصعڡ لها العداٮ صعڡٮں

So do not let the tone of your saying be yielding, lest he in whose core is a sickness should covet; and speak a recognized saying, and remain in your houses,

ڡلا ٮحصعں ٮالڡول ڡٮطمع الدى ڡى ڡلٮه مرص وڡلں ڡولا معروڡا وڡرں ڡى ٮٮوٮكں

and do not flaunt yourselves as was flaunted in the former ignorance.

ولا ٮٮرحں ٮٮرح الحهلٮه الاولى

And maintain the Contact, and give pure liberality,

واڡمں الصلوه واٮٮں الركوه

and defer to God and His messenger.

واطعں الله ورسوله

And remember what is recited in your houses of God's signs and wisdom.

وادكرں ما ٮٮلى ڡى ٮٮوٮكں مں اٮٮ الله والحكمه

And it is not for any believing man or believing woman, when God and His messenger have decided a matter, to have the option in their own affair.

وما كاں لمومں ولا مومٮه ادا ڡصى الله ورسوله امرا اں ٮكوں لهم الحٮره مں امرهم

And when you said to the one God had favored and you had favored, "Retain your wife and guard yourself toward God," while hiding within yourself what God was going to make appear, and dreading mankind, when God is more deserving that you dread Him.

واد ٮڡول للدى اٮعم الله علٮه واٮعمٮ علٮه امسك علٮك روحك واٮٯ الله وٮحڡى ڡى ٮڡسك ما الله مٮدٮه وٮحسى الٮاس والله احٯ اں ٮحسٮه

Then when Zayd had ended all ties with her, We gave her to you in marriage, so that there would be no discomfort for the believers concerning the wives of their adopted sons, once they have ended all ties with them.

ڡلما ڡصى رٮد مٮها وطرا روحٮكها لكى لا ٮكوں على المومٮٮں حرح ڡى اروح ادعٮاٮهم ادا ڡصوا مٮهں وطرا

There is no discomfort for the Informant in what God has fixed for him —

ما كاں على الٮٮى مں حرح ڡٮما ڡرص الله له

such is God's norm with those who passed before.

سٮه الله ڡى الدٮں حلوا مں ڡٮل

Those who convey God's messages, and dread Him, and dread no one but God —

الدٮں ٮٮلعوں رسلٮ الله وٮحسوٮه ولا ٮحسوں احدا الا الله

Muhammad is not the father of any of your men,

ما كاں محمد اٮا احد مں رحالكم

but rather the messenger of God and the seal of the informants.

ولكں رسول الله وحاٮم الٮٮٮں

It is He who is in contact with you, He and His Agents, so as to bring you out of the darknesses into the light;

هو الدى ٮصلى علٮكم وملٮكٮه لٮحرحكم مں الطلمٮ الى الٮور

Their greeting, the day they meet Him, will be, "Peace."

ٮحٮٮهم ٮوم ٮلڡوٮه سلم

And do not defer to those who disown nor to the hypocrites,

ولا ٮطع الكڡرٮں والمٮڡڡٮں

and disregard their nuisance,

ودع ادٮهم

and entrust yourself to God.

وٮوكل على الله

O you who have believed! When you marry believing women and then repudiate them before you have touched them, you have no waiting period against them for you to number.

ٮاٮها الدٮں امٮوا ادا ٮكحٮم المومٮٮ ٮم طلڡٮموهں مں ڡٮل اں ٮمسوهں ڡما لكم علٮهں مں عده ٮعٮدوٮها

O Informant, We have permitted to you your wives to whom you have given their rewards, she who is bound to you by oath among what God has restored to you, and the daughters of your paternal uncle, the daughters of your paternal aunts, the daughters of your maternal uncle, and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you, and any believing woman if she bestows herself on the Informant — provided the Informant wishes to marry her:

ٮاٮها الٮٮى اٮا احللٮا لك اروحك الٮى اٮٮٮ احورهں وما ملكٮ ٮمٮٮك مما اڡا الله علٮك وٮٮاٮ عمك وٮٮاٮ عمٮك وٮٮاٮ حالك وٮٮاٮ حلٮك الٮى هاحرں معك وامراه مومٮه اں وهٮٮ ٮڡسها للٮٮى اں اراد الٮٮى اں ٮسٮٮكحها

exclusively for you, to the exclusion of the believers.

حالصه لك مں دوں المومٮٮں

We certainly know what We have fixed for them concerning their wives and those bound to them by oath, so that there may be no discomfort for you;

ڡد علمٮا ما ڡرصٮا علٮهم ڡى اروحهم وما ملكٮ اٮمٮهم لكٮلا ٮكوں علٮك حرح

You may postpone whom you will of them, and take to yourself whom you will;

ٮرحى مں ٮسا مٮهں وٮوى الٮك مں ٮسا

and whomever you seek of those you had set aside, no blame upon you.

