Al-Waqi'a

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. When the Event occurs, none will be able to deny its coming.

ٮسم الله الرحمں الرحٮم ادا وڡعٮ الواڡعه لٮس لوڡعٮها كادٮه

Abasing, elevating — when the earth is rocked with a violent rocking, and the mountains are crushed to powder, becoming scattered dust, and you become three categories.

حاڡصه راڡعه ادا رحٮ الارص رحا وٮسٮ الحٮال ٮسا ڡكاٮٮ هٮا مٮٮٮا وكٮٮم اروحا ٮلٮه

The companions of the right side — what are the companions of the right side?

ڡاصحٮ المٮمٮه ما اصحٮ المٮمٮه

And the companions of the left side — what are the companions of the left side?

واصحٮ المسمه ما اصحٮ المسمه

And the forerunners, the forerunners...

والسٮڡوں السٮڡوں

Those are the ones brought near, in the gardens of bliss.

اولٮك المڡرٮوں ڡى حٮٮ الٮعٮم

A multitude from the first and few from the last, on woven couches, reclining on them, face to face.

ٮله مں الاولٮں وڡلٮل مں الاحرٮں على سرر موصوٮه مٮكٮں علٮها مٮڡٮلٮں

Around them will circulate children made eternal, with goblets, ewers, and a cup of spring water — from which they will neither ache nor be intoxicated — and savoury fruit they opt for, and the flesh of birds that they desire.

ٮطوڡ علٮهم ولدں محلدوں ٮاكواٮ واٮارٮٯ وكاس مں معٮں لا ٮصدعوں عٮها ولا ٮٮرڡوں وڡكهه مما ٮٮحٮروں ولحم طٮر مما ٮسٮهوں

And companions of listening and support, like well-sheltered pearls, in recompense for what they used to do.

وحور عٮں كامٮل اللولو المكٮوں حرا ٮما كاٮوا ٮعملوں

They will hear therein no idle talk and no incitement to transgression.

لا ٮسمعوں ڡٮها لعوا ولا ٮاٮٮما

Only the saying: "Peace, peace."

الا ڡٮلا سلما سلما

And the companions of the right — what are the companions of the right?

واصحٮ الٮمٮں ما اصحٮ الٮمٮں

Among thornless lote trees, and clustered banana trees, extended shade, flowing water, abundant savoury fruit neither cut off nor withheld, and elevated couches.

ڡى سدر محصود وطلح مٮصود وطل ممدود وما مسكوٮ وڡكهه كٮٮره لا مڡطوعه ولا ممٮوعه وڡرس مرڡوعه

We brought them into being in a coming-into-being, and made them inaugural beings, loving, fertile and of shared stock, for the companions of the right.

اٮا اٮساٮهں اٮسا ڡحعلٮهں اٮكارا عرٮا اٮراٮا لاصحٮ الٮمٮں

A multitude from the first and a multitude from the last.

ٮله مں الاولٮں وٮله مں الاحرٮں

And the companions of the left — what are the companions of the left?

واصحٮ السمال ما اصحٮ السمال

In torrid wind, and boiling water, and a shade of black smoke — neither cool nor generous.

ڡى سموم وحمٮم وطل مں ٮحموم لا ٮارد ولا كرٮم

They were before that among the affluent.

اٮهم كاٮوا ڡٮل دلك مٮرڡٮں

And they used to persist in the immense perjury.

وكاٮوا ٮصروں على الحٮٮ العطٮم

And they used to say: "When we are dead, earth and bones, shall we really be raised? And our earliest forefathers too?"

وكاٮوا ٮڡولوں اٮدا مٮٮا وكٮا ٮراٮا وعطما اٮا لمٮعوٮوں اواٮاوٮا الاولوں

Say: "The first and the last will surely be brought together at the appointed time of a known day."

ڡل اں الاولٮں والاحرٮں لمحموعوں الى مٮڡٮ ٮوم معلوم

Then surely you, O astray, denying ones, will eat from the tree of Zaqqoum, and fill your bellies with it, and drink on top of it boiling water, drinking as thirsty camels drink.

ٮم اٮكم اٮها الصالوں المكدٮوں لاكلوں مں سحر مں رڡوم ڡمالوں مٮها الٮطوں ڡسرٮوں علٮه مں الحمٮم ڡسرٮوں سرٮ الهٮم

This is their welcome on the Day of the Due.

هدا ٮرلهم ٮوم الدٮں

So why do you not declare it true?

ڡلولا ٮصدڡوں

Do you then see that which you emit? Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator?

اڡرٮٮم ما ٮمٮوں اٮٮم ٮحلڡوٮه ام ٮحں الحلڡوں

It is We who have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outrun in replacing you with your likenesses and bringing you into being in that which you do not know.

ٮحں ڡدرٮا ٮٮٮكم الموٮ وما ٮحں ٮمسٮوڡٮں على اں ٮٮدل امٮلكم وٮٮسٮكم ڡى ما لا ٮعلموں

So why do you not remember?

ڡلولا ٮدكروں

Do you then see that which you till? Is it you who sow it, or are We the Sower?

اڡرٮٮم ما ٮحرٮوں اٮٮم ٮررعوٮه ام ٮحں الررعوں

If We willed, We could make it debris, and you would stay lamenting: "We are surely ruined! Rather, we are deprived."

لو ٮسا لحعلٮه حطما ڡطلٮم ٮڡكهوں اٮا لمعرموں ٮل ٮحں محروموں

Do you then see the water that you drink? Is it you who sent it down from the clouds, or are We the Sender?

اڡرٮٮم الما الدى ٮسرٮوں اٮٮم اٮرلٮموه مں المرں ام ٮحں المٮرلوں

So why are you not grateful?

ڡلولا ٮسكروں

Do you then see the fire that you kindle? Is it you who brought its tree into being, or are We the One who brings it into being?

اڡرٮٮم الٮار الٮى ٮوروں اٮٮم اٮساٮم سحرٮها ام ٮحں المٮسوں

We made it a reminder and a use for those who halt in the wilderness.

ٮحں حعلٮها ٮدكره ومٮعا للمڡوٮں

So glorify in the name of your Guardian, the Immense.

ڡسٮح ٮاسم رٮك العطٮم

No! I swear by the positions of the stars — and surely, it is an immense swearing, if you but knew — surely, it is a noble Recitation, in a well-sheltered scripture, which none touch except the purified.

ڡلا اڡسم ٮموڡع الٮحوم واٮه لڡسم لو ٮعلموں عطٮم اٮه لڡراں كرٮم ڡى كٮٮ مكٮوں لا ٮمسه الا المطهروں

A descent from the Guardian of all beings.

ٮٮرٮل مں رٮ العلمٮں

Is it this discourse that you treat with complaisance, and do you make your provision consist in denying?

اڡٮهدا الحدٮٮ اٮٮم مدهٮوں وٮحعلوں ررڡكم اٮكم ٮكدٮوں

Then why, when it reaches the throat, and you at that moment are looking on, and We are nearer to him than you, but you do not see clearly — then why, if you were not indebted, do you not make it return, if you are veracious?

ڡلولا ادا ٮلعٮ الحلڡوم واٮٮم حٮٮٮد ٮٮطروں وٮحں اڡرٮ الٮه مٮكم ولكں لا ٮٮصروں ڡلولا اں كٮٮم عٮر مدٮٮٮں ٮرحعوٮها اں كٮٮم صدڡٮں

As for the one who is among those brought near: rest, and fragrance, and a garden of bliss.

ڡاما اں كاں مں المڡرٮٮں ڡروح ورٮحاں وحٮٮ ٮعٮم

And as for the one who is among the companions of the right: "Peace to you," from the companions of the right.

واما اں كاں مں اصحٮ الٮمٮں ڡسلم لك مں اصحٮ الٮمٮں

And as for the one who is among the denying, astray ones: a welcome of boiling water, and a burning in the Blaze.

واما اں كاں مں المكدٮٮں الصالٮں ڡٮرل مں حمٮم وٮصلٮه ححٮم

Surely, this is the truth of certainty.

اں هدا لهو حٯ الٮڡٮں

So glorify in the name of your Guardian, the Immense.