ومں اٮٮعٮٮ ممں عرلٮ ڡلا حٮاح علٮك

That is nearer so that their gaze may rest, and they not grieve, and they be satisfied, all of them, with what you give them.

دلك ادٮى اں ٮڡر اعٮٮهں ولا ٮحرں وٮرصٮں ٮما اٮٮٮهں كلهں

And God knows what is in your cores;

والله ٮعلم ما ڡى ڡلوٮكم

Women are not permitted to you after this, nor to exchange them for other wives, even were their beauty to dazzle you — except she who is bound to you by oath.

لا ٮحل لك الٮسا مں ٮعد ولا اں ٮٮدل ٮهں مں اروح ولو اعحٮك حسٮهں الا ما ملكٮ ٮمٮٮك

O you who have believed! Do not enter the houses of the Informant unless permission is given you for food, without awaiting its readiness;

ٮاٮها الدٮں امٮوا لا ٮدحلوا ٮٮوٮ الٮٮى الا اں ٮودں لكم الى طعام عٮر ٮطرٮں اٮٮه

but when you are invited, enter; and when you have fed, deploy, without tarrying for discourse.

ولكں ادا دعٮٮم ڡادحلوا ڡادا طعمٮم ڡاٮٮسروا ولا مسٮٮسٮں لحدٮٮ

That indeed used to trouble the Informant, though he felt shy toward you,

اں دلكم كاں ٮودى الٮٮى ڡٮسٮحى مٮكم

whereas God is not shy of the truth.

والله لا ٮسٮحى مں الحٯ

And when you ask them for an item, ask them from behind a veil:

وادا سالٮموهں مٮعا ڡسلوهں مں ورا ححاٮ

that is cleaner for your cores and their cores.

دلكم اطهر لڡلوٮكم وڡلوٮهں

And it is not for you to trouble the messenger of God, nor to marry his wives after him, ever;

وما كاں لكم اں ٮودوا رسول الله ولا اں ٮٮكحوا اروحه مں ٮعده اٮدا

No blame upon them concerning their fathers, nor their sons, nor their brothers, nor their brothers' sons, nor their sisters' sons, nor the women of their circle, nor those bound to them by oath.

لا حٮاح علٮهں ڡى اٮاٮهں ولا اٮٮاٮهں ولا احوٮهں ولا اٮٮا احوٮهں ولا اٮٮا احوٮهں ولا ٮساٮهں ولا ما ملكٮ اٮمٮهں

And guard yourselves toward God:

واٮڡٮں الله

God and His Agents are in constant contact with the Informant.

اں الله وملٮكٮه ٮصلوں على الٮٮى

O Informant, tell your wives, your daughters, and the women of the believers to draw over themselves part of their outer garments:

ٮاٮها الٮٮى ڡل لاروحك وٮٮاٮك وٮسا المومٮٮں ٮدٮٮں علٮهں مں حلٮٮٮهں

that is nearer so that they will be recognized and not be troubled.

دلك ادٮى اں ٮعرڡں ڡلا ٮودٮں

If the hypocrites, those in whose cores is a sickness, and the rumor-mongers in the Capital do not cease, We will certainly unleash you against them; then they will not remain your neighbors there except a little, being cursed.

لٮں لم ٮٮٮه المٮڡڡوں والدٮں ڡى ڡلوٮهم مرص والمرحڡوں ڡى المدٮٮه لٮعرٮٮك ٮهم ٮم لا ٮحاوروٮك ڡٮها الا ڡلٮلا ملعوٮٮں

Such is God's norm with those who passed before,

سٮه الله ڡى الدٮں حلوا مں ڡٮل

Men ask you about the Hour.

ٮسلك الٮاس عں الساعه

Say: "Knowledge of it is only with God,

ڡل اٮما علمها عٮد الله

and what gives you an idea?

وما ٮدرٮك

O you who have believed! Do not be like those who troubled Moussa; God made him quit of what they said,

ٮاٮها الدٮں امٮوا لا ٮكوٮوا كالدٮں ادوا موسى ڡٮراه الله مما ڡالوا

O you who have believed! Guard yourselves toward God and speak a straight saying: He will make your deeds sound for you and forgive you your offenses.

ٮاٮها الدٮں امٮوا اٮڡوا الله وڡولوا ڡولا سدٮدا ٮصلح لكم اعملكم وٮعڡر لكم دٮوٮكم

and the human being bore it: he was indeed a great wrongdoer, deeply ignorant — so that God may punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the associators, men and women, and that God turn with clemency toward the believing men and the believing women.

وحملها الاٮسں اٮه كاں طلوما حهولا لٮعدٮ الله المٮڡڡٮں والمٮڡڡٮ والمسركٮں والمسركٮ وٮٮوٮ الله على المومٮٮں والمومٮٮ
